We stayed for three nights and only paid around £25 per person per night! Nicely situated for the beach and the old town. It's not the plushest hotel but perfectly acceptable for the price. We had a balcony with a sea view over figueretas bay and had a great view of the sunset every evening. Everything in the room worked, including the air conditioning. If you're looking for a good base to explore Ibiza town and you're not worried about having a plush room then I would recommend the hotel. Collapse

Well I am amazed! I booked this hotel very last minute as a spontaneous trip to Ibiza beckoned, and for the price and the star rating, I wasn't expecting much. Not to sound like a snob, but I usually stay in 4/5* hotels, so I was a little apprehensive, but this hotel definitely exceeded my expectations! First off, the location is unbeatable whether you want to experience the more cultural and historic side to Ibiza, or you've come purely for the 'party island.' The hotel sits a 20 minute walk from Ibiza Town and of course the star of the show: The Dalt Vila! If its the nightlife you have come for, then you have Playa den Boss just next door on the other side, with the likes of Hard Rock and Ushuia. Figueretas is a lovely area in itself, you have the promenade at hand, just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The atmosphere on the promenade is amazing from sunrise to sunset; so relaxed, full of families and dog walkers, with a number of quirky bars and restaurants to chose from. Now on to the hotel! I honestly cannot believe it is only a 2 star!!! I was given a studio room, which was clean and large. It had beautiful views across the pool and the sea, which I didn't even pay any extra for! My balcony was huge and contained a table and two chairs. The beds were wonderfully comfortable - I had the best nights sleep ever! The staff at this hotel are just EXCEPTIONAL. They are ever so friendly, and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They take their time to get to know your first name and always greet you with a genuine smile and a cheery 'Hola!' The reception staff are so helpful and efficient and couldn't do enough for you. The wifi is also brilliant - I was able to access it from my room at all times,without it cutting out at all. It can also be used at the pool and at the restaurant. I opted for the breakfast as well, which was again definitely way above and beyond what I expected! It had everything one could possibly ask for: cereals, fruits, meats, cheeses, hot cooked things such as eggs and tomatoes, and a vast array of little cakes, cookies and pastries! I honestly can't wait for my next visit - what a superb little gem of a hotel! So glad I discovered it, and for such a great price, considering the high level of service and comfort I received! We were here for a few days, and on the whole the trip was fine. We had breakfast included and what was on offer was good. Hot food and standard continental food. On the whole the staff were helpful, however did experience one who seemed not to care. There are 3 hotels on site so be aware you may not be in the hotel you chose if you book outside of the hotel chain. We booked directly through PlayaSol Hotel Group. The walk to Ibiza Town is around 15 mins (depending what route you take) and its not far from the actual resort beach. There are ample restaurants in the town. Be aware that the hotel lies in the flight path of incoming planes to Ibiza so best to take some ear plugs. There seemed to be decent air con in the lounge area but in the bedroom there was not so if you are going to have the balcony door open be prepared for the planes. Personally I think this hotel is ok for a few days and would consider other hotels in the chain if the trip was longer than a wk. Collapse

Our 5th holiday in Ibiza the previous 4 occasions on an All inclusive basis.We were somewhat nervous and open to a B and B hotel. We could not have been more pleased after 2 weeks at the Lux Mar. Breakfast superb and welcomed each day by a very pleasant Lady Roxander I think her name was.sorry! After entering our room which has a spectacular sea view ( not all do ). we found a problem with the electric cooker.Within 5 mins of phoning reception the maintenance guy had been and gone problem solved. Now thats a record.Air con superb and needed as it was 38oc for 4 days.Room adequate no issues sheets clean and towels. Turn right out of Hotel for nearby Spar shops and foody places but if your on a budget carry on for ten mins then turn left at a cafe called Harnus (its got all white chairs and tables) walk for 4 mins to the end of road and the Lidl Sign is right in front of you.We frequented the 2 pools at the Lux Mar one quiet good for chilling and reading and the bigger one for a change ( bar and music ) The beaches are turn right out of hotel ( everything is right theres nothing left except a car park) two minute walk turn left down steps or steep brew theres a small quiet beach or carry walking for 5 mins to Figuretes beach.Busy but good.Loads of bars and foody places here. Visit the Island Formentera by ferry boat 19 euros return each from Figuretes beach we went to the Isletes beach (theres a few) gotta be one of the nicest beaches Ive ever been on.Hire a cycle or get bus or taxi its an hour stroll.We strolled and as one walks through a nature reserve to get there wow,What a walk.Its to the left as you get off the ferry follow the palm trees or the red cycle path. Enjoy were going back to the Lux Mar next year. Well done staff. Collapse

When you look at the photographs for the property you get some indication of the level of comfort you can expect - or not. These apartments are rather dated and pretty expensive for what they appear to be. Firstly you have to check-in at the reception for the other apartment block on the site, the Tropical Gardens. Then you have to walk back over to your block, through their very nicely decorated and modern reception which is unmanned. Then you have to take a very small lift with very creaky concertina doors which just about has room for two people and their luggage. The lift does not inspire confidence, with the buttons for the floor flashing when you arrive rather than the floor counter above which resolutely remains at zero which ever floor you are on. Once you get out of the lift you then have to find your way through a rabbit warren of quite narrow and in some cases badly lit corridors to find your room. The door to the room opens inwards and you just have enough room to wheel in your cases as the door opens onto the door to the bathroom on one side and the kitchenette is on the right hand side. Three steps in and you are into the lounge with the bedroom off to the left. We had asked for and paid for a room with a sea view .... there was an accessible but narrow balcony leading off from the bedroom which gave a partial sea view, the rest was overlooking other apartments and the smaller of the two pools below. The main balcony off the living room was a much better size with perhaps 45 degrees of sea view, the rest overlooked the apartments and pool and gave an excellent view of the solar panels on the building opposite. What we could see of the sea was pleasant and the breeze coming off the sea was very nice in the evenings. Next to practicalities ...... there was no kettle, no toaster, no microwave. There was a very old two solid ring electric stove with an incredibly noisy extractor fan. The indicator lights on the front of the stove to show if a hotplate was on or off were also missing. Needless to say we did not use the cooker. There was some very basic crockery and cutlery in the cupboard and I think their might have been some pans on top of it. The fridge leaked water .....which was not noticed until I slipped up on it . No means of wiping it up either. We sacrificed one of their towels for the duration of our stay to save any more accidents. There are no electrical sockets in the lounge. There are on either side of the bed and another on the wall in the bedroom and one on the kitchen wall. The third bed in the lounge was reasonably comfortable, the two singles in the bedroom were soft and baggy. The air conditioning worked. There was a strange ticking noise behind the beds in the bedroom , which reception arranged to be sorted very quickly. It was the room next doors air conditioning. We were offered the room opposite, but unfortunately I think the problem with their fridge was far worse than ours and we were greeted with an unbearable smell as we entered. Needless to say we declined to change rooms. The engineer fixed the ticking problem, by turning off the air con in the empty room next door. The bathroom was clean and modern .... but had a major design flaw .... the toilet was one end of the bath and the toilet roll holder was at the other end of the bath on the opposite wall. There was no anti-slip may or surface in bath/shower. There were no instructions as to what to do in case of a fire. There were no instructions on how to use the phone, or which number to use to reach reception. There were no instructions on how to use the free wi-fi which also required our passports/ID to obtain, as well as a visit back down through the corridors and over to reception in the other building to sort out. The pool at Lux Mar suited me fine , simple rectangular pool suitable for swimming in as opposed to playing. There was an issue with the step though, the bottom step was missing and one side was not fixed to the wall of the pool properly. A very kind gentleman who had had the same issue earlier very kindly showed me several ways to get out , one of which worked ! Another trip to reception and next day the pool had its missing step replaced, but it was still not fixed to the wall. I cannot fault the staff who were energetic,helpful and always happy to help. I think they are working in very difficult conditions with a building in dire need of upgrading. A little more thought in providing information to customers on arrival or in the rooms would save them a lot of time and their clients a lot of hassle. Collapse
