We only stayed a couple of nights whilst returning our son to uni. The hotel is in a lovely, peaceful part of the city but only about a five minute drive from the centre. The staf were friendly, polite and helpful from beginning to end. We only had breakfast in the hotel, because we had made prior arrangements, but that was delicious. Next time we look forward to trying a lunch or evening meal. We did enjoy a nightcap in the bar where my husband was spoilt for choice with the array of whisky. Collapse

I was involved in a Charity function at Norwood Hall Hotel, Aberdeen on Sunday, 19th November, to which I had invited several people to attend. The menu appeared attractive- chicken, skirlie and the usual veg. This was to be followed by profiteroles. What was served was a boneless boiled chicken thigh, swimming in what looked like BISTO gravy, with 3 green beans and a couple of bits of potato and carrot. No skirlie- which may have given this some flavour...Similarly, the dessert was a very cheap frozen thing with a scoop of ice cream. I am left feeling really embarrassed by the whole thing. The visitors had paid £35 -of which £10 went to the charity and £25 to the hotel. The mark up on what we were presented must have been 500%. I certainly couldn't eat mine and some other people returned theirs- to be given a duplicate. I cannot understand why a hotel like this would serve us something I would feed my dog!! I will NEVER return to Norwood! Collapse
Money grabbing and nothing five star about it

I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents and am astounded at the amount charged for the quality received, which just amounts to being pretentious. - Charged £15 per night parking despite having grounds. - Charged £25 per head for breakfast and nothing amazing about it e.g. no fresh baked bread or locally produced sausages. - Couldn't get back into the room following an excursion at 4pm as the maid was still cleaning it. - Furniture looked tired e.g. scratched, bits coming off the bathroom side panel. - Initially placed in a room with the generator to the spa outside. Having been travelling around the country staying at other five star hotels this pales in comparison. Collapse
I would highly recommend this lovely hotel

It was my birthday and I had been wanting to stay in the Norwood Hall Hotel for a while now so I got my wish for my birthday. I had seen photos of the hotel online, but they do not do it justice. It is the most beautiful old hotel I have stayed in. This old mansion house has been kept and restored to a very high standard. Everywhere I looked I was amazed at how beautiful it was. It has a fantastic staircase, an amazing library, lots of open fires all lit and welcoming you in. The dining room is the most amazing room. It felt like I was in an old, very grand castle. It had a huge stain-glass windows, lovely old paintings, a huge fireplace and the walls were padded and covered with beautiful tapestries instead of wallpaper. It was just amazing. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome at reception. The receptionist acknowledged my elite membership with the Macdonald Hotel group and gave us a room upgrade with lovely chocolates in the room and a lovely welcome card. The room was on the third floor and was huge. It had a very large, very comfortable bed, a suit, a large TV etc. Coffee/tea tray with lovely shortbread. It also had a lovely big bathroom with a large shower and bath. Very nice. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. I had booked dinner at the hotel so when we went down we received a lovely welcome from the barman/ waiter and the restaurant manager. We had a lovely table by the fire with nice relaxing music playing in the background. The food was excellent with lovely little surprise tasters between each course. These were very cute and added to the lovely experience. At the end of our meal the Head Chef came through with a plate of lovely sweet treats he had prepared for my birthday. Wow, they certainly know how to make you feel special . Breakfast next day was excellent, with a good choice of cereal, fruit, pastries etc. to help yourself to. Your tea and toast were served to your table which is so nice as was the cooked breakfast. This was prepared freshly to order from quite a wide menu so everything was delicious and fresh. All the staff we met throughout our stay were very friendly and welcoming. I would like to thank them all for making my birthday stay so special. I would highly recommend this hotel and cant wait for another excuse to go back there again x Collapse

Wedding organisation was flawless and the three course meal was delicious, especially the haggis starter. Room was a good size and very clean. Can’t really fault our stay. Collapse

We only had one night here as attending a friends wedding at same venue. Had a pleasant welcome with all facilities clearly explained and given directions to my room. Very impressed with the congenial feel of this hotel and found my accommodation to be spacious and comfortable with that old school georgian feel. The wedding was a great success with all needs catered for , attentive staff ,down side was the price of the drinks. Had an enjoyable breakfast before departure.(recommend the eggs royal) I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel in Aberdeen Collapse
