My Husband and I visited New York for the 2nd time to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We chose this hotel because of it's location and proximity to Central Park. We advised the hotel that we would be celebrating our wedding anniversary whilst staying there. When we arrived at the hotel (5 mins before check in time), our room wasn't ready, they told us they would call us when it was, this was some 45minutes later. The receptionist teased us with the possibility of a room upgrade, it didn't happen. The room itself was a little disappointing. We had a view of the park, which was simply stunning, particularly as we were on floor 38/42, but they clearly compromise the size of the rooms for the view. There was hardly any drawer storage, the wardrobe was built in to the wall but had a curtain as a door! Surely a luxury hotel can offer a wardrobe with proper closing doors? The safe is located in said wardrobe and not even attached to the wall! The mini bar isn't a fridge, it's a cupboard offering you treats of wine, beer and chocolate, all of which are warm! And expensive at that! We never bothered having anything from it because of the fact it wasn't chilled. My Husband had arranged for a bottle of fizz and a bowl of fruit on arrival, both of which were lovely and then followed up with another bowl of fruit and a bottle of still water, compliments of the hotel for our Anniversary, which was a nice touch. For reasons that we don't understand, house keeping decided to take the uneaten, yet still perfectly edible fruit away on the 3rd out of our 5 day stay. It was replaced quickly after we reported it to reception. Whist the room was small and very basic, it was immaculately clean as was the bathroom. With regards to the rest of the hotel, the swimming pool on the top floor offers a view to die for and is definitely worth a visit. The lifts have non-stop films showing, but the corridors are quite dark and could do with some better lighting. The staff were polite and attentive and always happy to help with any issues/requests etc. We did enjoy our stay at the hotel, with the view we had, it would be hard not to, however we would not stay there again nor would we recommend it. There are plenty of other hotels in the vicinity that offer the same view and accessibility to some of the most visited parts of Manhattan which probably offer a bit more in the way of luxury, which we felt Le Parker Meridien lacked. This is why we selected this Starwood property. Excellent proximity to Central Park, 6th ave, TimesSq, Madison Ave and Radio City. Safe area as well. Property was better than most reviews I had read. I'm pretty tough on hotels and the rooms we had (5th floor) were very clean, nice furnishings and toiletries. Service was outstanding all around! Kudos to concierge who set us up with last minute helicopter experience - incredible. Pricey but I think for a special 3-day weekend - you can justify it! Collapse

We traveled to NY for a quick Christmas visit with our children. I made the reservation in June and have been reading reviews online, so I thought I owed it to everyone to post one of my own. It seems to me that the reviews have been about half good, half bad. Based on the negative reviews, I even thought about changing hotels at the last minute but was hoping for the best. Unfortunately our experience, at least with the room itself, was more disappointing than pleasant. To be fair there was nothing really bad about the hotel, there was just nothing really good. The positive: The water pressure was great The staff were generally very nice and helpful The room was clean Good location The bad: When I stay at a hotel that describes itself as luxury, I expect plush, well appointed accommodations that essentially wrap me in a warm embrace of comfort. The rooms at Le Meridien are the exact opposite of what you would expect. The room had sparse and basic furniture and no decorations. All the materials felt older, thin and worn. Especially during the holidays, there's something odd about returning from 5th Avenue to a hotel room that in some ways, looks like a low-rent apartment. When taking a shower if you open the door to reach for something outside of the shower, a tidal wave of water pours out into the floor that takes about 4 towels to clean up. If you like the location and think basic accommodations with good staff at the offered price are worth it, then this hotel might be a decent compromise. If you are looking for anything close to a luxury experience or rooms with classic decor, you should look at nearby alternatives. Collapse

This is a good hotel and meets every requirement for a 4 star hotel. Given how expensive it is, however, I would say that it's only worth staying here if the location is particularly important for your visit. It's near Carnegie Hall, Central Park, Times Square, Hells Kitchen and the subway - which was very convenient. The room and facilities were nice, but it was perhaps a bit of a characterless place. I wouldn't recommend it for a romatic trip as a couple! Collapse

Great location, and fantastic perks of getting takeout/room service from burger bar. Also had brunch at Norma's which was great. The rooms are in need of renovation, and the bed was surprisingly uncomfortable. Average value for price.
