We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for 5 days as our 10th wedding anniversary celebration. We also had our 4yo with us. I would really have liked to give them a better review, unfortunately things didn't go very smoothly from the start. We had to request a date change of our stay which they have done very promptly. However a few days before check in, they sent us a confirmation with the wrong dates. When I checked with the reservation team, they explained it was an automatic email generated by their system, without an apology. It is quite unexpected from such a well established hotel. We had also requested children facilities (rollaway bed, toiletries) but they weren't prepared when we checked in. The receptionist had to follow up with the housekeeping team. Again I would have expected a smoother process from MO. Breakfast was very average. I do agree with some reviews that it felt busy at times - we sat outside in the garden which helped to an extent. Service could have been more attentive. (The staff are always busy tidying up but they seem to forget to check on the customers.) The most frustrating thing is the room amenities. I could barely get the hairdryer out from the drawer as the lead was too short. There weren't enough sockets in the city suite. And none of them was near a mirror so using the straightener is like doing a sprint - run to the mirror to check on hair, run back to straightener - not fun. Collapse

Hotel was quite busy of the weekend we stayed, with parades out front and weddings, but we did not feel disturbed or inconvenienced in any way. Recommended. Collapse

I have stayed at this hotel around 10-15 times in the past 2 years unfortunately as it's on our company preferred list. In short, this is an enormous hotel with poor service, bad attitude and expect to line up for everything. It's also taken me over 20o minutes on the hotel wifi to get to the point I can actually submit this report as the bandwidth is poor. At breakfast, expect a line of 15-20 minutes long just to get in and then wait for the throngs of people to actually get to some food. The check in and out process is the same and often takes 20-30 minutes. This hotel simply caters for mainland Chinese tourist bus loads and hapless corporate locked in travelers. Enough for me, if I can find a tent in a garden nearby I am there. Collapse

i was in hospital for quite some time thats why i write this trip report rather late. we stayed at the mandarin oriental singapore one year ago (april 23-25, 2016) but still remember each minute of it as it was one of the best hotel experiences we ever had while in asia. thats why i still like to express my gratitude to the management n staff of this wonderful place n write this report.. we stayed in a club marina bay view room (#1908).. we contacted hotel by email n arranged limousine service from/to singapore airport n it worked well.. upon arrival the check-in procedure was done at the oriental club lounge in a very friendly, explanatory n speedy way. i paid the room in advance thru my travel agent so i just had to leave a reasonable deposit for extra charges as i dont use credit card. but that is very common n no problem at all. so first impression was ++ .. right after check-in we sat down at the nice, stylish, luxurious n peaceful oriental club lounge n enjoyed our first complimentary drinks n snacks. awesome.. once we saw our room it was another wow factor. the stunning view from the large window front covering the whole marina bay.. the room was absolute to our liking n much more than what a traveller expects from a hotel room ..it felt more like a homy apartment! on top of that a complimentary bottle of champagne and a "facebook like" cake was waiting for us!!! (it seems that whoever is a mandarin oriental singapore fan at facebook gets this awesome cake upon arrival) the room size is more than expected (abt 34sqm) but most important is that each part of the design n architecture of the room makes sense. u have power plugs, lamps, drawer, etc at the right places n all seemed to work properly.. there is a desk which is truly large enough to work on it. the chairs were comfy.. the bed, in my opinion the most important feature of a hotel room, was excellent n gave me hour long deep sleep, which is quite rare for me. so the matress was great. i move around during my sleep but the bed was wide enough.. the bathroom was well equipped, shower cabin impeccably clean n no stains or limescale. the bathtub even big enough for large person that i am.. the cleaning department makes an excellent job. which can be said for the entire room. the complementry shower gel, soap, lotion, shampoo etc is of very high quality n enough quantity.. now commenting on f&b.. we ate breakfast at the oriental club lounge n the buffet choice was outstanding n quality very good n all fresh. buffet was always replenished n service always on hand to refill coffee tea or whatever one required. for breakfast they even serve complimentary champagne..what a start of the day... i hv to compliment about the eggs benedict/poached eggs. best i ever got at any hotel.. we had dinner at melt cafe restaurant, which offers huge buffet style dinner.. the food n drink choices were great n of high quality.. only drawback was that the staff didnt care about dresscode of guests. management has to rectify that. cannot be allowed to hv guests sitting at restaurant in a luxury hotel just wearing flipflops, tanktops n shorts etc.. so the experience was just a so/so.. the axis lounge n bar, however, is an abode of peace n tranquility n style.. excellent staff who know their cocktails well.. highly recommendable.. we also attended the daily pre-evening happy hours at the oriental club lounge. great experience. truly nice athmosphere. staff always there for u n complimentary snacks (real food actualy, was enough to enable u to skip dinner) n drinks were of good quality n huge variety! the hotel pool must be the largest in singapore.. u can truly excercise n swim lane by lane.. stunning view over marina bay as well.. awesome pool attendants n staff who take care of yr needs speedily.. always complimentary cold water n cool facial towels.. the check-out process at club lounge was as speedy as the check-in. baggage pick up frm room without a problem, called club lounge desk n somebody came within 5minutes.. checking the bill was easy cause all correct. the cash deposit deducted frm bill - as it should be.. to sum it up: it was a wonderful experience n i wished we could have stayed longer. but surely we will be back n we will wholeheartedly recommend the mandarin oriental singapore to our friends n to everybody here at tripadvisor..
