As a Platinum Marriott Rewards member, I am quite loyal to Marriott properties. Unfortunately, Marriott Maida Vale will never again get my business. Pros: - Near Kilburn tube station - You can use/earn Marriott Rewards - Exec lounge breakfast is nice (but only if you're not vegetarian/vegan/gluten free) - Concierge staff is fantastic (especially Abdul!) Cons: - Not a good room if you're traveling on business; no desk. - Details are below but the staff at the front desk seems like a bunch of 20-somethings in their first job, with no sense of how to handle customers or provide hospitality - Location is near tube, but not safe at night. I ended up always taking a taxi back because of the random men loitering on the streets. I lived in London for 4 years, so I know the city quite well, and I did not feel safe. There have also been a rash of reported mobile phone thefts - so don't pull out your phone unless you're wanting someone to try to steal it - Fitness center is not in hotel (see below). I checked in on Friday afternoon after using the online check-in tool. Angelo, the front desk attendant, was very helpful and things seemed to be off to a good start. My room was upgraded and I was granted access to the Executive Lounge. I got to my room, only to find that the bathroom lights did not work. I called down, and explained that yes, I had the keycard in the slot, and all the other lights worked, but that my lights did not - and that I had to leave immediately, but could someone fix while I was away. I was greeted with silence and then - in a heavily accented voice - "Is your key in the slot, madam? You have to have key in slot." I took a deep breath and explained - AGAIN - that this was not my first time in a hotel in Europe and that I had the key in the slot and every other light in the room was working just fine. Silence again. "You don't have key in slot? I send someone now to show you." It pretty much went downhill from there... ending with me going down to the front desk, demanding someone who could speak English, and insisting that my room be checked and fixed while I was at dinner. It took me two tries, as the first woman I spoke to told me that I clearly must not have tried using the light switch or key card holder. I assured her that I had, and that I was not stupid enough to not try the light switch. She argued back that I had not. Things escalated until I demanded a new person to speak with. I had been in the hotel for about 30 minutes at this point, and was thoroughly annoyed. Additionally, there was a nice note in my room that had my gender wrong, despite me begin clearly female. I returned to find my lights fixed and I thought all was well. That is, until I decided to go to the fitness center. I will admit, I don't read the entire website of every hotel I visit, as I travel nearly every week. However, I did recall seeing a tab that said "Fitness" on the homepage for this hotel, and reading that it was an offered amenity. Well, it is... but it's a 5 min walk around the corner to a local sports club. The sports club is nice, but not when you're in fitness clothes and it's cold outside, meaning the hotel expects guests to bring a coat/umbrella, etc and trek down the block just to work out. I maintained there HAD to be a way to get to the fitness center without being out in the pouring rain, and Abdul the concierge was nice enough to escort me through the underground parking garage. Was this hotel horrible? No. The room was decent, though did not have a desk, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms were clean and housekeeping seemed to be spot on. However, to me, much of my experience in hotels is around the staff. I don't expect stays to be incident-free, but I do expect issues to be handled with respect to the customer. I have a choice in where I stay in London, and so I will be exercising that and choosing another Marriott property when I return. Collapse

Had the pleasure of staying here with some friends as we were attending an event at Lords Cricket Ground. The hotel is in an excellent location not just for the cricket ground but also as a base for exploring central London. The underground station on the Bakerloo line is a 5 minute walk. The surrounding area has lots of facilities The staff from reception, concierge and the restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. The room was excellent and the Marriott beds are the comfiest of beds. Will definitely be staying again. Collapse

traveled early morning to the hotel was surprised by 2 things the first was the rooms were ready well before checking in time and the other that although we had prepaid we were informed that we would have to supply debit/credit card for the stay we were told If a credit card there would be no money taken if debit card money was taken as we had booked 2 rooms this amounted to £300, not a small amount this would be debited back if when we checked out all was paid and all was okay (will let you know how long it actually takes to be put back in ) think this should be made quite clear on their booking site. We were on the 6th-floor rooms were large with a lovely king size bed tea and coffee making facilities and a safe and small fridge provided all exceptionally clean and worked well. there are tube overground train and regular bus services all quickly accessible from the hotel and the concierge and reception staff will book private taxi's if you prefer If arriving by train or coach number 16 bus straight from Victoria stand H will take you straight to within a few feet of hotel and of course all stops from hotel as well for those wanting access to marble arch(oxford street ) the 98 bus is also available . had a lovely breakfast with everything from full cooked to cereals, fruit and warmed Croissant all readily available. Want to thank the staff for their help in quickly changing the Feather bedding when I explained that I had an allergy most grateful . all in all a very pleasant stay away from the hustle and bustle of London but just a 15-minute ride to all that you may want to see had a lovely time and will definitely use again, Collapse

Hotel reception very good rooms clean and very quiet bar was nice and well kept with quick service. Distance into town is ok at a couple of miles so taxi costs are not cheap but ok. Would recommend a high floor as you are away from road noise.
