We spent 3 nights at the Marina and although they overbooked (they said), they did upgrade us to a suite. Our main complaint with our stay were the beds. It was like sleeping on a board with barely any padding. Truly. Every bone in our body ached and although exhausted, we could not wait to get up at the first hint of daylight. My saving grace was a swedish massage from the spa. And I must say, it was superb!! The young lady masseuse was lovely and gave a wonderful massage!! She was also very friendly and pleasant. Would highly recommend the massage. Collapse

We had a large apartment overlooking the pool area. The resort is clean, and the pool area is nice with plenty of sunbeds. The location is good, right at the Marina, with a 10-15 minutes walk to the old town. We actually found it best to rent bikes for the week. There is quite a distance to walk to the smaller cliff beaches, so bike was ideal. Meia Praia (largest beach) is closer, but we thought the cliff beaches were best. If you are looking for a hotelresort with character, you may want another place. This was more a pure apartment hotel. Collapse

Have just returned from a 10 night stay at this resort. We were both very impressed. The accommodation we were given looked over the swimming pool and had lovely views of the marina. The swimming pool was excellent although for non swimmers it could be a bit limiting as more than two thirds is deeper than 6ft. We had a good sized balcony. All the room sizes were good (bedroom, living room and bathroom). The kitchen was well equipped with a large fridge (+ freezer compartment); plenty of crockery, cutlery and saucepans; plus a microwave and toaster. The beds were comfortable and the linen was changed regularly as were the bath towels. There was plenty of storage space for hanging our clothes although we could have done with a chest of drawers. The bathroom shower over the bath was excellent and there was never a time when there was no hot water. The suite was lovely and clean when we arrived and the maids did a great job throughout our stay. There is a road train that stops at the marina and takes you into town for 3 euros (all day), there's a train station just a short walk away and the bus station in the town is just over the footbridge from the marina. The marina is full of a range of restaurants, bars and cafes so much so that we never bothered to take the short walk over the footbridge and into town in the evenings. The marina also has several operators offering boat excursions including dolphin watching and fishing trips. As for Lagos itself it is an excellent place to stay. During the day it was a great place to stroll around with the stalls on the promenade, the fish market and Gil Eanes Square full of life. There is a huge range of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes to try and we found the people very friendly. It felt a very safe place to be. Also worth noting: the road train takes you out of the town to the Ponta da Piedade which is a beautiful and scenic piece of coastline a short ride away. For beach lovers there is large beach a short walk from the marina and several others just outside the town. We hired a car for our duration and visited Praia da Luz, Sagres and Alvor all within half an hour's drive from Lagos. We liked all of them but not as much as Lagos. They are more beach resorts than a working town. Self catering was easy as there was a supermarket (Pingo Doce) about five minute's walk away and there were plenty of other supermarkets in the town. All in all we would definitely recommend the Marina Club Resort and will certainly return there when we next visit Lagos. Collapse

We have recently returned home after a two week stay at the Marina Suites Lagos. Our priority was to book an apartment, central to Lagos, with two bedrooms to enable us to entertain our local friends as they have entertained us in the past. Therefor we had seen the apartments whilst visiting last year. We were able to ask for a two bed apartment with a pool and marina view knowing what that would entail. When we arrived we were delighted to be shown to a very large, two bed and two bath apartment with the necessary view. The terrace was so large it was like another room. Our only reservation was that the main sitting area was sparsely furnished with one very large sofa and one easy chair. We had to use the dining chairs as an alternative. The location of the Marina Suite Hotel is perfect - a short walk to the beach and a short walk to town. There is a selection of restaurants and Bars on the Marina within easy reach. The staff were always helpful and answered all our enquiries. Collapse
