i have recently returned from a short break to benidorm and i had the misfortune to stay in the marconi. the reason for my visit was to suprise my parents who were there for my fathers 70th. i arrived and checked in the room was average no balcony and just a small window looking down a shaft bot such a problem for a 3 night break i would only be in the room to sleep. i then went down for my evening meal at 730 and the food was disgusting cold chips and cold pizza and a terribe selection not even fit to feed to an animal my advice would be go to the coach and horses pub just along the front to eat. on the sunday my first full day i had booked a bus trip to valencia but on attempting to open my safe found it wouldnt work i went to reception and the uninterested receptionist said there was a problem with all the safes muttering something about the engineer being enroute and the problem would be fixed in 15mins so after coming back from my breakfast 30 mins later still no access to the safe by this time i had to leave or miss my bus luckily i was able to borrow some money off my parents. regarding the rooms the beds are reasonable and there was no noise but thats the only positive with this place. just back from this hotel it was terrible food catering for mainly Spanish people dining staff rude was never offered a drink of water never mind anything else on my 1st night and had to get my own cutlery and condiments, was forced to eat out for breakfast and evening meal which I didn't expect to do if I was half board do not stay in room 501 it's like a prison cell and no air whatsoever coming in as no balcony and no air conditioning it's full of rude Spanish elderly residents Only good point was a fabulous rooftop which looked onto the beach The reception staff and cleaners were nice so I was glad something was good I certainly wouldn't go back here if it was free Collapse

Got back home on the 11 th November stayed at the Marconi again, 6 of us. This time still so very clean in all areas, the staff from the cleaners to management are all so friendly, helpful and such a happy bunch, we all booked for a room with a seaview it is recommended,I have been in the side room with balcony and that was great to and if I went in the summer time would at my own choice pick a side with balcony just to keep out the sun,,when I got to my room 601 well as normal nice and clean, opened the curtains and whowww the balcony size and view blew me away and if you look at any front pictures the room is like under the roof top little pool and sun bed area with toilets there are only 2 rooms on the front,if you been looking at the benidorms cams on line well we can see them just in front of the balcony.so then a friend who had also booked there again shouted over the wall come and look at this, went round to the room well I thought my balcony was big she had got like a dance floor cause she had the side view and front we was over the moon,so we went down to my Brothers and his wife's room again they was well pleased 3 beds in room which gave them lots of space to put stuff on spare bed,and there balcony standard size but really nice and could not believe a different view from there 4 th floor room,so a really good start to the holiday,Again I have said in earlier reviews it is not for anyone who is in a wheel chair, and if have trouble with steps, there is only one step at front door and side but could be a problem so think on before you book,4 of our party did not like the food to much and had breakfast out in a cafe but they did try the evening meal again was not to impressed with it,but the 2 of us had all the meals and have no complaints with the food at all,but it is a matter of choice and those who did not like the food said next time yes we going again will just book the room.If you are looking for a hotel with entertainment then don't book the Marconi, but if you looking for a clean, quite to sleep, mid way base from old town to new town then it's very good just walk out the front door turn right then you got loads of good bars cafes and shops, turn left again loads a bars and before you know it you are in the new town were the pace picks up,so you are in the middle of best of both.If you looking for just a room to sleep they have the internal rooms again clean but only a window looking out to a wall, if you were in it for long time think would get you down , we had 2 last year we coped but it so worth the extra for a sea or side view, again it's a matter of choice, Collapse

We stayed at the Hotel Marconi in Benidorm 26/10/16 - 02/11/06 ( for 1 week) , in room 302 which is located on the 3rd floor that can be located easily by the lift , you step of the lift and i was there outside my door , We was allocated a lovely appointed room which consisted of 2 really comfortable single beds that was pushed together to make a double bed ( but if needed they can be seperated back into the 2 singles ) , and then there is a single wooden cabinet ant the side of each bed and the switch to control the wall lights ( if you dont want to want to get out of bed ) and also a small dressing table with a large mirror/ writing table and a chair and by the room entrance a large built in wardrobe with hangers with a small safe at the bottom ( i recommend you use ), There is a small tv on the wall but there was no english tv channels just mainly spanish ( you need to ask for the remote @ reception ) . There is also a small bathroom which comprises of a toilet and sink with a few toiletries thrown in , a bidet , and bath with a handheld shower . We also had a smallish balcony and there was a white plastic garden table and 2 white plastic matching chairs , where the room was located it made a brillilant suntrap when you sat out there and there is also a great view of the Pontiente Beach i was surprised that seeing the hotel was on the main road there was little to no noise with the balcony door closed. We stay bed and breakfast , the time breakfast started was 8am and finished at 10am although there was a good selection of foods available we didnt fancy anything else but the coffee and the toast ( then we went down the road to the coach & horses for the full english that was reasonably priced ) . There is also a small rooftop pool located on the 6th floor with a sunbathing area at the each end of the pool and there is also a toilet there aswell . Although the hotel mainly catered for spanish guests and we was the only english speakers there all the staff was fantastic and trued there hardest to convverse with you i.e whether it was the lovely ladies on reception or the guys at bar and even the cleaning staff said ola when u walked by .
