I had read previous postings and was a bit concerned but there was absolutely no need. Hotel is as it describes itself; it is not grand or flash but small, clean , efficient and friendly. The bed was comfy although the shower cubicle was a tad on the small side. Our plane was late in arriving in Naples so we arrived well past midnight to find a helpful night porter who greeted us and took our luggage to our room. It was a bit late for a drink or expresso so went to bed. One of ur pre booked excursions, not through the hotel, arrived at 8am the following morning not midday as per the schedule so we missed it, still being in bed. The hotel re-arranged the trip and all was well, no extra charge. St. Angello seemed an up market suburb of Sorrento and there some grand hotels and villas in the neighbouring streets. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and a train station about 10 minutes walk away which takes you as far as Napoli via Pompeii and Herculaneum so that was convenient. The local bus will take you to Sorrento, about 1.6 kilometres distance or 20 minutes walking for me and my wife. Pavements are a bit narrow and there is a small section where the pavement is non existent. Breakfast is buffet style and typically continental. The pool area catches the afternoon sun and it was nice to collapse there after an outing to catch the last rays while having a beer or coffee. We often had a nightcap in the bar before bed chatting and comparing notes with other residents. The hotel is ideally situated, close to the sea, pick up points for excursions to Capri and the Amalfi coast and the pre mentioned railway station. Trains run every 20 minutes or so and it costs about 2.70 euros to get to Herculaneum, about 22 stops. I can recommend this hotel and the staff and would be happy to stay here again. My wife says it was a bit old fashioned but adequate for her purposes with nice people which is all important Finding English speaking guides is easy but if the group is less than 10 they will take that into account and up the charge. I don't have a problem with that. Collapse

Facts. €733/pps by top flight, small room no balcony, room with balcony extra, big room with balcony extra, air con €7/day extra fridge €4/day extra wifi €1/day extra safe €15/week extra no safe in room? no tea coffee facilities in rooms pay extra at bar, have to ask for hair dryer, did not pay extra, on BB was not offered 1 x Complimentary Dinner? Hotel is located by the side of the main Bus route into sorrento, noisy at times, Taxi to main square in sorrento €15 each way, breakfast basic continental, Clean, tidy, small pool, some local cafe/restaurants good. would recommend you pay ? more and go for 4 star in the heart of Sorrento. compare this info with top flight descriptions, PS: no extra plugs in rooms for anything use bed side lamp plug. We recently spent a week here - thought our first room was a bit near the main road so the receptionist quickly found us an alternative on the quieter side. It was a large room, well furnished, comfortable bed. The bathroom was tiny......just a narrow shower cubicle with fixed head so no room to stand back out of the water jet. I don't like my hair getting soaked with each shower! Continental buffet breakfast was absolutely fine, and all the staff in the hotel were pleasant. Main criticism - the cleaning staff moved our clothes around inside the wardrobe repeatedly to push the unwanted spare blankets back inside it. We kept placing them on the top of the wardrobe but each day they were back inside with our clothes moved. No-one should go inside the wardrobes except the room occupants. Collapse

Iv'e read all the previous reviews on this Hotel and whilst its fair to say its not the best in the world its budget accommodation and if people read up on the place and did their research they would know if its for them or not. I stayed for 2 weeks with my lady and we loved it, I had an issue with being given 2 single beds pushed together to make a double, I went down to the reception and let them know i wanted a double and wasn't happy and it was sorted in two hours with a double bed. OK the shower is tiny but the room was spotless clean and cleaned every day by the cleaning ladies who were really really nice . In fact the whole staff were super super friendly and maybe if people weren't as rude to them as some were when we were there they would have got a better response. Cant say enough about the staff especially Mario, sound guy he was always with a smile on his face as were the others. The hotel owner even gave me a big bag of oranges on the morning we we leaving. We loved it, great location, Yes the roads into Sorrento are a bit iffy, but there is a back lane that takes you all the way into Sorrento, Just turn left and go by the college when you come out of the hotel. Central to get around everywhere From going up to the train and bus station. The pool and the facilities whilst limited were of a very good standard. We got 2 weeks B and B all transfers to and from airport with Topflight for 2 grand for 2 people.. Fantastic holiday.. PS Make sure you pop into the Florida next door, they are the same, Fantastic people especially Alfonso,, Tell him Paul and Jeannie said Bonjourno :-) Loved the Londra, We are going back for sure Collapse

On arrival at hotel we were met by a surly looking gentleman who showed us to our room. Small room with balcony, dated looking furniture with the old style portable tv on a wall mounted bracket. Took a while getting to sleep when we did go to bed, due to constant traffic noise, which the hotel obviously cannot control. Pillows were rather hard so uncomfortable at times. Bathroom was clean but shower small, be careful as it fluctuates from very hot to ice cold. Pool area was very clean and tidy. Bar is small and average prices for the area can be found. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, something which we found to be very basic. Cereals, toast, bacon, eggs, rolls, cooked meats, cheese, croissants and cake. In my opinion they could do so much more with this space but the breakfast sufficed for the start of the day. Hotel Londra is situated in Sant A'gnello which is about a 25 minute walk to the main area of Sorrento, beware of taking a taxi as they are very expensive. According to hotel info sheet it is 1.5km to town at a cost of €17 in a taxi. In my opinion the hotel is a little on the expensive side for what you get, don't expect all mod cons, but you will find some very friendly members of staff. One thing that I found to be annoying was the fact they charge €7 a day for air conditioning, something that really should be included in the price. Would we return to this hotel? At a push maybe, but the distance from town would put me off. Collapse
