We stayed at the Park Lane for 5 nights and although it was not perfect, the people and the experience make this of the finer hotels that I will most likely ever have the occasion to stay at. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. The Park Lane is directly at Marble Arch -- a crowded and loud transportation and shopping hub in London. But the entrance to the hotel is a block away from the square and the tranquil atmosphere of the hotel gives you the convenience with none of the hubbub. Every single employee was nothing short of welcoming and pleasant. Every door person expressed a sincere greeting on the in and out. We did not meet a single employee of the hotel who did not mean us well. The pictures show a spacious white marble lobby that is fresh and soothing. The reality is that the lobby is no more than a broad aisle with some seating and stacked luggage. Check-in, restaurant, exec club and elevators are several steps up. Not The rooms are very large by big city European standards. Our king sized bed shared the room with a suite of furniture without it ever feeling crowded. The marble bathroom was smart and comfortable. Linens/towels are top notch. Not a single thing looked aged or tattered. Even the hallways oozed neat, fine, understated comfort. If there are issues with the Park Lane they center around housekeeping and food service. Housekeeping was spotty. The room was always clean (unfortunately sometimes in the evening after we returned and requested it to be made up) but we spent most of the time without hand towels and a full compliment of products. The food service in the Executive Club was tiresome at best. Breakfast was identical each day and not very interesting. Afternoon tea was a timing issue -- when they brought out those 4 scones that ½ hour you needed to be fast to get one. The fridge with the water was locked promptly around 11pm. If there was not a specific promised service there was absolutely nothing out. A special thank you goes to the night manager Yuban (sorry about the spelling). We got in late one evening -- my husband’s 60th birthday -- to find that our room was filled with cigarette smoke and called the front desk to complain after running the fan for a while. What can you do, really? It's almost midnight in a completely non-smoking hotel and clearly someone next door to us was violating the rules. But it was very late and he could not knock on doors. He had our window/door unlocked so we could clear our room and sent up a bottle of prosecco with a nice selection of chocolates. The room was fastidiously cleaned the next day and the problem did not recur. A bottle of bubbly and a nice breeze was a good solution. Thank you! Collapse

Off on a ride road that parallels Oxford street is the London Marriott Park Lane. Upon arrival, the concierge team took charge of our bags and assisted in bringing them in. Check in was relatively quick and painless. I had checked in by Marriott's mobile app but my room was not ready. As check-in is after 3pm and it being a full house, we were provided with access cards to use the gym/spa bathroom to freshen up. After lunch, my room was ready but my parents only got their room around 4pm. My room had a King-sized bed that was soft and a little bouncy. The sheets were crisp and had a good thread count. Side tables with lamps and wall sockets to charge the phone and other electronic gadgets were within easy reach. An alarm clock sat on the other side table. A study table and chair complete with lamp sat by the window. Wall mounted flat screen TV with a whole lot local TV stations and international news stations can be enjoyed. Below the TV was the bar fridge, cups, glasses and other implements to make yourself a tasty beverage. The closets by the door housed fluffy bath robes and slippers, hair dryer, safe, umbrella, and tea kettle and Nespresso machine. The room is carpeted around the bed area and wooden floor near the door. Entry is by way of key card flashed over the reader. The bathroom has marble flooring and generous number of bath mats to stop your feet from being too cold. A single sink sat on a purpose-built table. Amenities like face towels, cotton buds, shower cap, glassware are placed around the sink. There's more than enough acreage for a couple's bath room bottles and knick-nacks. I know my wife would have appreciated the toilet, which pioneered by the Japanese, has seat warmer and bidet functions are built in to a control panel at the side of the seat; A welcome addition to take you through the cold winters. The shower is a step up behind glass panels. The shower head is wide and generous. But there is no rain shower. Funnily enough, the spa showers had rain showers, so I was expecting them in the room too. Small bottles of Bath products are helpfully placed here for your convenience. Wifi can be received in the room. The hotel is very close to Oxford Street shopping and Hyde Park. If you fancy a run, Hyde Park is a great place to stretch your legs after a long flight. The hotel has a gym as well, and it's well stocked with weight machines, free weights and the usual machines to break a sweat. The executive lounge is on the small side, but has more than enough variety at breakfast and evening cocktails to satisfy your hunger pangs. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Sleep was restful and the service was good; except for the late room check in for my parents. Will stay here again if we want to be close to Hyde park and Oxford st. Collapse

Quick disclosure: we did get a free upgrade to a premier suite which was absolutely stunning but even if that hadn't have happened... This is probably the best hotel I have stayed in and will definitely be returning next time we're in London. The hotel really does look like the management photos and was spotless throughout. The location was perfect, overlooking Hyde Park and right next to and entrance to Marble Arch tube station. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff, every single member of staff where incredibly friendly and helpful, even people who were just passing you in the corridor. Everyone made you feel like you were the most important guest in the hotel, especially Daniel G. on the front desk, can't thank you enough! Me and my wife will definitely be staying here again Collapse

This hotel has been beautifully updated, is in a great location with the Underground right at the corner, and a very helpful staff. Our room was large and comfortable. The Elite Lounge served both breakfast and dinner. The concierge staff was very helpful in answering all our questions and Joao, in particular, really went out of his way to help me with a problem charging my battery backup. Collapse
