The Hotel is very nice BUT I was disappointed in the comfort of the beds and the Flat sheets on the beds instead of Fitted sheets. Also the Maids were in the halls very early both days and were not very quiet. We really enjoyed the pool and the food from the Grill The parking was not very convenient and was very confusing to find the Hotel. We were there at the same time as friends and had requested rooms close to each other and would have liked to have had adjoining rooms but were never offered that option... We were disappointed to have not had adjoining rooms ... Collapse

Everyone we spoke with at this resort was friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was wonderful. That's amazing in a day where it seems customer service is a thing of the past! The valet, Jamie, was particularly attentive. She discovered my son just had a birthday and sent up an awesome complimentary room service cart with cupcakes we could decorate ourselves, balloons tied off with a Twix bar, and a stuffed Spider-Man. He was so excited at his surprise party! Even in mid-May with a "moderate" crowd there were many times that the Express passes that were included were very useful! It was also great to get in the park 1 hour earlier in order to visit the Harry Potter area since Express passes didn't work there. The kids loved using the wands they purchased ($53/each) to cast spells! I think the best part was being able to walk to the resorts. The water taxis are available too, but it was such an easy walk to the parks that we often did that. As for the pool area at the hotel, the kids enjoyed swimming and the water feature. They have complimentary towels, water, sunscreen, and bug spray available. They had movies at the pool at night, but we were always busy at the parks and didn't give it a try. We didn't eat dinner at the resort, only breakfast. We brought some pop tarts and cereal with us for some days. One day we tried the Island Grille. It was wonderful albeit expensive for what we normally spend on breakfast. The kids enjoyed talking with Eulalie. We found the grab-n-go station at the Orchid Court Lounge to be reasonable. It had boiled eggs which helped provide some protein as opposed to just sugar for breakfast. Just needed some bacon! :) The rooms were well equipped and clean. As great as this resort was, there are always things to improve. The biggest issue we had was that we were told we could use any of the other Loew's resort facilities. The kids wanted to visit Cabana Bay for the water slide and lazy river. What they didn't tell us was that our room keys wouldn't get us into the gate at Cabana Bay. We had walked all the way down Garden Walk and got stuck at the gate. We had to make several calls, finally got security to come up, and then we had to walk all the way to the lobby to get key cards made. Another inconvenience is that we had to walk all the way through CityWalk to the entrance of the parks to catch the shuttle to SeaWorld & Aquatica. It would be great if they could pick up at the front lobby. Or perhaps a different route to get to them. In the mornings it feels like you are "swimming upstream" and often hard to get where you need to go with little kids. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation at a top-notch resort. Collapse

We again stayed here three nights as part of our royal Caribbean post-cruise package. The hotel rooms had been remodeled since our last stay and are much better! Many reviews balk at the "barn door" design of the bathroom but I thought it was nice and felt modern. The room had a Keurig, refrigerator and a safe which were all much appreciated. Our room had a partial waterway/park view and what a nice view it was at sunrise. The staff were friendly and helpful as always. Even the "good morning" (*every time!")from housekeeping staff was appreciated. Can't say we ever saw a employee who didn't acknowledge us with a friendly greeting! The bellhop that picked up our luggage educated us on park history and rumored future projects -- his conversation was fun one could tell he loved his job and was excited about the parks and activities. Breakfast at the Island Restaurant is still the place to go for breakfast with the pancakes and french toast being menu highlights for us. With the included express pass, this is just simply the HAVE TO STAY resort at Universal Florida. Collapse

The hotel is beautiful, and the extras such as express passes and early admission make the added cost worth the stay. The downside is the long wait for the water taxis and the lack of knowledge from the hotel staff.
