My husband and I stayed at The Lex NYC for five nights in March 2017, and what a terrific visit. The hotel is centrally located with ready access to public transportation for visiting spots in uptown and downtown. Check in was a breeze, and we immediately felt welcome and comfortable. The room was modern and exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The modern decor and comfortable bed made me feel like a got a real bargain. Our room was on the 6th floor above Lexington, but the city noise didn't bother us at all. We slept like babies after long days filled with lots of sight-seeing. We often try a choose hotels located away from the larger tourist areas to get a real sense of an individual neighborhood. The Lex fit the bill. Lexington Ave has plenty of small restaurants and 3rd Ave provides a wide variety of small eateries as well. The Hummus Kitchen and Penelope's which are both only 5 minutes away, and the food in little India is fantastic. We discovered a old fashioned pinball arcade right around the corner - what a fine discover indeed. Collapse

Lovely hotel walking distance to most sights we didn't bother with buses and taxis as we walked to places quicker. Unfortunately it snowed while we were here and lots of places were closed because staff not being able to get too work. They were quick too clear pavements but they shovelled snow into gutters and made it impossible to cross roads ha. Collapse

I've just got home from spending a week at the Lex. Overall it is a brilliantly located, stylish, clean and modern hotel that I would definitely recommend. Staff are welcoming, pleasant and extremely courteous - I found Rumel and Maurice to be particular nice as they always offered me my favourite black tea on arriving back at the hotel after a chilly day out and about! Having complimentary tea and coffee to be brought to your room is a nice touch. The breakfast was better than I expected - although there isn't huge variety (hot drinks, juice, croissants, mini sweet pastries, two types of muffin, apples, oranges and bananas) what is there is delicious, good quality and plentiful. It set me up for the day and I enjoyed watching the world go by from the comfort of the lobby each morning whilst planning my day. I had a cosy room, and it surpassed my expectations in terms of size, cleanliness and design. Lovely toiletries, spotless, great bath and shower, large extremely comfy bed and a bathroom light that makes sound effects! :-). The reason I have given 4 and not 5 is because firstly the air conditioning is VERY loud and woke me up multiple times most nights, and secondly because on arriving at the Lex I was given room 302, which I had the misfortune to spend one night in. It has an adjoining door (locked, not that it made any difference!) with the next room and I could hear every single word the loud couple said. I asked straight away if I could be moved, and the staff were very understanding but said they were fully booked that night. However I could be moved the next day. So I packed up everything (I had just unpacked!), had a sleepless night listening to the couple make a lot of noise and the next day my bags were moved to a quiet haven known as room 701. Much better! So although this was handled well, as I was a solo traveller staying for a week, it annoyed me that they thought they could put me in an extremely noisy room and get away with it. So beware room 302 - I'm not sure how many other (if any) of the rooms have this issue but don't expect the noise will get better - it won't! All in all though after this bad start my room and stay were faultless, and I would definitely stay again. Collapse

This is a belated review as we stayed in The Lex at the end of October 2016. The hotel is modern and very well appointed. We had one of the rooms on the ground floor behind the lift, despite this we heard virtually no noise from the reception area or the neighbouring rooms. The room was very clean and quite spacious (for NYC rooms) the bed very comfortable and the bathroom was a reasonable size with plenty of hot water and a good shower over the bath. The location of the hotel was well situated on Lexington Avenue, we walked a lot including at night and the area felt very safe. The reception staff were really helpful and gave us several recommendations for local restaurants. The hotel provided a continental type breakfast with coffee, hot water and orange juice, a really good start to the day especially when we were awake about 4am on our first day in NYC, it would have been a long wait for breakfast in any of the local diners at that time of day. On our last day there was a problem with our taxi booking, the reception staff tried their best to resolve this with the taxi firm and then ordered us another taxi when our failed to materialise. I would be very happy to stay in The Lex again on our next trip to New York. Collapse
