We stopped here when Robbie Williams was in town. We booked in ok and the room was lovely and clean and comfy. There was no noise in the room so had a great night sleep. Went for breakfast. We were seated at the table by a very abrupt older waitress. We ordered our breakfast 30 mins later it arrived ( a long time for a boiled egg and solders) they had buttered my bread and chucked it back on the plate. I asked for toast with no butter. It never arrived. All in all this is a lovely hotel but breakfast and breakfast staff poor! Collapse

stayed here for only 1 of what was meant to be a 3 night stay. Firstly the restaurant is meant to be a rosette standard, something the AA should look at. The reception was unmanned for so long i took a seat in the bar area where the chairs are threadbare. the bar staff are friendly but not capable of making cocktails. My room overlooked the orangery function room and as it was a hot evening my window was open for some air. unfortunately the noise from the function room meant i had to close it or have no air. after only 5 hours sleep i went for breakfast which was a good standard but for the price was well below the quality expected. even a couple of staff agreed it has gone slightly downhill recently. i have completed the feedback email however felt strongly compelled to write this review. overall for a macdonald hotel and i have stayed at botley park and the portal, this falls well below the company standards of the others. Overnight stay on a Saturday night – my first time staying at a MacDonald Hotel. Room was very big and comfortable, room service in the evening was prompt and food was very good (and surprisingly hot for room service). The dining room for breakfast was an excellent room and the service was faultless. I have to say that the full English breakfast was the very best I have ever had in any hotel or café. Piping hot and good portions and for £15 was excellent value. I had an issue with the plumbing in the room but the problem was resolved promptly and in a highly professional manner. Special praise must be given to Chris (Reception Manager) who was not only highly professional but extremely courteous in sorting out the issue to my satisfaction. In my view, it is how hotel staff react to any issue and I was extremely pleased with how the staff at this hotel think of the customer first and react to sort out any issue immediately. Based on my experience, I will certainly return and I will look to stay at MacDonald Hotels in the future. Highly recommended. Collapse

Went for a family meal in the restaurant. The service was very slow we had to ask for a bottle of water twice eventually after half an hour the water arrived. Two of us had the beef which was tough & very chewy we couldn't eat it. When we were asked how our meals were we said that we were very disappointed with the slow cooked beef. There was no apologie the waiter said I will let the chef know. So two of us paid £25 each for veg & potatoes. Very disappointed. Collapse
