The Mardi Gras is reminiscent of 1970s motor inns seen on TV. It has a plain frontage which my taxi driver almost missed and the rooms are tired. The "casino" is really just a couple of banks of slot machines but, this having been said, the hotel's age and condition give it character and the rooms are adequate with air-con so effective that your room could feel like an ice box if you ran it all night! I chose this hotel for its budget price and close proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is a ten minute walk away. If these requirements are the same as yours and you can accept no frills accommodation, then this may well be for you! Collapse

If you dont have to interact with reception you might find this budget motel suitable to your budget needs. Rooms are old and tired but reflect the budget price. The issue is that they advertise as "friendly". This is not the case. Had to deal at check in with Don. I have spent a lot of time in motels around the world, but am struggling to think of anyone who was as rude, unprofessional or arrogant as this motel representative. It is a pity that Don does not appreciate that he represents not just his motel, but his city and sets the tone for how people might enjoy or otherwise their visit. This is a good lesson that trying to save a few bucks can be a false economy. Collapse
Clean, just some weird people and a bit far from the strip

We stayed here for 4 nights in late March 2017. Upon arrival there were some weird people that looked like junkies in the line checking in or something. I had my concerns at this point. Surprisingly, the rooms were clean and the fridges were nice. Kind of a Mexican feeling room and kind of a cool setup. There is on site laundry which worked well and was nice. The people in other hotel rooms seemed normal and there were quite a few families there which was nice to see. Outside the rooms were quiet on the second floor on the inside facing the pool. It may be a different story from the other side by the parking lot which was packed! It was spring break after all. I was pleased with the time for check in and check out, parking was nice and resort fees of $5 per day is very reasonable compared to what else is out there. The biggest thing that bothered us was the window coverings.. they are no coverings to keep out the light or to have any privacy. If it`s light or dark outside and you have your lights on, everything can be seen inside the room. The only coverings are those very thin white, see through things usually used in conjunction with curtains. It was really weird actually. But all in all was a good experience and the price is right. Definitely would return if they got some proper window coverings. Collapse

Stayed at this small motel a few times now and they never let you down ,it may not be on the strip but its got lots going for it . The staff are really friendly and will go out of there way to give you any information on places they go to themselves as well as places of interest to everyone who travels to Vegas especially Tim and Jerry at the bar and Mill and Rick the bus drivers. The shuttle bus that not only runs up to the strip and back every hour from 7 am until 10 pm it will also pick you up and drop you off at the airport. A great pool with a hot tub and free clean towels already placed on the sunbeds. The rooms are like small apartments with a king sized bed a separate area with a fridge and then the living room area with a large tv and a couch and a coffee table to relax in. When we where there they had happy hour in the bar between 4pm and 6pm every day all drinks and the food appertisers were all half price a very nice touch add this to the friendly bar staff and the locals that go in there and its well worth calling in the bar. The rooms are cleaned everyday don't expect a 5 star hotel standard room but its more than adequate for what we need in Vegas. There is also the monorail that runs to and from the strip that you can catch all night that stops only a few hundred yards up the road from the motel if you stay out late on the strip and don't want to pay taxi prices. We had a great time as usual and a lot of that is down to staying here its a very personal experience at the Mardi Gras something you don't get in the big hotels on the strip everyone knows your name and likes to chat with you. Stayed on the strip last year for a change as it was a great price wont be doing that again its like being a ant in a ants nest just to many faces and you never get to know anyone. Mardi Gras again for us again next year Ian & Kath Collapse

Do not expect Las Vegas Strip hotel . This is a 3 storey motel 5 minutes away . First look is a little run down but !!!. Once inside the reception staff are efficient and friendly . The ' casino ' is just a small area of various machines . The bar area is adjacent and is warm and welcoming with happy hour 4pm - 6pm . Rooms are accessed via lift or stairs and are good sized if a little dated . My room was on the outside of the building overlooking parking but was clean and A/C was very effective . Room was serviced daily by friendly staff . Pool area was kept to a good standard with towels provided . Only had snacks and breakfast in the hotel which were perfectly acceptable. Shuttle bus to / from strip was run by great drivers happy to help and chat If you want to visit Vegas and save on strip prices give it a go . Good to visit if you've been Vegas before and don't want strip prices . I'd visit again no problem . Thanks Mardi Gras staff Collapse
