A really lovely hotel, I just feel they need to work on the little things in order for it to be a flagship 5 star hotel. The hotel upgraded us, which was lovely but I had specifically asked for a room with two double beds in it. I was with my best friend not a partner and because we were upgraded we had a king size bed and a lounge area with a sofa bed in. Not a big deal for many, but when you have paid just under £500 for the room, sleeping on a sofa bed isn't really what you want! Plus the lounge then turned into a bedroom and wasn't as enjoyable! We could have had another room but it wouldn't have the view we paid for. We were made to feel quite bad for not being happy with the upgrade!! We went out at 6:30 and asked for the sofa bed to be made up. At 10pm, we then had to call again for it to be done. Asked for a newspaper, it was never delivered. This may seem like a small thing, but my friend has children and never gets the chance to relax with a paper - I really wanted her to have this little treat! Room service table was still outside the door at 11am, even though we were told they would come back for it. TV kept freezing and going funny! This one night away was for my 40th Birthday and we paid an awful lot of money to do it. It's not often I stay 5 star, so when I do, I do expect it to be good. Especially as there are so many other hotels I could have chosen in London! Normally Marriott is lovely, but I felt really disappointed with the stay. The executive lounge food was lovely though and they did send a glass of champagne up and took the room service dinner off the bill. I just feel overall they need to work on the little things as to some people these do matter!! Collapse

Normally, when/if we stay at a hotel over a holiday as big as Easter, the staff are nice, but forcefully nice, and seem extremely busy and rushed. This was not the case here. From the moment we stepped foot in the hotel we received nothing but smiles and kind words. We truly felt as if they were happy to welcome us individually. The rooms were amazing, clean, the bathrooms large and you could have a bathtub upon request. (If you're traveling with small children, keep this in mind). No request was overlooked. On Good Friday they had hot cross buns out and milkshakes, they also had a small area with styrofoam eggs and markers with stickers for children away from home to construct baskets with eggs for the bunny. On Easter the staff approached my small children promptly off the elevator with small chocolate bunnies. At every turn there was somebody there to help with a smile. It is a very fancy hotel, but we never felt unwelcome or a burden with small children: in fact, they eat free at the restaurant! :) Finally, the location is paramount! It is RIGHT above the Shrek Adventure, London Dungeon, and Aquarium. There is a Mcdonalds near by in case your kid needs a quick meal, and the london eye and big ben are RIGHT there. Beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely view from our window of Big Ben, the London Eye and the River Thames. Without doubt one of the best views in the whole of the city. Stayed in late November and walked along the south bank embankment through the Christmas market stalls for some mulled wine and crepes. Booked with free reward points for two nights and had a very nice time. Collapse
