Had a nice time for a five night visit with my husband and two teens. We opted for club level for the convenience of having access to round the clock soft drinks and bottled water, continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, happy hour daily and evening dessert buffet. We did it take advantage of these daily because we spent a lot of time at the parks but it was a nice option to have available. Michael goes out of his way to welcome guests in the club. Housekeeping left something to be desired. For $577 per night a family of four should not have to ration soap at the end of the day. Yes, on the last night housekeeping did not leave any soap for us when making up the room. The bathroom door does not have a lock on it and the rooms have a very odd feature of having an archway from the bathroom which looks out into the bedroom area. The archway has shutters but our rooms shutter closure was broken thereby forcing the shutters permanently in an open position. I fixed it myself using a rubber band but for $577/night the darn closure should be gold plated and WORK. Ate at Mamas and Bice. Both were great. Paul, server at Bice, was outstanding. Anna's singing on the terrace on Tuesday night was incredible. Universal should learn something from Disneys use of the magic band. We were presented with 4 room keys, 2 club room keys, 4 park admission cards, and 4 express pass cards upon check in. Now be sure that you, your spouse and your two teens don't misplace any of the 16 aforementioned cards during your vacation or you will have yourself a headache. To keep yourselves organized they SELL lanyards for containing your cards for about $10 each. For what they charge they should at least make these complimentary like they did during my previous visit 8 years ago. Collapse

Me and my wife returned with our 8 yr old daughter after our first visit 10 years ago and as part of out anniversary celebration. The hotel is still a beautiful setting with great pool/ beach bar and the rooms themselves are 5 star. Sadly the experience of poor service followed by no follow up after complaint spoiled the experience for us. The sad thing is we had such a simple request. Our daughters sofa bed unlike the main bed had no quilt and just a thin blanket. We knew she would be cold as weather cooler than usual this time of year from previous experiences. Cutting a long story short after 4 phone calls, 2 visits to reception and 2 hours we finally received the quilt in a quilt cover requested. We had travelled for a total 13 hours from UK and after grabbing food we just wanted to sleep. I said to reception that I could not comprehend why it took so much effort for a simple request. I put in a complaint but was allowed to leave without any apology or minor gesture to say sorry. Certainly will not be visiting this hotel on our next visit and sadly it's ruined not only this experience but to some extent the positive feelings we had about this hotel from 2007. Lack of customer care means this hotel not worth the money. Collapse

Lets knock out the headaches.... if you have a larger family and book more than one room, requiring when booking to have joining rooms the hotel does not guarantee they can accommodate that reservation set up when you get there. Our family was split up the first night :( After multiple phone calls and an hour of waiting for luggage went down and retrieved myself so could get kids to bed. Hotel did work to get joining rooms next day so we packed everything up and moved for the rest of the week (bellman helping was FANTASTIC, told boys all about his passion for Star Wars and Storm Troopers). Other issue worth noting, meal cards, pre-purchased at the hotel to use in the parks for meals, drinks and snack. Great idea, makes things very simple, right? NO! The cards would not work so over four day visit we spent hours in meal lines while they hand wrote each meal ticket number down for each item purchased. The money was already spent in purchasing the cards and no refund so had to use them whole time. Unless the system gets fixed I don’t recommend the meal cards unless you have incredible patience and enjoy standing in line and apologizing for holding up the people behind you. The rest of the review is very positive for the hotel and location. Lines for boat ride to City Walk can be long first thing in morning and when parks close, so don’t be surprised if you use the path to walk back and forth a few times. It’s not a bad walk especially in the morning when everyone is filled with excitement. There is also option to catch a bike ride, good choice after long days in the park. Carry cash to provide them payment if you go that route. Guest rooms are spacious, huge bathrooms, good closet systems and storage options. The complementary bath products are wonderful. Breakfast buffet is delicious, lots of choices for everyone, and quick so can get to parks for early opening. Just ask for drinks right away or you might have to wait on those well into breakfast. Food offered at pool is not that great for price but the convenience and relaxing in that environment makes up for it. There is an arcade, which no matter what is always a magnet for our boys. It's pricey, like they all are, but boys said it does have some cool games. Overall, nice property and our family had a BLAST during our whole stay! Wishing you laughter and smiles too for this awesome vacation destination! Collapse

It's a wonderful place... the Italian atmosphere, the restaurants and the services were special... And we also had the Express Pass in both Universal Theme Parks ... We are waiting for the opening of the Water Park to go back there...
