Just back from a week in the Majestic Palace. We paid the additional charge for the superior room and we delighted with its comfort, size and excellent cleaning service. The hotel itself is very spacious and attractive. The staff are pleasant, helpful, professional and informative. The food was the big let down,it reminded me of my years in boarding school. We were presented with the option of the same precooked fish on two consecutive days.A chicken leg and a poor quality, dried out beef stew was our option one night.A devise to hide the pre cooked nature of the meal was to coat it in tomato sauce. The desserts were the same every night and were very similar to the breakfast confectionery. The dining room was fabulous in appearance but the food was better suited to a school canteen. Classic old world hotel but food lets it down. Staff in general are very good including front of house. We stayed half board which we found a bit boring the 2nd week so we ate out in the evening most of the week. Breakfast was a buffet while a bit same o same o cold meats, cheese, mushrooms, melon, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, small sausages & bacon, some Italian cake including doughnuts. No fresh fruit juice which was surprising considering there were oranges left to rot in the garden. Coffees were from a machine, not nice. Evening meals were 4 courses with 2nd starter and mains waiter Service and 1st starter and dessert a buffet. Mains portions were small which was why we ate out. The dining room was nice and bright and the service was good. The bar was nice with friendly staff but prices were above the local cafe/bars. Entertainment was provided ~3 times a week but we were there only once and they were ok.We didn't use the pool but it looked ok but no parosols for shade and temperature was in the mid 3o's. There is a roof garden where you can sit and read and on the 2nd floor there is an area to lie out. The room was nice and bright facing the garden on the 1st floor with a balcony. Towels and bed sheets were changed 3 times a week and room was cleaned. Bathroom was ok shower was good as was bath. Sorrento is about 25 mins walk but we preferred the scenic route which has less traffic, turn left out of hotel. bus and train are also nearby . Collapse

I stayed here with my 2 sons (18 and 21) for a week in July. We had a very nice triple bedded room - although it took 3 requests to get the double bed separated to 2 singles. Our room was quiet - no stomping feet from above, or noises from next door. The roof terrace is very nice - although the artificial green grass is a bit lurid! Lovely views, and a beautiful garden, which seemed to be completely un-used. The reception staff were so helpful (apart from the small point of the beds) - answered my frequent and numerous questions with charm and a smile. The pool is lovely, although overshadowed by trees for some of the day, as the sun moves round. But big enough to swim properly, if you've got the energy, and a child's section. The terrace is a nice place to move over to for lunch, and in the evening after dinner - a couple of evenings there was live music - we really enjoyed the evening that Gerry was performing, although my younger son was mortified when I got up and danced with another lady, and sang at the microphone! The restaurant is very nice - spacious and bright. Buffet breakfast, so much choice. But why a coffee machine? Rubbish coffee - in Italy???! Dinner was not exactly gourmet, but perfectly good for the price. Four choices for primo and secondo, and a buffet dessert table - yummy little sweet puddings. The waiters were lovely - thanks so much to Ephraim and his brother, Vincenzo - vi saluto! We had fun with the photos on our last dinner. The only thing against this hotel is its distance from Sorrento town centre (although Sant'Agnello centre is 7 mins walk away - a good supermarket there). Buses go from the top of the road, but otherwise its a half hour walk, Perhaps the hotel could consider a minibus?? However, Sant'Agnello train station is only 5 mins walk, then 3 mins into Sorrento. All in all, we had a great time and we'd definitely consider going back there. Collapse

Lovely hotel. Good setting. Large room with lovely view from balcony. Clean rooms, comfy bed, However, our room only had one plug socket - in the bathroom. Not happy about having to charge iPad and phones on edge of wash basin. Friendly staff BUT awful food. Breakfast buffet was limited and of very basic standard. Lots of fresh oranges on the trees in hotel garden yet they serve horrible orange cordial. Tinned fruit and mushrooms. Horrible machine coffee. They sell good coffee in the bar but don't open until breakfast has ended. Evening meal very basic - felt like I was back in 1970s! Tinned veg, boil in the bag style fish. Very meagre salad bar. Cake selection basic and pasta served cold. Drinks very expensive compared to local bars and restaurants. Hotel pool area is very cramped with limited sun beds. Pool ridiculously deep. Why does it need to be 3 metres deep??? However, we had a lovely holiday, went to local restaurants and bars and Thomson reps Leah, Nicole and Ben were extremely helpful, friendly and professional.
