I recently stopped here for a night at short notice. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished. It's an art deco building and very tastefully and comfortably furnished and decorated. As it has two AA rosettes, I went in to dinner with high expectations. The starter did not disappoint, it was absolutely delicious. However, my main course was less good. The halibut was a bit dry and overcooked, and the carrot puree was ruined by a heavy hand with vanilla, such a shame as it was velvety and would have been superb without the vanilla. I was also surprised that, when the cheeseboard arrived, it was nust plonked down on the table, with not a word as to which cheeses were on offer. I was also a bit surprised when, having requested an Americano, a cafetiere of coffee arrived, and VERY weak at that. Overall a very mixed meal, certainly tasty (mostly) but not what I would expect for the cost - close to £50 a head with two glasses of wine. Breakfast was fortunately very good, and the staff were all delightful. Overall pretty good, and I'll definitely be back, but more attention to detail in the kitchen and this would have been a rave review. Collapse
Lovely visit again but watch wine prices!

Stayed before, nice to visit again, was here for a conference and ate in lounge area and stayed overnight. Lounge area is a bit quirky, lovely and comfortable, but no actual bar. Instead they serve to your table from a "bar-cupboard" near reception. I had a great chicken burger at £14. Price surprise I got was that I asked if they had a Shiraz, since there was none on the menu, they said yes, and it was really nice, had 2 large glasses. But then the bill - £12.50 per glass, £25 for two glasses, which makes it a a £50 bottle of wine - thats pretty steep with no warning!! They should have indicated that is was more expensive than anything on the menu. Room - my goodness, my room was massive and bathroom had a bath as well as large walk in shower - full marks! Collapse
Cell inspections by intrusive staff

After ending a function 2 hours early due to a single individual causing a fight (rather than continue after Police removed him), staff then performed 1am inspections of guest rooms. How dare they treat paying guests, who have already lost out of a good night due to one idiot and over zealous staff, like inmates and check rooms as they do in prisons for contraband?! Not only was having our room checked by your staff insulting in the highest degree but there where two none staffers with them with a list of everyone from the function. Giving out guest names and room numbers to none staff is surely against some company policy. Absolutely disgusting treatment of paying guests. Collapse

Thank you for an incredible stay at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel yesterday. The hotel is beautifully appointed and in excellent condition for an Art Deco hotel. We had a lovely warm welcome from the staff, who couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasurable. Our room was well appointed with every thing you could need and spotlessly clean, there was a beautiful view over the well manicured grounds with lots of parking. We had a drink before dinner and we were provided with a selection of nuts, which made a pleasant surprise. The service for dinner was exceptional from a well balanced menu; there was even a small Chefs starter which was a great compliment to dinner. Our meal was perfect, well balanced which showed a great deal of preparation and professionalism. The dining room centre presentation with the stag and wine bottles was splendid. Over the last few years we have stayed at 17 different Macdonald hotels, some very many times, but this meal has to have been one of the best we have had. Coffee and chocolates in the lounge finished off our meal in style. Breakfast was also outstanding, beautifully presented with a great choice of Scottish produce, we particularly liked the Stornaway black pudding. The manager Mr Zsolt Balogh, provided a warm welcome and enjoyed speaking with us and other guests on arrival, both before and during dinner and he checked on service through out our stay, his attention to detail was superior and highly professional. We have seen his personal warm service previously this year when we stayed at the Loch Rannoch Hotel, where he was the Manager. He is a credit and a great Ambassador for Macdonald Hotels. The team at the Drumossie were excellent and made our stay at this beautiful Art Deco hotel most enjoyable, which we will not forget for some time. Collapse

Check in good. Room large with trouser press, iron, ironing board, tea, coffee and a big plus- note to phone for fresh milk. Adequate toiletries, flannel, comfy bed gowns and slippers, well equipped. Breakfast offered good selection of cereals and fresh fruit with cooked to order so fresh cooked, not kept warm. Small bar/ serving hatch for drinks causes a bottle neck at dinner when everyone's there at the same time. Very attentive staff, but got over extended on Saturday night when had a function on. Overall very good even providing two fire engines at 5am! Collapse
