Although the wedding experience with friends and family was very enjoyable, I have to say it was tainted by the policies and hosting capabilities of the hotel. It was strongly felt they did not have the level of expertise to deliver a satisfactory level of service to such an important event. In addition, it appears that the policy of this hotel is to exploit their wedding guests by grossly inflating their bar prices. A prime example of this is 2 nips of Glenffidich whisky costing the groom and a family member £32 ...yes...you read this right. £8 for a glass of wine, £2.50 for a dash of coke/lemonade, and at one point, a member of the staff apologised for the prices, stating the price hike was for the "upkeep of the hotel". Personally, I find this an abhorrent decision by the hotel management which can only be perceived as exploiting the good will and nature of the wedding party as a whole. Worst of all and completely unacceptable was the fact that they knew there were small children attending the wedding and with a four hour gap before the main meal, there were absolutely no provisions for snacks or bites made behind the two bars in the hotel. This review is echoed by many of the guests and I truly hope the management learn from their mistakes. As a result, I would not recommend this venue for a wedding party. Collapse

Stayed at this beautiful hotel whilst in the area for business. Found it to be very reasonably priced on Hotels website. Booked in for one night, when I arrived the reception was lovely and warm. Shown to my room on the second floor, room had fantastic views over the snow covered mountain. The room was lovely, en suite was fabulous with underfoor heating and very clean and tidy. Good WiFi in the room and the bed was one of the nicest I’ve ever slept in. Only criticism would be the hike from reception to the rooms, togged up in coats and carrying heavy bags it was a mammoth trek up and down stairs and corridors, but hey it’s an old building. Eat in the restaurant that night, the food was lovely, portion size was a tad small but I do have a healthy appetite! Service was brilliant and the staff were very attentive and pleasant. I would definitely recommend staying, and will do so myself again. Thank you. Collapse

Stunning place to stay for overnight accommodation and meals, excellent service and food, friendly staff and great assistance when required, even Cleared the car park and drive of 6in of snow to allow easy access to the road.

We received an afternoon tea gift voucher for our anniversary, & 6mths later finally got round to booking it! Having frequented Pittodrie House on numerous occasions we were not disappointed . We had a fantastic afternoon tea in the drawing room; sat in front of the roaring fire. There was a delicious selection of freshly made finger sandwiches, scones and cakes & the staff were perfectly attentive. Collapse

Imposing old hotel in beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. Nice welcome at reception on arrival. I asked for a view just in case we didn’t have one. No problems. Large room with sofa and great view of Bennachie, Aberdeenshire’s only “mountain”. At first glance room is very nice. Large bed is very comfortable with quality linen, pillows etc. However, TV has no remote. No replacement still after 30 mins but I managed to use the remote app on my mobile. A remote appeared following day. Talking of mobiles - There is very little or no phone signal here, no fault of the hotel but if you need a phone it’s worth knowing. Free WiFi is also very, very poor. Nice touch of Nespresso machine in room. Unfortunately it doesn’t work. Sorted following day. The bathroom with double sinks, bath and large shower looks very new and was very clean. But why does the light need to stay on for 10 minutes after you leave? I understand the fan but not the light. No shower gel supplied and a half used bottle of body lotion? The shower is very nice but badly designed as there is no door handle on the inside. A short person or child will have difficulty if they cannot reach the top of the door. Ate at the hotel on the first night. We thought that the dinner menu was a bit limiting so decided to have a bar meal. Unfortunately my wife’s first choice of macaroni cheese was no available as they had run out of macaroni! I was asked if I wanted chunky chips or skinny fries with my burger. I chose chunky chips. I got skinny fries. Generally the food was overpriced for the quality and the drinks very pricey. As part of a large group the price of drinks is not too surprising. We ate elsewhere on the second night. Breakfast was fine. Our two night stay had been prepaid. However, on departure we were presented with a bill for the meal along breakfasts that had already been paid for and coffees that we never had. This was rectified after discussion. For the record, when we had told our friends who stay locally that we were staying here their initial thoughts had been, “Oh dear”. Unfortunately, they didn’t let us know until later. It does not bode well if this is the view of locals. The hotel has the potential to be an excellent venue for a short break or could be a wonderful wedding venue but there are far too many niggling issues that need to be put right first. This is all down to management and training. Collapse
