We had a room in the new wing rooms are a little tired and could do with a refurb. Appreciate decor needs to fit with the building but its dated. No air con and when its 24 degrees outside the rooms are hot and stuffy. Had to wait 15mins in a queue to check out as only one girl on reception. Other than check in and check out we had no other interaction with staff so can't comment on friendliness of staff. Just ok but not a 4 star in my opinion. Collapse

Been here on business before, this was a more than pleasant suprise, room was ok, shower was excellent, ate in the restaurant off both restaurant & presumably bar menu, quite formal in the restaurant but far from pretentious, warm Goats cheese, apple & walnut salad was very very good. Well worth a visit, was working in Coventry, and whilst this place is 6 miles away, was very good value, compared with closer city centre hotels. Collapse

We stayed here overnight for my sons wedding. I have to say the venue and food was excellent. Far better than I expected. The staff were excellent. As to the accommodation, the rooms could do with a refresh as they are dark. We were on the ground floor and some sort of frosting on the bottom half of the window would be good to stop passers by looking into the room. Might seem like a lot of minuses but the staff (especially Gordon the MC) were brilliant. Collapse

Ansty Hall This was an unplanned visit to Ansty Hall. We decided to find a hotel to stay at after a long day in London and then a long drive back up North. We checked in at about 23.44pm so it was very late after making the booking on route whilst travelling up the M6. Ansty Hall is a lovely 18th-century building set in its own grounds but was not something we could appreciate at such a late hour. The cost of the room was £108 (this did not include breakfast) it would have been £142.00 for a room and breakfast, apparently, this is a 4-star hotel. Check in was smooth and we found our room easily on the ground floor. It had been a very hot day so we had a few drinks in the bar…they don’t take cash after 11.00pm so make sure you have your bank card if you want a drink after this time. My Husband had a beer and I had a LARGE Sauvignon Blanc it came to just over £14.00 for these two drinks, so if you are going to drink in their bar make sure you take lots of money because of a large glass of wine cost at least £10.00. I must say that the room was nothing special and I am not really sure (apart from the nice location) what sets it apart from other less pricey hotels. The room had a trouser press and iron neither of which we used. The bathroom was nicely done with quite a large shower that worked well, with a ‘small’ selection of toiletries supplied. I noticed there was a beetle crawling around in the bathroom and my Husband also found one crawling on him in the bed as well. There is no air conditioning at all and the room was extremely hot even with the window open on the ground floor. We could not leave the curtains open for air circulation because there were no nets on the window providing us with privacy. The bed was comfortable but I found the pillows a little too soft but I do have a neck problem and tend to need a firmer pillow. The tea tray had more than one tea and also provided de-cafe coffee which I was glad for but I found the provision of milk pods to be rather stingy as there were only 4 for two adults with three biscuits. Not sure why there was an odd number. They also provided a complimentary bottle of water, but again it was only small and only one bottle yet it was a room for two people. Apparently, it has Wifi but I could not connect to it so again was disappointed. I have to say having recently stayed at a Welcome Break in Corley in terms of the room I found it to be just as comfortable and nice as Ansty Hall. I cannot say that I got anything special for my £108 and we left in the morning starving hungry as breakfast was not included. Can’t say we got value for money and I will not be in a hurry to return to this location. Collapse
