Stayed here for 2 nights for a conference over the weekend and I must say I was pleased with the overall stay. We paid a very nominal fee to upgrade to an executive suite (this included breakfast, use of the gym facilities and free bar between 5.30pm-9.30pm). Our room was huge...really it was massive. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you'd need (iron, ironing board, bathrobe, slippers, fridge, kettle etc). The bathroom was also very clean, bright and modern with plenty of fresh towels. Be warned however that the room Wi-Fi was terrible...my phone struggled to connect at all for most of the weekend. The executive suite bear reception was fine, but I'm unsure if I'd call it executive to be honest. It felt a bit like a place where people who have paid that bit extra get to sit and feel good/righteous about themselves, whilst others walk past and can't get into the key coded room. That said the drinks on offer were good and there were plenty of nibbles...although I didn't think these were filled up enough for the amount of people using the suite and people seemed to be waiting for food. To be fair it was only staffed by one man so he probably struggled on his own to keep up. We didn't eat an evening meal here however breakfast was okay, not the best I've had but not the worst. Very few options for gluten free (had to ask for some gf bread for toast only to be told the chef didn't think he had any then disappear for 3 years trying to fine some). The selection was okay (standard full English and a fruit selection etc). Some of the staff seemed a bit gormless as our request for tea each morning was forgotten about meaning we had to politely re-ask for some on both occasions! I have to say however that the gym facilities and pool at the hotel were excellent, a real treat. The gym was clean and spacious with loads of cardio and resistance machines to go at. The pool was also huge for a hotel pool, although Saturday morning was full of toddlers having swimming lessons watched by helicopter parents scowling at you for not being one of them!! Intimidating to say the least. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi however were also really nice and a nice place to escape the watching parents. As I've said my overall stay was enjoyable and the hotel was very pleasant. The lack of Wi-Fi let it down, the room numbering/room layout is ultra confusing (take a compass) and the extremely noisy guests were annoying to say the least. The heavy room doors were being slammed at all hours, guests passing by our room were very loud and we even had one lady next door serenading us at 4.30am on Sunday morning. Collapse

We stayed here before our flight to NYC and what a relaxing stay we had. Firstly the executive hotel room was large with two really comfy beds, warm and clean with a lovely bathroom and the executive lounge with free food, drinks (including alcoholic), biscuits and fruit was top class. My wife and daughter also used the pool which was again very relaxing with the sauna, steam room and seating areas. If I was to try and find fault which I am certainly not it would be the rooms are like a maze and are far away from reception. However, once your room is found its only a short walk from everything....Excellent hotel....Thanks Collapse

Fabulous pre flight stay, we had booked an executive suite just for that’s extra special stay and we’re not disappointed. The room was huge, comfortable, quiet and with all the usual amenities. We had the privilege of using the spa, sauna and steam room followed by a visit to the executive lounge where we were greeted and offered a variety of drinks, snacks and tasty food. We had planned to eat I. The cast iron grill but this sufficed and we retired feeling full and watered. We will most definitely use this hotel again before early morning flight. We also had time to grab breakfast , excellent choices available and just what we needed before an 8 hour flight, well done Marriott staff, it was a pleasure. Collapse

First the positives; the hotel itself has recently undergone a makeover. I’d been offered an upgrade to a refurbished room at a nominal charge prior to checking in which I took advantage of. Staff at check in and check out were friendly, and the room itself was very comfortable, spacious and clean. There are USB charging points on the bedside lamps and also at the desk, which is a helpful touch. Plenty of fluffy towels, a bathrobe and slippers were provided. I can’t rate the hotel more than average for 2 main reasons. Firstly, the day before I stayed I noticed some charges on my card; I’d checked in online so expected the usual pre-authorisation but there was another charge I didn’t recognise. At check-in it became clear that I had been charged twice for my upgrade. The receptionist struggled to refund the additional cost to my account and had to engage one of her colleagues which delayed the process quite considerably (it would have been nice if she could have just assured me it would be resolved and let us go to the room as we’d arrived quite late at night). She then forgot to tell us where the room was. The hotel has a very unusual layout and the room numbering is frankly Kafkaesque. As reviewers have noted you end up walking past myriad other guests who are trying to find their room. An array of signs direct you to dead ends, point in different directions or just stop altogether. We did eventually find the room but struggled to get back to reception (there’s only one lift and it’s at one end of the huge building). I’d planned to take advantage of the express checkout but noticed that they had added the duplicate upgrade charge back onto the bill so had to check out manually. We highlighted the issue to the receptionist at checkout who advised they knew about it so for me it’s about time they got someone in to update the signage. These issues spoilt what could have been an excellent stay. Collapse
