My partner and I stayed for two nights in the hotel... we have such a good time loved the food in the restaurant and the staff were really friendly and helpful also.. on our last day we decided to go for massages, on check in for our massages we were left standing at the desk while the manager with red hair was hiding behind her mirror doing her make up.. we let out a cough to be greeted no reply then this smiley small girl came and checked us in and gave us forms while the manager still sat at her desk applying her make up and checking on her personal phone SHOCKING... the girls who did our massages where absolutely amazing and very friendly not like there manager... after massages we were brought to the relaxing room.We could see that the girls were very busy that day and they had already taken the next customers in but there was no water left. My partner approached the spa manager who was on a personal call to her bank, he interrupted her and asked for some water, she replied I'm very busy. Management of this hotel need to pay attention to the type of people that represent this hotel. Collapse

The general attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired. There was an obvious element of rudeness from the staff and you are made to feel as an inconvenience, rather than a welcomed guest. We ate in the bar when we arrived and once we were given menus we were then made wait nearly 20 minutes to give an order. My husband went to place the order at the bar and were told "I'll be over now in a minute", 5 minutes later the order is finally taken! Food took a further 30 to arrive! It was a fun hour with two hungry kids! When we visited the leisure centre, I asked the girl at the desk if I could borrow a coin so I could use the lockers in the changing room, I was begrudgingly given one and told while the coin was smacked on the desk that "you'll need to give this back as it's from the till!" Like I'd embarrass myself by 'stealing' a Euro from her. I don't know if management just have the hotel under staffed or if they can't get staff but it makes a big impression on a guest how they are treated! I won't be making a returned visit! Collapse

This hotel is advertised as a Spa hotel, which from the website i would expect to be of a very high standard. While the hotel itself looks beautiful and impressive from a distance there is no attention to detail. Certain areas are looking worn and dirty - carpets for example look thoroughly grubby and everything in our room was quite dusty and marked. We arrived at 4pm and enjoyed a glass of fresh watermelon water in reception upon arrival, we used the last glasses for our drink, then later in the evening we returned for another glass to find the only glasses available were our dirty ones from many hours earlier - this is totally unacceptable when there are at least 2 members of staff on reception right next to it. We were looking forward to a relaxing dip in the pool but found that it was full of children having swimming lessons - while i appreciate that they need lessons somewhere i don't think that a Spa hotel is the right place - if i had booked expensive spa treatments i would expect a relaxing & peaceful day around the pool, not a load of noisy children. In the evening we were planning to celebrate my birthday with a few cocktails in the bar followed by a light meal - we were informed by the barman that you don't serve cocktails - i wouldn't expect this from any decent hotel! We had a look at the menu for food but decided that the choices were very limited and over-priced, so drove to a restaurant in Kinsale instead. I think you need to decide what type customers this hotel is aimed at - if a luxury spa with high prices for treatments then a luxury feel should be made, if families are what you are aiming for then spa prices should reflect this. We stayed at this hotel when it was under Carlton management. The decor was very modern in the lobby, and in the guestroom. The service in upstairs bar was good, with a lovely sea view. I especially enjoyed the grounds, which have well-manicured pathways. The breakfast was wonderful, don't skip it. Tourist Tip #1: The hotel has a shuttle (for a cash fee) to town every half-hour. I highly recommend this service, especially for night time excursions. Tourist Tip #2: This is a big wedding venue. If there on a weekend, keep your parking spot and use the shuttle. Tourist Tip #3: The spa pool and hot tub close on time. To enjoy, be sure to get there 30-min before the posted close time. They start shutdown clean-up early. Collapse
