Firstly we arrived for a special 41st anniversary weekend and to meet up with my son and his family who live in Grangemouth. We would have stayed with the family but there is no room at their house so this hotel being 2 minutes away was right for the job or so we thought. We had done 300+ mile journeyto get to the hotel and I had gone down with a bad head cold day before so I was pleased to get into my room for a rest. Firstly we booked with booking.com for two nights + breakfast. The receptionist spoke in a quiet tone and I missed some of what she said. I paid by card and never checked anything. When we got into our room my wife said I thought we had a BnB deal I replied thats right we do then we will be eating with the family. My wife said they want £18 each £72 for the two of us for two days. I juxt said leave it I cant be bothered to argue the point we will go to the Brewers Fair up the road. It was lated that night I realized I had been over charged by some £22 + for my room. On return to the receptionist Iqueried my booking fee and was refunded for the room no mention of the breakfast though. I said to the wife sorry I will not spend another penny in this establishment. My idea was for the family to eat and drink at this hotel with us as a celebration for our wedding anniversary. Instead we used other venues and had a good time. Firstly this place is well overpriced for what it is beautiful outside but thr room was dirty and tatty. Tired decoration as was the furinture, fingermarks on window and mirrors, black mould in the bathroom sink plug looked horrible, dust on tables and the T V screen was filthy all streaky with muck. We were only there for two nights so we slept there only. Our weekend would have been ruined had it not been for our family. Would we stay there again NO over priced mucky tip of a room we will definatly not return. Its my fault I should have looked at the Trip Advisor Reviews on this place and would have seen all the other negatives like mine. Well we have had our fingers burnt never again I may say. IF managenent try to contact me well DO NOT BOTHER because you will get a first class verbal roasting off me. Only thing I will say is get your act together. Collapse

If they can improve the service in this place then it could be good. Positives Reception staff good Pool is big and warm Rooms are a great size (we had a family room) Negatives Changing rooms are far too small En suites could do with updating Food was average, breakfast not great, steak asked for medium rare received well done. Cheesecake was like a doorstop with no taste. Service in the restaurant is really poor. In the evening a young lad spilled some beer on our table and don’t even wipe it up. Nobody asked us how our meal was. We’re never asked if we wanted another drink until we were finished our main meal. At breakfast we stood at the reception podium and were shouted at from a lady at the bar for our name and room number, no idea why she was standing there as it was evident she was managing the breakfast. Took an eternity to get our breakfast and it wasn’t great. The staff just seem really young and doesn’t seem like they have had much training in hospitality. At £102 for a family room with breakfast it wasn’t bad but could be much much better. Collapse
