I would have loved to give the Drumossie a better rating. Lots of positives- the staff are lovely. The bed is supremely comfortable. Lovely big room. Gorgeous location just outside Inverness. Taxi into town was about £7 There was no remote control for the tv and the position of the tv meant it was difficult to change channels manually. Gave up trying to turn it off and slept with the blue screen on all night! Cold tap didn't work and hot water was blisteringly hot. I reported both and a lovely member of staff appeared, unfortunately with the wrong remote! She said she would get maintenance to resolve both the next day. I was there three nights and nothing was resolved. Food is excellent but same menu for the time I was there. Only four choices for main course. It's very expensive and dining room is very 'special occasion'. £19 for breakfast is steep. Despite all this, I would return. Every member of staff I interacted with was really helpful and friendly and it is a beautiful hotel in a peaceful location. Collapse

The pros: beautiful location, great easy parking, big room, amazingly comfortable bed, front desk staff was awesome. The let downs: dinner was over priced and the food just ok, the service in the dining room was just ok, the waitress gave me attitude when I asked about the way the dish was prepared. The shampoo/ soaps weren't replaced daily, so one little bar to use at the sink and shower for several days? Breakfast was one price buffet type, ridiculously overpriced and there was no place to just buy a coffee and sweet roll. Collapse
One of Macdonald's best

Having had rather mixed experiences with the Macdonald group of hotels, it was a delight to find the Drumossie so welcoming and well run. I arrived on the last Sunday evening flight from London at 22.10hrs and the hotel had helped me book a taxi in advance. 20 mins later and I was booking in at Reception. I enquired about late night food more out of hope than expectation and the lady on Reception confirmed that the kitchen staff had gone home. However she volunteered to make some sandwiches and coffee which would be delivered to my room. What a refreshing welcome and service beyond the norm ! My room was well appointed with a very comfortable double bed, flat screen TV, work desk with accessible powerpoints and large cupboard/storage space. The bathroom was almost new with an excellent walk-in shower and safety handle (full marks for the latter), basin, bath and long shelf to house all my washbag items. Sleep was uninterrupted by any extraneous noise - what a joy. Breakfast featured a modest continental buffet (not enough fresh fruit) but a first class Full Scottish Breakfast. The highlight being the wonderfully crumby, spicy black pudding from the famous butchery of Macleod & Macleod in Stornoway. There was a corporate dinner in the Moray Suite which was also commendable for the 12-hour Black Island Beef and local haddock with cheese and chive sauce. Most enjoyable stay and to be recommended. Lovely hotel in good location with plenty if parking and efficient wifi. The hotel pulls off a great version of the Scottish country hotel without overdoing the tartan etc. Large room with lovely big comfortable bed and great shower. Evening meal excellent. Price reasonable given the quality of the food. Halibut and shrimp salsa with crab great as was the steak and the bramble souffle was perfect. We stayed here again a week later having been on the NC 500 and it once again maintained the high standard with the beetroot risotto declared excellent by my wife. Great breakfasts with plenty of choice. Worth every penny. Collapse

Booked to stay for three nights to see the area. Arrived to a great welcome from reception and booked into a Feature Four Poster room with outlook to front and distant view of the Moray Firth. Lovely spacious room with all expected features. Spent early evening listening from our room to pipe band welcome guests to a reception in the main Ballroom (which is to the rear with separate access and does not impinge upon hotel guests). The dining experience throughout the stay was excellent with a great team who made one welcome and looked after every need. Food choice and presentation very good. Breakfast was also excellent with both continental style and cooked - could not resist the kippers and haddock! We returned for a snack lunch one day and that service in the lounge was excellent A great centre to stay with easy road access to the magnificent highland scenery and that of Moray Firth. Easy run into Inverness. In all a very comfortable stay with good friendly service throughout and one in which we could find no fault! Collapse
