Unfortunately, the hotel had not received a confirmation of our booking so no room had been booked for us. They found us a room, an executive style (not standard) in the older part of the hotel. The only thing i think could make it executive was the size of the bathroom. It was a double room rather than a twin as requested but they never got the request and i was just thankful to get a room. The decor is traditional (old fashioned) and no double glazing. On the saturday night there was a wedding reception and the music was loud and clear in our room. I phoned reception at about 12.45 am to find out when it would end and the night porter thought about 1am. At 1.30 i phoned again and he assumed it had stopped, if it had, why would i be phoning? i went down to reception and spoke to the night porter and noticed the night manager (so i was told) heading off with some dry cleaning to deliver. Shame about me waiting to speak to someone in authority! the reception eventually finished about 2am. I want people to enjoy their wedding receptions but it was not fair to put us in a room nearby without warning us of possible noise. The wedding reception was in a separate building but the music could still be heard. The morning reception staff were very helpful. They put us in a room on the opposite side of the hotel for the following night, however, this time we could hear the traffic from the road running adjacent to the hotel. It was coming in loud and clear through the air vent in the bathroom! we did get a twin room this time with a small bathroom. The other worry was the receptionist on the night of arrival wanted us to pay for the weekend break when i knew we had already paid Superbreak. Luckily, the receptionist on our departure knew that superbreak take the payment in advance. On the positive side, the breakfasts were good and the lady on duty in the bar on the sunday night was extremely helpful with ordering some food for us even though it was not on the bar menu. The leek and potato soup was very tasty and the crumble was delicious. Collapse

Special thanks to Kim and the other girls, they were wonderful and friendly and really enhanced our experience. The bento box meals in the restaurant were delicious and exactly what we needed after all the pampering, and the restaurant itself was beautifully clean and well kept.Thank you for such a fantastic day,we can't wait to book again. 2nd time staying here, most likely the last Set in nice grounds, so certainly appealing from the outside Our room was about 5minutes from reception, it could be an issue for somebody with walking difficulties, or who struggle navigating ! Our room was quite tidy but very old looking, and not in a good way, god knows how old those curtains were . Just wasn't very appealing, kind of felt old and dirty There was a strange sticky mark on the white bed duvet, luckily it was at the bottom so it wasn't near me. I didn't bring this up as due to earlier engagements I didn't get to the room until 8:30pm so I couldn't be doing with the hassle, or the trek to 'reception' - 2 random desks in the foyer area. The bathroom was like a TV show from the 60s very strange decor, bits of tiles missing. Definitely needs an update. The couple we were staying with had a nice room, in fact it was a suite and of a different standard to our old forgotten about room! Booming disco on until late at night, sure this could be heard throughout the hotel . I would describe the bar area as very dated indeed. It is not like an old classic look, just simply old and dated. The bar drinks and food are very expensive. It's ridiculous to be frank. Especially when ordering 3 items and the girl individually asked me what the price was for each item! 'What's the burger price on the menu?'.......'What's the cheese board price on the menu?' I mean come on! My burger was verryy well cooked (burnt), and the bun was chewy. I didn't opt to get cheese or bacon on it as either would cost £1.25 EACH lol! If you are going to serve food until 9:30 in the evening, please make sure the chefs and staff are up to it. I've no problem whatsoever paying a premium for great service and location, but this simply was not the case here. I witnessed the girl bartender/waiter literally take about 7minutes to bring another table some tomato sauce how simple a task! There was a manager type man around at this time, but I think he was missing these mishaps. I must stress I haven't been extra picky in this review, I'm used to staying in a variety of hotels, and with this being a Mcdonald I expected better. I've stayed here twice now and both times experienced 'faulty towers like' behaviour. Collapse

We booked for an over night stop off on our journey to visit family. The hotel looked great when we arrived, lots of trees, open space and plenty of space to park. Staff were friendly and helpful. We eventually found our room, our daughter enjoyed running down the maze like corridors. Room was spacious and clean. We visited the swimming pool so our daughter could burn some energy, small pool and they were a few adults enjoying the sauna's hopefully not pot off by an excited child! We left the pool by 6pm as no children allowed after this time, fair enough. We made our way to the bar, service was great and reasonably priced for a hotel. The food was good. We slept ok, beds were not the most comfortable. Breakfast was nice, coffee was excellent. We will be staying here again on our next family trip. Collapse
