This is the most horrible experience I have had staying at any premium hotel... then again perhaps Marriott Maida Vale is a shadow of its past glory. So I had a reservation made by my cousin... upon getting to the hotel I was told I need the physical card to swipe and my cuz hadn't gotten to the spot yet. I offered to make a cash deposit and they accepted. I was provisionally given one room from a suite of three to relax while the cleaners tidied up the other two rooms. Five hours later the other two rooms are still not ready. Upon asking the hotel reception they informed me that it isn't that the cleaners haven't finished cleaning but they will not give access until they view the credit card. So I'm like there's a blizzard in London, I've paid cash, my cousin has a job... he is not even supposed to pay for the rest of my stay... he just used his card to reserve the room. The receptionist is now like until they take payment for the rest of my stay they cannot give me access to the room. How silly is this? If I call my cousin up and ask him to cancel the reservation they will charge him for one night... or in the absence of his card, they will deduct charges for one night from the deposit I have paid... will they still refuse to give me access to the other two rooms they have charged me for already? After clients fly for 30+ hours you will expect that hotel staff have some level of empathy, common sense and training to deal with situations like this. I guess Marriott Maida Vale doesn't care and their staff's matter of fact attitude the situation definitely left a very sour taste given that this is a hotel that my family has patronised for over 20+ years. Big shame! I will never return here. And I am certainly cancelling the rest of my reservation!!! Collapse

I arrived shortly after 10.30pm last night and can honestly say it was the most unfriendly welcome I have ever received from a Marriott Hotel. The gentleman was nothing short of morose. At no time did I receive a “welcome back” and there was absolutely NO sign of my Gold Status being recognised. I was hoping to pay cash for some refreshments but he insisted on taking a print of my credit card - “company policy”. Well this was most certainly not the case on my last visit (I expect my records can be checked) but it was late at night so I gave in. I feel wary of mentioning this but his colleagues should also have told him to chew on a few mints - it was not a pleasant experience. Please read all my other reviews - have never felt compelled to make such a personal remark but this man is the first impression a customer gets. Straight to the bar as I was hungry. The young man serving informed me “no food”. I spoke to a concierge in the foyer who had slight difficulty understanding me but he caught hold of Ricky who was aghast at the info I had been given. He took me and sat me down and looked after my needs. That said, the bar had no draught lager and the sandwich I ordered was not a bloomer but ordinary sliced bread with virtually no mayonnaise at all. Very very disappointing. I should add that as I was sitting there a scruffily dressed member of staff walked through the bar area, preparing his rolled cigarette as he left. Surely there is a staff entrance? I had a good 5 hours sleep (usual high standard of housekeeping) and when asking for my bill was not asked if I had enjoyed my stay or if I slept well! Having just had the most wonderful weekend at Canary Wharf and stayed here before on many occasions this episode was extremely disappointing and £172 for 8 hours was rather a waste of money. I really will think twice before booking again. Collapse

The hotel is a good choice for reasonably priced accommodation in an expensive city. I prefer not to stay in the centre of London, and this hotel is located in an upscale residential neighbourhood that is very accessible to the sights of central London. There are frequent buses on Edgeware Road into the city centre. The rooms are clean and efficiently laid out for their small size. The breakfast is expansive, and the service at breakfast is reliable and quick. We visited the hotel on our honeymoon, and the hotel provided a special welcome gift for us. Collapse

I stayed here last year during a stressful time of lost documents and the staff was great making us feel at home until it was sorted out. Good food options during the day at the concierge lounge and great value for London. It’s a little off the beaten path but very convinent to paddington station and the heathrow Express. About 3 blocks from closest tube station and easy to get to central London. Updated rooms with Apple TV support. Collapse
