We stayed here for 3 nights based on positive reviews that we read but I probably will not book this hotel again if we ever return to Hong Kong because of the mall location. Room size was average. I did like the modern style of the hotel. Our room had a sitting room and they provided complimentary drinks in the minibar and also a cellphone you can use around Hong Kong. The hotel cellphone was a big selling point to me so we can use the hotspot for google directions. The room was, for the most part clean, except the toilet seat which seemed to have water stains. Nevertheless, I cleaned the toilet seat anyway just to make sure. What I hated about our stay is the constant slamming of doors that we heard as people came and went. People kept slamming their f..ng. doors. It was soo annoying. The layout of the hotel is quite odd. The hotel driveway was on the other side of the mall, so to get to it, you go out the hotel, enter the mall and cross. Now the cab driver who drove us from the airport dropped us off at the mall entrance and becuase of the language barrier we were told it's in the mall. Just make sure you tell the cabbie to drop you off at the hotel driveway on the otherside to get help with your luggage otherwise you will have carry your luggage a flight of stairs to get to the lobby. Again, so annoying. The lobby area is very small and always crowded There were only 2 agents when we checked in. We went to Hong Kong in June so the weather was hot and humid. On numerous occasions, the outside of the hotel/mall entrance had a really funky smell. It was awful. I paid USD200 for my room and that did not include breakfast. Price point wise, it was a fail. They also added a USD45 service charge when we checked out and that on top of what we already paid. Make sure you review the charges when you check out. It was very difficult communicating with their front desk as their English was limited. I have been to Hong Kong many times in the past, unfortunately, the last one was 15 years ago and I do remember going around the shops in Harbor City. We are not shoppers. When we go on vacation, we're there to enjoy the sights, culture and food. We leave our shopping at home online or via Amazon. We don't frequent malls at all. The only shopping we do is for souvenirs and food stuff that we discovered. Shopping seems to be a favorite past time in Hong Kong. All the stores in the mall is high end and most guests in the hotel seem to be there just for shopping. I see a lot walking around the mall with suitcases at hand to stuff with their loot. I now have a better understanding of tourist shoppers from Asia who frequent the factory outlets in the US with luggages walking around. I always wondered about that. The hotel is close to the area where you board the ferry so that's a positive. If you're in Hong Kong to shop, stay in this hotel otherwise skip it and look somewhere else. Collapse

We stayed at the Gateway for three nights in the basic room. The staff were very helpful and check in was easy. Cleanliness of the room was average and the rooms quite small and probably could do with a refurbish soon but they toiletries and free products are replaced every day and they are quite generous with what they give, hairbrush, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair elastics and other stuff. The breakfast is absolutely amazing, there is just so much choice and pretty much everything tastes good. I would go back just for the buffet breakfast. They had a mix of food from a few cultures and everything is cooked while youre there, its probably the best I have ever had at a hotel. Collapse

The hotel is very well located. There is a free shuttle bus from Kowloon station to the hotel. It is just right in the Harbour Center - the mall with nearly all brand names you can think of. The lobby is small and usually crowded. The check in and check out is efficient. The guest floor and the room is very new. The room is big comparing with other hotels in the same area. All functions are very well designed, and the room is quiet. The bed is comfortable. The restroom is big, clean, and well equipped with all necessary amenities (refilled daily). The shower pressure and temperature is super! The minibar - two beers, two soft drinks, and one Minute Maid juice - is complimentary and refilled daily. The complimentary Internet was a little slow but workable. Collapse
