My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two evenings last week and it certainly did not disappoint. We stayed in one of the apartments which also offers all the facilities of a 4* hotel. Our room was spotless and very spacious and we had a lovely view overlooking the marina and hotel pool. The hotel staff, from receptionists to bar staff to waitresses were all so accommodating and very friendly. Food was lovely, with a great choice of breakfasts in the morning, everything from sausage, bacon and eggs to cereals, fresh fruit and cold meats and cheese. Location of hotel is ideal, right on marina with a ten minute walk into the old town of Lagos and right beside the train station if you are travelling on. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone booking a holiday in Lagos. Collapse

Nice room, view of the harbor, nice breakfast, comfortable and modern. We would stay here again and the off season price is terrific. Nice buffet breakfast. Fridge in the room, nice warm pool on the roof and terrific staff.

There are some very good restaurants in town.they can tell you the ones worth booking. Bar and room service is reasonably priced compared to other holidays I've been on. We will stay here again. This was my first time visiting Portugal. I came with my two sons, husband and his parents. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment with marina views and my parents in law had the apartment next door. Both apartments were well decorated and extremely spacious - I was very pleased with how large the apartment was. Our bedroom was the same size as a hotel room we'd normally stay in for 4 of us. The cleaning staff were excellent and very friendly. They made up our baby's cot with his duck teddy sitting in it each day. Sadly we forgot the teddy when we left to come home! The pool was out of action for the first few days but had been repaired for our last couple of days, which we were very grateful for as although the weather was beautiful, we still visited out of season. The resort is in an excellent location. There is a large supermarket about a 10 minute walk away and a smaller one just over the bridge at the marina. It is an easy walk to restaurants at the marina itself and just a little further into Lagos which has lots of restaurants and cafes. We hired a car for several days - there is lots of parking just across the road from the front of the hotel - and visited Sagres, Alvor and Zoomarine Park, all of which took about half an hour. All in all a great stay, would love to visit again! Collapse

My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in Portugal. The first six nights of our stay were at The Marina Club in Lagos. We checked in on 29th March and out on 4th April. The price was €687. The reason for our stay here was to relax by the pool and booking.com advertised this hotel by stating, "GUESTS CAN SPEND THE DAY SOAKING UP THE SUN ON A LOUNGER BY THE OUTDOOR POOL" This sounded perfect to us however on our second day Thursday 30th March maintenance work commenced in the pool area. Workmen arrived at 9am and began work with electrical cutting equipment removing and replacing the tiles surrounding the pool and resurfacing the walk in area to the pool. The noise was deafening and the air and the pool was filled with dust and stone chippings. In my opinion the whole area should have been closed off for health and safety reasons as it was like an obstacle course with wheel barrows, pallets of building materials, and building tools and dangerous for anyone in the area. This work continued for 2 days ,Thursday and Friday. There was no work on the Saturday, Sunday or Monday but the pool area was not cleaned and it still was not a pleasant place to enjoy the sunshine and the pool was dirty. On the morning we checked out Tuesday 4th April the work began again at 9am. Although I appreciate that this was obviously essential maintenance work I did not wish to be there when it was being carried out! At no time was I informed that this work would be carried out during my stay and at no time was I offered an alternative area where I could relax. On check out I complained to the receptionist who initially said there was nothing he could do! I then asked to speak with a manager at which point the receptionist asked us to wait and he left. When he returned he said he had spoken to the manager and he could take €37 off our bill. I stated that this was unacceptable as 2 whole days of our holiday had been ruined and the other days were also very much affected as we could not use the pool! He said the manager was unwilling to offer anything further. I asked if could I speak with the manager but this request was denied! My unwillingness to accept the €37 as compensation fell on deaf ears and we had reached stalemate! Eventually and without prejudice I paid €650. I am completely disgusted that firstly this situation arose and secondly at the complete disregard of the management and their refusal to seriously accept my genuine and legitimate complaint! I did email booking.com but they did not respond! Collapse
