I was terrified to stay at this hotel as I read the reviews AFTER paying for my reservation, but upon arriving it was quite the opposite. The hotel room was clean and although small (we stayed in a regular king size bed room), it was pleasant and comfortable. Yes, the hotel halls could use a renovation or some elbow grease, but it's nothing that would make me turn away - we spent most of the time being tourists and as the title states, it is the perfect location in respect to the landmarks in midtown. We walked everywhere and there were plenty of eatery's within short distance. The only thing that left me unhappy is that during my reservation I was promised a "Big Apple" gift and never could receive proper information on this "gift" that I never received. Collapse
Here now - no heating!!!!!

This hotel is actually an okay hotel - I am giving it a 2 star rating for the following reason only:- arrived Saturday evening for a five night stay, booked a junior suite which is a really lovely room, we loved it as soon as we opened the door - it's a huge room with a king size bed, sitting area, 2 large flat screen TVs, outside sitting area (would be lovely in the summer) and a huge bathroom, really couldn't find a thing wrong with it ....... Until we returned later that evening! New York is extremely cold right now, (coming from UK, this is something we are use to) - as soon as we opened our room door the temperature hit us - it was freezing. I tried the air con as EVERY other hotel I have stayed in gives you the opportunity for the system to blow cold or hot air - not this one, it only blew out cold air so I shut it down and went to bed with a view of raising the situation with the front desk the following day. I have a medical condition that is aggravated by the cold, when I woke the following morning I was in extreme pain and could hardly move, I had to double my mornings usual medication (would like to point out, there was only a thin quilt on our bed and no additional blankets within the room - again, a first for any hotel I have previously stayed in). The Lobby was extremely busy in the morning so I left it until later in the day to approach the hotel on the situation, I was told the heating was not on as it was not cold enough outside, once it dropped to a certain temp, the heating would automatically kick in, I asked if a heater could be put in the room to accommodate us and explained about my medical condition - I was told no, they were unable to do that but they could arrange for extra blankets to be sent to the room!!!!!!!!!! Now that's fine when you are in bed, but what if you want to sit and relax for a bit, or have a shower/bath ... There is nothing worse than getting out of the shower into a freezing cold room and what use is extra blankets then?????? Waited for the blankets, they didn't come so I had to phone housekeeping and request them myself, minutes later they arrived (for which I had to tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!). That night I wrote a private message FAO the hotel manager on their Facebook page (had no email address), and had yet another uncomfortable, painful and extremely cold night in our room. The following morning, once again, my medication had to be increased. My message had not yet been seen so I approached a very nice gentleman on front desk and explained the situation, he was very apologetic and said he would send someone immediately to take a look at the system in our room - no mention of it not being possible due to outside temps!! During the day I checked on my messages and had had a reply to my FB message, I was disgusted when their reply was to ask, once again, if I required more blankets!!!! I told them this was totally unacceptable, and the very least I expect, after paying to stay in their hotel, was the bare essentials (ie, warmth) - my reply back was an apology to say they were unable to accommodate this due to the system not allowing heat due to outside temps!!!!!! Aaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! When we arrived back to our room that afternoon, it was perfect, the system was back on (and warm) and the room was lovely (and warm). However, within the hour, the system had turned itself off and when the temp dropped (quickly due to the size of the room!!!!) and kicked back in, it would only blow out cold air - once again, a third night in a freezing cold room. I am now feeling quite unwell and unsure if I am able to carry on with the attractions I have pre-booked and my daughter is also unwell. New York is a wonderful place, we are first time visitors and on the whole we love the city, the local people are truly amazing, they are so friendly, happy and eager to help so I really am disappointed and disgusted with this hotel and its attitude towards this situation. That's all they needed to do was put a heater in the room. I will def be coming back to New York, I love it, but I will never return to this hotel and will be looking to take this matter further once we arrive back in the UK. Manhattan at Times Square - you have let yourselves down! Collapse

Stayed for 3nights with two kids. The lobby is great, clean, illuminated with nice front desk. Very kind reception. Asher's and front desk people. When got the key and went to elevator, I could see the bad side. The lift looked dirty and unpleasant. When hot out if the elevator , the corridor, with stained carpets and not installed properly. It's a bumpy way to my room. The doors and the walls in the corridor were dirty and with stained as well. The room. The view as depicted. Great view, big room with 2, double beds. Sufficient storage. With coffee machine an iron. Basic. Very dusty room, was cleaned on the last day after complaint. Didn't try the breakfast. 2 very close subway stations, makes it easy to get around. Plenty of theaters around , just buy a ticket and walk there. I went to lion king. Plenty of diners around. Plenty of drugstore as well. 5min walk from red steps, Rockefeller center. Collapse

The lobby is very inviting ,the only problem are the corridors, when you exit the elevator, this is a different story, the carpets are old and dirty and need urgent replacement, as well at the paint in the corridors are old and scratch, we know they are renovating this Property, but their attention is needed, for some important cosmetic job... Otherwise the price is great as well as location, very near Time Square, will visit again, asking for renovated rooms and floors, if available.. Collapse

Arrived about 9am and knew room would not be available at this time., but wanted to leave our luggage and do check in. The Lobby resembled a train station with people and bags everywhere, a dog and a very long counter que. Really wondered what we had booked. 3 staff at reception, but only 2 serving.. the customers were restless with the wait. I waited at least 35 minutes for my turn. Check in very thorough, and friendly staff. We had booked and paid in advance via a travel agent, and hence I was very confused and concerned when it was explained to me that I HAD to pay a Resort fee . This wasn't a tax, but a fee to use of Off site gym, internet and unlimited landline phone calls. (non of which I required) . However, there was no option to this, and an extra $US 27.50 per day ($US192:50) debited to my cash card was charged PLUS $US200 forincidentals, which is the norm in most hotels, and refunded on departure. Several days later I checked my card statement and saw I had AlLSO been charged for the 7 night stay, an amount of approx US1500 . I made several attempts to sort this out with reception, but was told the transaction would be reversed after our check out and to watch my statement as it would take a couple of days to appear on the statement after that. This meant we had $US1500 less than budget for spending money! Not happy. The $US1500 and $200 was eventually returned , but well after we left the hotel! NOT GOOD ENOUGH! The room was of good size.. although old and a bit taffy. The bed was very comfy and the small bathroom very clean. The cleaners I met were happy and always a friendly hello. Concierge at the hotel is in presents, but non existing in service. Ask a question and they look it up on a computer, or tell you to do likewise. A small express breakfast bar is in the lobby, but we didn't use it as plenty of good eateries nearby...and the lobby was always over crowded and noisy. If only needing a bed for a night or two, and the rates were decent, yes, I'd say give it go as definitely a good location. But watch, check and query the charges ! . I know my travel agent is not happy and don't think much business will be heading this way. I feel this is a budget hotel in a Mid range price due to the location. Collapse
