This hotel is at the best location! But I have to say what really makes it stand out to me, is the level of excellent service we received while staying here. Mohammad at the front desk was 100% professional, helpful, kind, personable and funny! He remembered us and would wave to us every day as we left. He really made us feel cared for in a big city like New York where you can get lost in the crowds. I know he works with hundreds of guests every day but I feel like we’ve made a friend in him and when I come back (which I will) he will remember me! The rooms are dated, but functional. The bed is on the firm side but I love that. The pillows were amazing!! I slept like a baby and didn’t mind the lack of modernization because you had everything you needed from a hotel. Safety, comfortable rooms, easy access to food, drinks and tourist locations make it a great hotel! They do a grab and go breakfast option or you can pay per item. Dolores at the food area was so sweet and gave us free bottles of water after we arrived which really helped. Overall, I’d stay here again. We got a great deal online and really the service we received from Mohammad, the bellmen, the concierge desk, and even the sweet and friendly house keeping woman(I wish I knew her name!) was above and beyond! Staff were lovely and helpful, I gather half of the hotel has been modernised and half has not, unfortunately we had a room which needed an update; wallpaper and paint were peeling off the walls, the skirting board was coming away from the walls, curtains didn't shut all the way, radiator was stuck on hot so the room was very warm even when turned off (we asked them to fix this but that didn't happen) and the hotel has only 3 lifts (or elevators for any American folk) for 20 floors so it takes a while to get from your room to reception as the lifts seem to stop on nearly every floor! Hotel is in a good location but I'm sure there will be better hotels out there considering the price we paid was not cheap! Collapse

I haven't reviewed for awhile, and can't remember the last time I wrote something negative, but it is hard to believe how much I spent (I travel to NYC often and realize how expensive it is) for one night considering the lack of hospitality and friendliness at this hotel. Granted, however, you can't beat the location if you are here for dinner and a show in Times Square. My first disillusionment came when I pulled up to the front door after dealing with traffic and eager to hand my keys off to the Valet only to be told that they don't Valet park the car, I needed to get back in the car and go around the corner to their parking garage. No options, so I did as i was told only to pull up to the garage but unable to enter due to their overflow and sat half way out in the street for at least 20 minutes before I was even acknowledged. The attendant finally came to my car and spoke so fast that as he walked away I asked him to repeat himself. At this point he shouted "Oh my God" as if I was truly to stupid to have not heard him in the first place. Finally arriving at the front desk to check, here again I was made to feel as if I was bothering everyone for checking in when I did. The Bellman was awesome and funny (by that point he was the only thing keeping me from leaving). The room itself was clean but the furniture was old, broken in places, with lamps needing light bulbs replaced. No time to ask for a room change due to dinner reservations we changed and left quickly. The next morning we were looking forward to sleeping in (8 am) but despite the "Do Not Disturb " sign on our door, the Housekeeping staff were literally screaming down the hallway to each other in an endless conversation. I cracked open the door, asked if they wouldn't mind lowering their voices a bit and received a dirty look and was told it wasn't them, it was the guests walking by. I gave up, got dressed, fought with the garage attendant for not believing I was a hotel guest and was to have a discounted rate applied, waited a half hour for my car and happily left. Well...I guess what do you expect for $400 for a night? Get what you pay for I suppose. Never again. Way too much competition for my money in NYC. Collapse
