We visited Malaga just before Easter this year and stayed in Room 518 of Salles Hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by a warm, friendly lady at reception who made us feel welcome and checked us in. The room itself was quite compact with old fashioned décor, dark stained 80s style wooden furniture and a modern fitted wardrobe. The sliding door on the wardrobe was broken when we got there, it had come off it's rail and wouldn't budge. The whole thing was warped but I managed to push the door back onto the railing and got it working. The beds were rock hard, I don't mean firm, I mean solid, like sleeping on a plank of wood. After the first night, I inspected the whole thing and discovered that what looked like a sprung Divan base was just an upholstered wooden frame topped with a cheap open sprung mattress. A hotel can get away with a lot of things but uncomfortable beds isn't one of them. You would think that with the room being compact, the bathroom might also be compact so we were surprised to find a massive, luxurious bathroom completely decked out in red marble. The bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom. Then we come onto the refilling problem. The hotel seemed to have a blind spot when it came to restocking the room. Tea, coffee and UHT milk were not replaced until we asked at reception. Toiletries such as bath foam were not replaced either. I suspect this may have just been an oversight on the part of the cleaners but the problem persisted throughout our 4 nights there. Good points, the rooftop bar and pool is a nice touch but very busy. The staff were always helpful and smiling so what would have been annoyances were smoothed over by their positive attitude. Also the location is excellent, you are literally a stones throw from the old town. Finally, regarding breakfast, it was ok - the usual fayre of English breakfast or cold buffet. For 13 Euros though, you would be better off just strolling into town for a more authentic Spanish breakfast such as Churros for half the price. Collapse

Came during the Easter holidays. The hotel is in a perfect location and many supermarkets ( so cheap!!) around, so you can but your own drinks for less then a Euro. Paying for B/F in the hotel is cheaper then booking with BOOKING.COM they charge too much! Collapse

An excellent hotel for what we needed being very close to the old town and the port – walking distance – and at the same time it’s only a 10 mins walk from the local train station which links directly to the airport (12 mins further away for just a 1.80E fare). Breakfast included in the price of our stay was superb – fresh and varied in that it offered both a full cooked option and a continental alternative – both of which comprised an extensive choice. Rooms were large, very clean and comfortable with great views from ours – and the bathroom was extensive with twin sinks and a bath with shower over. The TV had a couple of English channels alone. The downside for want of a better description was that the hotel bar slavishly closed at midnight bar none and the much advertised pool area on the roof was closed off because of some remedial work …. But in the 5 days that we were there we never saw anybody working on it and we were on the top floor !? Further, the kettles in the room weren’t accompanied by tea or coffee – there was decaf coffee and fruit teas – if you’re going to make the effort to provide this facility it seems silly not to at least provide the essentials. All that said I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again for it’s location alone as well as the copious amount of comfortable seating in the lounge / lobby area …. even if you couldn’t get anything to drink late on ! Stayed at this wonderful hotel for two nights. This hotel not only kept my cousin's delayed luggage while we were in Morocco, they also upgraded our room at 10 dollars more (which is nothing) to a room with a view and large 2 sinks bathroom! The bar and pool upstairs wit a 360 view of Makaga was serene and breathtaking ( great for instagram photo ops!). The old city section of Malaga was 5 minute walking distance! I recommend this hotel without hesitation! Collapse

Good room and facilities, satisfying breakfast, clean, good view from small but adequate rooftop pool. Helpful staff. Some noise at night but not too troubling. Perfect location. What more could you want?.....
