The Los Pueblos Apartment complex is located in the beautiful "old town" area of Puerto del Carmen on the island of Lanzarote. The old town is home to one of the island’s oldest harbours and is also a thriving fishing port that retains its traditional charm. There are many colourful bars and restaurants and enough interesting shops to suit everyone.

Just got back from a week at Los Pueblos apartments, we had a good time at these apartments, but they are so high up a hill, that you can walk down to town, but you are advised to get a taxi back up. also the rooms were in need of refurbishing, but the pool was great, never a problem getting a sun bed and parasol, and the pool bar was great but only open from 10.00 till 6.00, but the pool staff were great, the best thing about this hotel was the view from the balcony out to sea, would not go back to the Los Pueblos apartment just because of the position so high up the hill. Upon booking we requested a high floor with pool view, which is exactly what we got - room 502, on the top floor, overlooking the pool and old town. Parking was no problem, with plenty of (free) spaces, many within a stone's throw of the rooms above reception. Good start, then...... Our room was very spacious throughout, with a functional kitchenette and a huge balcony. No air-con but, contrary to other reviews, leaving the balcony doors and bedroom windows open didn't seem at all risky, unless hotel robberies in this area are frequently committed by Spiderman! Beds aren't the comfiest, but typical of this standard. You'd do well to ignore the negative write-ups on here - this was my second stay at Los Pueblos and I struggled to find any of the serious dirt and grime mentioned in other reviews. Sure, like most apartments at this price point there's a little dust and paint-flake in places, but nothing that would put any person with reasonable expectations off. The swimming pool we found to be immaculately clean, as were the grounds in general. Maid service is most days, and fresh towels were left even if we made no indication that we required them. The only snag is that the rear entrance/exit to the complex looks permanently shut, so if you want to drop down to the Montana Tropical commercial centre (home to a Spar shop and some great bars and restaurants) or old town, you have to exit the front of the hotel and walk all the way round. It's a bit of a pain as it adds a good 5-10 minutes onto the walk, depending on how fast you stroll. Overall a very good experience. Is it perfect? No. Have I stayed in better accommodation in this class/at this price point? Definitely. But for what we paid, I am more than happy with what was on offer. The problem these days is that too many people want to pay peanuts and expect five-star luxury. Be realistic and you'll enjoy your stay here. Collapse

just got back from a weeks stay and it was FAB. Don't believe the hype and moaning minnies who want 5* accomm for 2* prices, as many people say you get what you pay for. yes it's a bit tired, but it's clean and the views are amazing. We had a spacious one bed apt with new fridge, kettle and toaster, a huge TV ( I don't even have a TV at home!). The kitchen was well equiped and we had everything we needed. The staff were brilliant and so very helpful. We only went to the pool area to 'have a dunk' twice and so couldn't comment on the 'infamous rude bar man'. However I would like to point out that frequently the hotels 'contract' out that part of their business and the rude man that every one talks about, may well not be anything to do with the hotel, he may just be renting that part as a business and so it could be difficult for them to get rid of him, he and his rude behaviour should not be held against the hotel. The place was clean, new towels every other day and safe, We had all the windows open for a fab breeze all the time. Yes there are no fans or air con, but if the details about the hotel are read properly, the reader will find that they are not mentioned, so don't complain if you haven't read the spec properly. The walk up the hill from the beach is challenging for those less able, we loved it though and certainly got a lot fitter from it. It's a peaceful place and would def stay there again and recommend it. Two little supermarkets are less than 5 mins away for everything you could need for self catering. The Crafty Cow has a 'kicking' jazz event every Sunday, well worth it, even if you're not staying in the old harbour part of town, get there for their jazz event, you won't be disappointed. On a side note, my tendonitis flared up quite badly and I had a massage from the advert in the reception, the staff called on my behalf to book the appointment. OMG, what a fab experience, he was so professional and worth every penny and sorted me out. So, to summarise, go with realistic expectations and you won't be disappointed, we certainly weren't, and would stay there again if we ever go back to Lanzarote. Collapse
