A group of 4 of us came to the library lounge for afternoon tea on a Monday afternoon. The service was really good from the beginning, and they accommodated for the fact that we were vegetarian. The sparkling wine was topped up every few minutes and we actually were seated for almost 3 hours despite it being a 1.5 hour slot which was nice of them. The food itself was on the whole tasty and the selection was good, the sandwich refills were also appreciated. My only small complaint was given that it was so pricey, I thought the sandwiches were a bit boring and something that could easily have been made at home. Nevertheless, it was a friend's birthday and the staff provided a little cake which was a nice gesture. The views outside from the window are really pretty and so all in all this was a really good afternoon tea. Collapse

I chose this hotel for its great location. It is right next to the London Eye and across the Thames from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. It has convenient access to public transport, with 2 stations in easy walking distance (Westminster & Waterloo stations). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were searching all luggage and personal bags; I assume because of the recent attacks. The searches were quick and painless. The only downside to the stay was the wifi. When you can connect, it is fast. I am a silver elite member, so I had the upgraded speed at no charge. The problem is, the wifi seems to only stay connected for a few minutes at best, then you lose it for a few minutes, rinse and repeat. All in all, I would stay here again. Collapse

Nice place for sure. No doubt. Service is okay. But here is the burn. After 41 nights in Marriott hotels so far this year, the internet coverage is very poor and slow. Phoned down to front desk and the lady tells me maybe its what I am doing. I said emails and actually trying to book some Marriott room in Chicago a few weeks from now. so after paying like an average of 300 pounds per night the lady says i can upgrade to their enhance service. So if my basic service sucks maybe I should offer a frequent guest free enhance service for their stay. So if you require to do any work in your room, would suggest another hotel. Collapse

Breakfast was included in our rate. A hot buffet of bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes etc was available as well as breads, pastries, fruits, cold meats, yoghurts and so many different types of jams and spreads. Coffee, tea and juices were brought to your table on request from the kind staff. We also made time to visit the swimming pool. This is on the top floor of the hotel. It's a little strange how you access the pool from the changing rooms. You have to go out of the changing rooms and into a corridor then find another door to access the pool. None of the doors are really labelled though so this can be a little confusing and embarrassing (being only in a robe and swimming costume). The pool is long and in two lanes. When we visited I could sense the leisure club members were a little frustrated at having to lane swim while having kids in the pool too... doing handstands and having fun! The pool was also cold! Once you were in and kept moving it was ok... but only ok! Finally the pool area was very old and dated. Not like the rest of this superb hotel at all. The fixtures and fittings seemed rusty and steps to leave to pool area dirty and just a bit yuk really. Having kids a pool is something they really look forward to in a hotel visit. This pool unfortunately wasn't great. However.... most people and families really don't get enough time to go for a swim when visiting all of the fab sights and sounds London has to offer. I wouldn't not stay here because of the pool. Overall I'd give this hotel a 9/10. It's location is first class. Next to the Thames overlooking Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and close to Waterloo station. The rooms are spacious and grand. The staff are brilliant, welcoming, friendly and professional. The food and drinks are quality, tasty and plentiful. If I'd have had more time I'd have loved to have sampled many of the gin's available! (Next time... maybe without kids!!) I'd like to thank all of the staff for such a combined effort. A wonderful stay. Especially Conor Bartley whom went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a good one. Collapse
