The T4 Hilton and T5 Sofitel offer a slight advantage in that they are directly in a terminal while this hotel requires a shuttle ride. I don't like the Hotel Hoppa (cost 5 quid) because it stops at so many hotels and when it came to pick me up in the morning it was already almost full and still had more stops to make. I had gotten a taxi to the hotel when I arrived the previous night and think that was a much better bet and much quicker (I did this in part because the shuttle stop at T3 is a long way around to the left of the terminal as you exit the door and confusing at night if you've never caught it here before). In future I'll stick to the taxi for this hotel. I arrived too late to eat but there was no wait to check in and the hotel staff were very pleasant and efficient and got me to my quickly. The bathroom was large enough to shower comfortably and the bed was excellent. The blackout curtains and good sound insulation meant I got a very restful night's sleep. Breakfast in the business lounge had everything I needed with plenty of space to sit down at 6am. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again before an early AM flight from LHR. Collapse

- unfriendly staff and they don't smile. + clean rooms and public areas. - you call front desk few times and none picks up. + close to the airport for quick transit. -paid wifi in most of room unless you in executive rooms.

We stayed at the London Heathrow Renaissance Marriott 1 day upon landing in London from New York. Tired off of our 7 hour flight, we dragged into the bar / lounge, hoping for a morsel of food. The place was rocking with some office Christmas party. We were just hoping for a few chips and a salad, instead we were served an Indian meal fit for a king by a Prince of a Waiter named Praian! He explained that a fantastic authentic chef was in the kitchen, and proceeded to guide us in the perfect menu selections. Never have I ever had a better waiter. He was there JUST when you needed him with a fantastic suggestion. He made sure we had wines that we loved, and that our meals were divine! We had two Indian meals in London at fancy restaurants later in our stay. We were stunned that the food at the AIRPORT Marriott was the BEST! Thanks to Prain and team for a fantastic welcome to your town! PS - the beds were more comfortable than another luxury hotel we stayed at in-town London. Collapse

I've written previously about Carluccio's' poor service and quality of food. But this review is aimed at the Executive Lounge and the management support. The executive lounge is a dark hole on the ground floor with no windows. Breakfast is included as is standard this for these lounges and the quality of the offering on here has diminished. Not only is the food poorer - in what English hotel is marmalade not available? - but why is the heating always up so high? Myself and other guests asked this question and were told "I know, I've said to manager, sorry I can't do anything". When I asked where the manager was, we were told "I don't know... he come in late". Shameful way to support of your staff and put them in the firing line. On this final point, myself and my partner had a drink in the bar downstairs the night before and there were two bartenders working their backsides off while people waited 15 mins for service. Again, I asked why they were left so short of help? I was told... our manager is busy. Come on Marriott. What are you doing? Collapse

I've been coming to this hotel for years, for an overnight stopover for a next day flight. It used to be a great Marriott Hotel. This hotel has totally changed. It was great, now it is terrible. Only room service is Carlucci the fast food Italian Restaurant, and the food I ordered was disgusting. I complained and was told that they make their food in the early morning and then serve it all day. As I ordered my dinner at 8 pm, the food was 14 hours old and it tasted as such. As this is the only restaurant in the hotel, no room service, I had to go to sleep hungry. The rooms have been redone, BUT the first room I was given had a mold smell in the bathroom so I had to change rooms. I woke up at 4 am hungry from not having eaten dinner. Had to wait to 6 am for the breakfast in the Executive Lounge, which seemed to have less choices for than before. Overall, I am so disappointed that to what has happened to this Marriott Hotel. It is just very odd. Have to find another hotel at the airport as this one is no longer comfortable or an option. Collapse
