My family and I stayed at this resort for the opening weekend of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. I must say this resort was outstanding! The theming was excellent. It actually felt like you were in Italy when you walked around the main courtyard by the bay. There are several restaurants to pick from right onsite including a quick service place. There is also a Starbucks onsite. The kids loved the pool and the slide. On top of it all you get express passes to both Universal parks during your entire stay. It does cost a little more then the other resorts but once in a while you can find dates with prices that are in the low 200's. There is a 22 dollar charge to park a car onsite which I still don't understand why these places charge??? Disney does not charge for parking. Also don't forget about the 12.5% tax you have to pay while staying at any resort in Orange County FLORIDA. We will definitely go back sometime if they ever have a deal in the low 200's again. I'm never been one to post negative comments or complain about pretty much anything but this visit merits my remarks. I stayed at the Loews Portofino Bay for 2 nights 3 days back in August 25-27, 2107. Had such a wonderful time that when my family mentioned spending my sons birthday in Orlando I immediately demanded we stay here again. (Just a few days after). $2000 for our package which included only their tickets (I still had my second visit tickets to be used) and the two rooms. For one night because we were fleeing Irma's rathe on our STILL powerless homes. This time there were 10 of us, rooms 3338 and 3340, on September 13-14. Upon arrival all was well as usual. The front desk manager greeted us immediately and made us feel at home. Tia, at the front desk, was a complete delight and very helpful. The issue came that evening when, a few different issues occurred. The first was at Bice. On our last stay we had a phenomenal time at Mama Dellas and debated wether or not to go again, but because it was a birthday event we figured we'd splurge at the "so-called" fancier restaurant and try something new. No complaints on the food, that was fantastic. But our server was clearly not having a good day or was bothered by us (certainly how we felt anyhow) and made the entire experience quite frustrating and worthless. $450 later (party of 6), We were very disappointed. And still tipped over 15%. Certainly didn't deserve the 22% we are accustomed to tipping. But that doesn't end our troubles. That evening, after walking city walk for a couple of hours with little ones, we retired to our rooms to find that, not one, but both of the beds were dirty on the flip sides of the duvets (that is to say, the sides not clearly visible until you attempt to turn down the sheets and get into bed.) I called the front desk and they sent room service in to change the sheets. After showing the room service personnel the beds and the blood and lipstick stains, she looked at me and asked if I wanted both the beds changed,,,really?!?! What do you think?? My frustration was very clear at this point. It was almost midnight and both my little ones were in chairs falling asleep in their pjs as we waited to have our beds made at that time. Oh wait,,, there's still more. Once she was gone and I got the kids into bed, I started to prepare our clothes for the next morning only to find that the previous guest's room key, tissues and dinner napkins were still in the top drawer of our dresser. WOW!!!! Very sad Loews Portofino. Very sad. I am clearly convinced that our rooms were never cleaned AT ALL before our arrival. I have attached picture evidence of all our issues. I'm very disappointed. And feel embarrassed to have recommend this resort to the rest of my family on such an important event. image1.JPG image2.JPG image4.JPGimage3.JPG image5.JPG Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights during Hurricane Irma. This hotel far exceeded our expectations! During the hurricane, they provided a Full Buffett of Food - it was like going to a wedding! With live piano music, full bar, Minion Characters walking the grounds and entertainment for the kids. They did an amazing job keeping everything organized. Our room was so nice with a gorgeous view of the Lake. It was so nice. The staff at every restaurant and location was so nice! They were very professional and I would give this hotel 6 stars if I could. It is so convenient to the parks and you get Fast Passes for free. I highly recommend staying here and worth any extra $ if you can afford it. Collapse
