Vacationing in Rome is complete when staying here. For hotel concierges, Alberto, Max and Marco are a trio of excellence; consummate professionals. They were responsive to needs, accommodating to every member of the family. They are the true charm of this hotel. Rooms are stylish, new and clean; breakfast filling and with variety. Halls and entrance clean and tastefully finished. Showers and baths new. Easy access to metro, cabs, supermarket. Wonderful area to walk through at night. Safe. 10 minute walks to Medici Palace and Spanish Steps. To Alberto, thank you for providing fantastic options to eat. Your recommendations were priceless. Collapse

While traveling around Europe the Ludovisi Place was supposed to be the "treat" hotel as it was the most expensive and highly rated. Before our stay they took a payment of €170. When I noticed this was out of my account I emailed to ask why. They informed me they were 'authorising my card' and 'it was not a real charge'. After 3 days the 'fake' charge was still out of my account. I emailed again and asked why this was if they've seen the card works. Their response? 'They were "authorising my card and it was not a real charge". After 5 days I called my bank, they confirmed €170 had been taken from my account. However, it had not been processed. I was told this meant unless they call their bank to realise they payment I had to wait until 8 days had passed to have it automatically refunded. I'm still baffled as to why the hotel couldn't explain this to me. I sent them on this information and asked if it was a possibility for them to call their bank and they ignored me. I emailed again and told them the only reason I hadn't cancelled yet was because I was booking it for my boyfriend as he had stayed many years ago and wanted to go back. But if they couldn't resolve the issue I'd have no choice but to stay elsewhere. I had to wait the 8 days to get the payment back but their response to my last email reassured me that if we stayed with them it would be worth it. (It wasn't.) I understand that hotels need to preauthorise cards. The hotel we stayed in, in Amsterdam did this by charging me €1. This hotels policy was also to take full payment upon check in, as to check out you just drop off your keys in a box. As that was our first stop and I am working to a budget. (Knowing I will be paid Friday the 18th - the day we were checking out of the Ludovisi Palace) I email them to ask their payment policy and they said this: "You can pay the bill directly at the check out as you like, with cash or credit card." Note they said "check out"!! Happy days I can pay in full that morning upon check out. However, upon arrival they had sheets of what appeared to my emails. They asked for my card and said they needed to take the full payment now. I questioned him and told him I had emailed a few days ago to check their policy, and told him what I was told. His response was, 'for us to check in we must pay the full €340 now'. I then explained I could do that but I would need to access the WIFI to transfer from my savings account. To this he said, "I'm sure you could but someone needs to pay in full now". At this point my boyfriend said for him to take the payment off his card. There was no "thank you" after he paid, and no apology or explanation to why their policy was suddenly different. He was rude, unwelcoming and condescending. We then got to our room it was a standard size but dirty. Bad black markings on the walls and the phone in the bathroom was coming away from the wall. There was no water offered in the room (though standard in anywhere else we stayed even less rated hotels, it was also 35 degrees out) and the minibar was obviously overpriced. For a newly refurbished hotel it's interiors were underwhelming. When checking out, we needed to pay the city tax, half was through dealing with me, guests walk to the elevator and he calls them over to organise their new room they've previously asked for. Again this was just rude. He had been taking to me and had my credit card already in his hand. I am in my 20's, a MA student who also works full time. This means I had a budget and had I been told I needed to pay upon check in I would have organised to do so. Had I been given 5 minutes to sit and sort it out, I would have. I worked extremely hard to afford this trip away. Rome was our last stop and I wanted to leave before I'd even seen the city because of how severely I was talked down to and how unwelcome I felt. Not only did they spoil my first of our two nights in Rome. They tarnished any good memories my boyfriend has of their hotel. If you want to be close to the Spanish Steps, go for it. If you want a hotel with clear policies and a welcoming staff who are happy to answer your questions look somewhere else. Overall: overpriced & unwelcoming would not recommend to a friend. Collapse

Visited for one night in July. My single room was small with no room to store my suitcase other then on the floor near the door. The open closet is quite small. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the room and the bathroom are furnished in a sleek ,modern way. The staff was less then friendly, somewhat curt when asked for help. No smiles. Breakfast was nice. The location of great. Within 10 minutes of the top of the Spanish Steps, and two blocks from the exclusive via Venito Collapse

Ludovisi Palace is a wonderful hotel. We stayed here in 2016 and were lucky enough to be back in 2017, to find the renovations had been done to make this hotel even more wonderful. The rooms are a good size, the bed is very comfy and the bathroom is modern and practical. However, it is the friendliness and delightful manner of the staff that make this place so magical. They are all very helpful and make you feel very welcomed throughout your stay. We love the location and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Rome. Poor Wifi connection was the only disappointment during our stay. Collapse

We have stayed there for 4 nights. The room was very clean and big enough for 3 persons (me, my wife and my 10y old kid). The bathroom was so big that had 2 sinks. The staff was very polite and always willing to help. The breakfast was good like a standard breakfast. The location of the hotel is really good, very close to Spanish steps and all well known places of the city. I would suggest the place for someone who want a nice, clean hotel with polite staff in a good location. Collapse
