The hotel is not actually situated in Galway, like I thought, which is really my own mistake I guess, but it is also Hotels.com fault as it advertised it in Galway, anyway, it's about 1hr from Galway with bus, and kind of in the middle of nowhere, but the hotel itself is very nice. just don't expect to be going out of it - there's nothing in the small town. The room was lovely, 418 on 4th floor. huge bed, bath, everything lovely. althought it did say lake view when booking but I struggled to find the lake??? I did not see any lake, not even day time, maybe the tide was low? :D so don't expect a great view because it is overlooking the car park. The spa was great, but the experience shower didn't work which was a little disappointing but still not faulting it, it is 15 euro per person for the thermal suite etc. Not bad. I included breakfast in the room which was 10euro per person and to be honest for a 4 star hotel the breakfast was very low quality, it was simple cheap food which you would find in a 3 star hotel, definitely not 4. I can tell you straight away they order from Pallas Foods which is a cheap catering company. This would be all fine, I just expected a little bit more cause it was 4 star hotel. That was really the only thing that I didn't like much. Other than that I loved the hotel. Collapse

I came here with my sister as i surprised her with an afternoon tea for her 30th birthday. I was not too happy about the service. I had booked this over the phone a few days before whereby i booked it with 2 glasses of prosecco. We never got them. 2 other ladies were having afternoon tea and looked very surprised when the waiter dropped down 2 glasses of prosecco to them. He obviously gave them the prosecco instead of us. A bit careless to be honest. Also when i had told the lady on the phone it was for my sisters 30th birthday, she offered to decorate a plate with happy birthday on it to which we never recieved either. I also had told them that i do not eat butter to which the sandwichs were dosed in butter and that me and my sister could not eat fish/shellfish which they still gave us prawn cocktail. Not very happy about this as we were really looking forward to it. Looks like a lovely hotel but communication obviously needs to be improved about bookings. Collapse

i don't think i can find a hotal in ireland that can have every requirement checked up, although this was supposed to be a 4 stars place. The view is really not that nice, the lake is further away behind a parking lot so it's not really a pretty location, it's just off the motorway so i guess it's convenient for travelers. Spa was excellent, lots of rooms and activities to choose from, everything was clean, smelled nice, jets were strong, showers fresh after sauna, and treatments last very long for a very good price. Loved the robes too. it's worth to go there even only for an afternoon with tea package i guess. The restaurant however better forget about it, staff doesn't even sit you even if 4 people pass you by empty ended, and then there is no food alternative option (for people with allergies), everything is overcooked probably sitting there in a bain marie for hours, my salmon only took 5 minutes to arrive which i guess meant pre-cooked and i could taste that... Vegetables were awful and old, same : cooked since 9 am probably. I think it's important to remember a 4 stars hotel also needs to satisfy their customers with high quality food, they're very lucky there is literally no other option around and i guess that's why they don't improve their cooking methods. If a person can afford a Spa stay there, means they're here for a relaxing time, thus they can indulge in waiting 15 minutes for their meal to be fresh and ready, precooking is for fast food stores.
