Just trying to make a reservation at this hotel has been a nightmare. We are platinum elite, need 2 large rooms to accommodate a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys, are willing to spend at over $1200 per night to accommodate this and can't even get anyone at the hotel to help make a reservation. You cannot do this online because the website does not allow you to book adjoining rooms. After several frustrating calls, I did finally find out that our family of four can only be accommodated by reserving an Executive Suite with a deluxe room attached. Don't most people have a family of four when traveling? Shouldn't this be a simple request? I keep calling back hoping to get a more helpful individual, and even demanding to talk to a manager, but it still has been the most frustrating experience I have ever encountered. No one at the hotel will help me and just tells me that I need to call the 1-800 reservation number. There is no email on their website, no concierge to contact to set up car service. The only reason we would even consider staying at this hotel is because of the location. For a category 9 hotel, this experience has been unacceptable. Stay at the London Edition! They are so friendly and helpful. It is a night and day difference. Collapse

From the time we walked into the hotel to the time we left the service at this hotel was well above what we have begun to experience at Marriott properties, As Marriott Platinum members we have seen a wide level of service from very poor to very good but the service at this hotel was positively outstanding. The management at this location certainly know how to hire and train their staff. The location of this hotel is terrific for sight seeing and walking to the sites (ie: Buckingham Palace, Churchill War Rooms, subway access etc). Our room overlooked Big Ben, Parliament and The London Eye was right outside our window. The Platinum Lounge is one of the best and even offers table service. Sonia & Danii were outstanding hostesses in the Lounge and really are an example of the professionalism of the staff. Anthony (the Bellman) was absolutely charming and another great example of the outstanding & friendly service. We would definitely return to this hotel. Collapse

The Gillray's Steakhouse & Bar is also a good place to get a drink with a good choice of cocktails. The food in the restaurant was exquisite and the staff very friendly and attentive. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Collapse

The Marriott County Hall may have the best location of any hotel in central London, at least if you're a tourist wanting to do the usual touristy things or if you're a business traveler doing business across the River Thames at Parliament and in government ministries. The building is like a palace. Plus, the recent renovation and new decor was done amazingly well. Services are above what you would find back home at the regular Marriott in the United States. Unfortunately, I found that the County Hall Marriott couldn't always execute on the 5-star services offered. Negatives: 1) Housekeeping is a disaster. When I complained the front desk clerk told me that housekeeping is handled by a third-party. In short, the housekeeping has been outsourced by management. Apparently, the quality of their job is a frequent complaint. Housekeeping was very inconsistent. Soap was never replaced. Evening turndown service was never provided, despite it supposedly being available. 2) Breakfast buffet in the restaurant is average but below what is offered at other hotels. There are no omelets. You have to ask for water or juice -- it isn't offered. The coffee is limited to industrial-tasting filter coffee or espresso from a self-serve Nespresso machine. There was no choice of smoked salmon, brie cheese, or even oatmeal. Also missing was any fresh berries. 3) There is also no grab and go option for business travelers wanting a quick breakfast before leaving for a day of work. 4) Newspapers were delivered, but my newspaper (Wall Street Journal) was a day old. 5) The executive lounge was closed because of mice. Apparently, the hotel has been invested with mice. This is a better than average Marriot, but lots of little things are off and not executed. There are much better hotels in London, especially with the rates the Marriott County Hall charges. It just isn't worth it. Collapse

I'm a tourist. And I love doin tourist things! yes this hotel is probably at the most touristy location but I really liked it. There's a red bus stop right in front. And it will take you to every notable spot your heart desires. The london eye is like a 4 minute walk and beyond that about 2 minutes are great places to eat. Whatever you could fancy... asian mexican traditional.. whatever. There's a underground station across the bridge near the tower. And there's like a food court at the base of the building. It's a great location. The staff was also very nice. The rooms were kind of small but that's a london thing. The concierge lounge was nice but the breakfast was crappy. We opted to eat at the food court during our stay. I had no complaints. Collapse
