My family and I really wanted to love Marriott County Hall but unfortunately just a few pieces were missing and I would be reticent to recommend it for the price we paid to stay there. I travel about 150 days a year on business and enjoy Marriott's highest status. Despite this, and Marriott folks calling ahead of my stay, I ended up with two rooms facing an alley full of construction debris. Were I traveling on business I would not have cared. But I was on vacation with my family and had sold them on the views of Big Ben and the London Eye from this hotel and was unable to deliver. First the good. The location is ideal (if a bit busy) to see most of London's main attractions and is within easy walking distance of many great areas. The rooms seem to have been recently updated and were definitely first class! It is a beautiful hotel all around. Now the not so good. Aside from my room location, it seemed that there were many service pieces missing. Upon check in I was asked which newpaper I preferred outside my door in the morning. I never saw one paper during the four day stay, nor did I see one at anyone elses door. We ate in the hotel restaurant once and only once after waiting nearly 20 mins for a lunch check after three separate staff confirmed the request. And don't even get me started on the Executive Lounge. It's possibly easier to access the MI5 building. The tone is set at check in when you are informed that only 2 guests are allowed to access the lounge (despite having 2 rooms) and it was suggested that I should bring the family to the restaurant for breakfast and enjoy the reduced cost for two meals rather than go to the Executive Lounge and pay something like 20 pounds per guest. This whole policy is insulting and I have seen other reviewers address it as well. While I am sure some guests might abuse the lounge, most of us don't! Bear in mind you are paying 300-750 pounds a night here. A simple trip to Pret a Manger (below hotel along Thames) each morning ensured the family was fed for nominal cost and we ended up avoiding the inquisition for lounge access.. I don't want to leave the wrong impression and I understand these complaints seem minor. This is a very nice hotel. I just think there are some short sighted policies and service issues that prevent it from being great. And for the price, it should be great. Collapse

I was put in Marriott County Hall after a huge problem with another hotel in the Marriott chain. I had booked another hotel six months prior and a few days before the trip, I was notified that they overbooked and my guaranteed room as a Marriott gold member was not available. Needless to say, I was very upset. We finally agreed that County Hall would be a similar experience. When we arrived, the staff was very nice and upgraded us to an executive suite. The room was very large and had beautiful views of Big Ben and parliament. Everything in the room was new and I appreciated the Nespresso machine. I visited the Executive Lounge (which also has an amazing view) and had a trio of appetizers which was served at my table. The staff there was extremely friendly and attentive. After getting back to the room, there was a knock at the door. The manager on duty had sent up gin and tonics with a note wishing us a nice stay. That was a nice touch. The hotel is in a great location. It is literally right next to the London Eye. There are places to pick up a quick meal and public transportation nearby. I had scheduled a private tour and the driver was able to pull right up front to pick us up. If you are looking for a beautiful hotel in a historic building that is close to many attractions, I would recommend Marriott County Hall. Collapse

This was my first visit to London and this hotel was in a great location right on the Thames River at the Westminster Bridge. The London Eye, Parliament, and Buckingham Palace were within walking distance. The Underground stop was across the river allowing easy movement around the city. The entire staff was friendly and polite, always asking if there there was anything they could do. The hotel had an elegant feel to it. All areas of the hotel were clean. The room was large and the bathroom was larger than my bathroom at home. I would stay here again. Collapse

Next was the decor the building and the rooms.... to a beautiful standard! The atmosphere and the staff was lovely. No question was left unanswered and nothing was too much trouble for them. I will be definitely going back again Collapse
