The bistro restaurant overlooks the valley and the river Usk and it’s a great place for an informal lunch with friends, a snack in our bar or a sumptuous dinner as the evening sun goes down. Food is everything here, only fresh, tasty, local and seasonal features on the menus. Many of the ingredients come directly from the family farm just seven miles down the road – that’s what we call local.

Located in possibly the most beautiful valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park, on the fringes of the pretty and sophisticated market town of Crickhowell, the views here are outstanding. The family owned Manor hotel sits at the foot of the ancient fortress, Table Mountain.

The Manor Hotel, Crickhowell, has fabulous views over the valley and is a great base from which to explore South Wales. The pool and spa is a great facility and the building is historically interesting. The food was delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly. The décor and general upkeep of the hotel needs updating. Our room was in the "modern" part of the building and it felt very 70s. e.g. interesting old sign in bathroom - "keep the shower curtain in the bath when in use" - but there was a shower cubicle with doors - no bath! Attention to detail not so good - vacuuming in the dining room whilst we were having breakfast; had to share a carton of soya milk with another guest - two jugs would have been good. Collapse

Stayed here for one night on 21/07/17. Leisure facilities (gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool) were excellent and unlimited use at no extra cost, complimentary towels given at reception, perfect to wind down! Rooms are spacious and clean, huge bathroom with separate shower and bath facilities. Restaurant/bar was excellent, 3 course meal with every plate looking appetising! All meat cooked to perfection and excellent quality, which could easily give some well known steakhouses a run for their money! Pedro the bar/restaurant manager was absolutely tremendous and easily one of the friendliest characters you could meet, extremely good at his job and could spark up a conversation in no time! Without a doubt he's an asset to the manor hotel. Collapse

We had intended to stay as a couple while doing a little gentle hill climbing and other walking suitable for our age. For various reasons, and for odd times two sons and a brother and sister-in-law joined us along with Dylan the dog. Everyone could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The food was beyond our high expectations, varied, interesting, tasty and if anything the portions were too generous. Our room was well equipped with a very efficient shower and a great view. Everywhere was spotless. The atmosphere was informal, friendly and efficient. When we next visit South or mid Wales we won't need to look beyond The Manor. Collapse

We spent five very pleasant days at this hotel and would have loved to have stayed longer. Finding a place like this that accepts dogs, is rare, and we were happy to have found it. Being located just outside Crickhowell (with just a short walk into the village), it has wonderful views. Our room was not one of the more expensive, but had a double aspect view, including a stunning view of the mountains in the distance. The interior is a bit dated, and we could probably make a list of deficiences of our room and bathroom, but none were important enough to detract from our enjoyment of our room and stay, and please know that the hotel has just started to renovate the rooms, so all will be taken care of. Also, the room was spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed. And any disadvantage we might have been able to come up with, was ,more than compensated for by the extreme friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (nothing is too much trouble for them), the excellent food (the hotel has one of the most extensive breakfast menus I have seen, and it's all perfectly cooked, and in addition it has a good à la carte menu, each item on which can be brought up to your room as well), the wonderful location and the comforts of the facilities. Not to mention the spa... For a British hotel spa, the spa facilities have been done quite well - the sauna has a good temperature, the steam room is quite spacious, there is a cold shower for those who have raised their body temperature in the facilities, a very enthusiastic jacuzzi, and a small pool - small, but just big enough as a lap pool. Some feel that the water temperature is a bit low, but when you've just come out of the sauna and the shower, it's actually nicely refreshing. Our dog was welcome here, and he quickly felt at home, as did we. We almost felt five days weren't enough for our stay here, but we'll be happy to return in the future, and will be curious to see the results of the room renovations. Only minus point? Although the wifi signal is available throughout the hotel, including the bedrooms, the signal fluctuates quite a bit, and in the rooms it's often unusable, or almost unusable. And since mobile phone reception isn't great in this area, you really do have to rely on the wifi sometimes. There is, however, a solution - go down to the bar area, or the restaurant, and you'll get a better signal. Collapse
Just look at that free view!

Shut your eyes as your car draws into the car park. Perhaps not if you're the driver but otherwise just play along. When your driver stops facing out towards the valley they will say "open now! " I double dare you not to gasp and say "wow! " out loud. It really is that spectacular. Then turn towards the hotel entrance. "Wow!" Yes, it does look that nice. Then go inside and marvel at the magnificent hall and staircase. "Wow! Again. Then go up to your room. Will it be a "wow " or a "whoa"? Depends. None of the rooms is bad but some are definitely significantly plusher than others. Because we had our lovely dog with us we were in possibly the least plush of the rooms. But it still wasn't at all bad and the extremely comfortable bed gave us a splendid night's sleep. The bijou bathroom was less impressive, though beautifully finished, and was seriously compromised by a shower that was neither thermostatic nor easy to adjust for temperature, a potential safety issue that was reported to the hotel management on our departure. Were it not for this we would have gone to five for our overview. Five for excellent staff; five for excellent service, five for excellent food and five for a lovely warm and homely atmosphere which ensured that this where we will stay when next in the area. And there's that view! Freeview hasn't a hope of competing! Collapse
