I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for four nights during January 2017 on a business trip. I was given a complementary upgrade to a harbour facing room, which was a nice touch and gave me a great view. The hotel is what you would expect from a Mandarin Oriental - lovely rooms, great specifications and thoughtfulness, coupled with amazing service. There is nothing not to like. Nothing was too much trouble and I was left with the view that people really wanted to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. My room was 'international' in design, rather than traditional, and very comfortable. The room was fairly large, as was the bed. The shower was great - with two shower heads in a 'wet room' style - and very powerful. The basin area was separate, and open, and the loo was in its own cubicle, which all worked really well. There were lots of channels on the TV, including numerous channels in English. I had to pay for fast wifi, but I think slower wifi may be available free of charge, but I wasn't able to see how to access it. I only ate breakfast in the hotel - both where the normal buffet is and in the Mandarin Bar and Grill. Both venues and food offerings were great, but a special mention has to go to the latter. A fantastic breakfast served in a wonderful room with spread-out tables and relaxed service. All in all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and returning next time I am in Hong Kong. Collapse
One member of staff let everyone down. Otherwise a SUPERB hotel.

We stayed here for two nights in a harbour view room. The room was absolutely beautiful. Faultless. The room has everything you could need. Reception staff and concierge especially went out of their way to make our stay straightforward. We are in the Clipper restaurant for lunch and it was excellent. Staff polite and attentive. We were let down only by the way we Were treated in the shop. It was late and the shop staff member Noel Yu was counting money and made us wait without acknowledging us for several minutes. She was abrupt in her manner, unfriendly and her demeanour suggested she was doing us a favour by serving us. It took us by surprise as everyone else had been absolutely wonderful in this hotel and we would definitely stay here again. Collapse

It is not an easy task to pick a hotel to stay at in HK because of the vast number of great properties in this city. MO came into mind as it has been known for its legendary service and as a kid growing up in HK, MO's Clipper Lounge had provided some fond memories for me. Booking: Booking through the hotel's website was a breeze with Best Rate guaranteed, you do not need to go far and to different websites to look for a better deal. Check-in: I arrived at the hotel at around 6:30pm on a Saturday evening and it was moderately busy at the lobby but I was able to be checked in straight away. The process was quick and efficient with me being personally escorted to my room in a little less than 5 min. Room: I have been upgraded to a junior suite (from a Harbour view room). Room is not large in today's standard but comfortable enough with a sitting area (with a 2 seater sofa along with 2 one-seater armchair) on one side, a king size bed on the other (separated by a central column panel where the TVs are hung). The room is heavily decorated with wood panels and it provide a very warm homey feel to it, while the rooms may not be very contemporary in design but I feel that it suits well with MO's heritage. View: Not the best view as it overlook the office building across the street. There is, however a balcony which is accessible form the room, which gives you a glimpse of the Victoria Harbour through the various office buildings. The downgrade of view from the room (from originally my Harbour view room) have been compensated by the slightly larger in floor size and better comfort. Amenities: Bathroom amenities are provided by Bottega Veneta and they are of decent size. Nespresso coffee machine is available Room has mood lighting and is separately control for the sitting area and bedroom area. Conclusion: The hotel may have slipped in its ranking in recent years but service pre and post arrival js still impeccable. Service is readily available and is warm and efficient. Would I recommend it?: Yes. Will I come back?: Possibly :) Overall Score: 9/10 Collapse

During our first visit to Hong Kong, we stayed at 3 properties, including the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong (which is their flagship property). Located on Hong Kong Island, in the financial district, this property was outstanding in every way! The decor in the public areas as well as in the room was true old world elegance. The room was nice and comfy with all types of amenities. Hermes is the brand for their bath products! Truly luxurious. Housekeeping really impressed us with their thoughtful touches such as leaving bookmarks for our books and a lens cleaner for our eye glasses. Just amazing! We had afternoon tea as well as the breakfast and dinner buffets in the Clipper Lounge. The selections were unbelievable and the quality was first rate. We also had an opportunity to have dinner one evening at Cafe Causette which was a cute cafe where we enjoyed a light dinner. We decided to try Man Wah which specializes in traditional Cantonese cooking and we are so glad that we did! We ordered Peking duck and it was carved table-side for us! As you would expect from a Mandarin Oriental property, all of the team members displayed a true desire to enhance the guest experience which made our visit to Hong Kong a very special one. All team members were wonderful but I would like to say that Hugh (front desk), Jeremy (assisted us with luggage, greeter) and Raymond and I believe her name was Mary in the Clipper Lounge, made a lasting impression on us. My sincerest thanks to all! Mr. L Kim and Mr. N Lee Collapse

The location is great. It's right at the heart of the city with shops and restaurants close by. The service was fantastic. I had a small tear in my jeans and asked if they were able to repair it. They offered to do this for free which I went for and was pleasantly surprised by this. They did a great job of it. They also pay small attention to the details like wrapping my iPhone cable in their specially made velcro strips. The room was large, clean and quiet. The pool upstairs was also nice and modern. The breakfast was a bit pricey and didn't have much of a variety however the quality was good. Collapse
