This hotel is really a very beautiful hotel with a great location. The problem is the service for such a grand hotel is totally lacking. Normally U would expect a top 5 star service but unfortunately it was terrible. Points to state is the electronic keys failed and to get the rooms open one would have to walk about 500 metres to the reception to get service. Second my son gave a suit to be ironed and they lost his trousers. We hired a car but mysteriously the car disappeared for 24 hours. So all in all its a great place but really horrible service. Will not repeat in future. Collapse

Because the Entertainer had vouchers for this place and because it is a 2mn walk from home, we decided to give it a try. Obviously having been in Dubai for a few years now we've tried numerous beach day passes but this is the worst!! The entire staff we interacted with, from the entrance, the beach to the restaurant were useless and sometimes unprofessional. We know it is hard for hotels in Dubai to retain quality staff but it appears this hotel is getting the scraps (and maybe because they pay for scraps). The food in the restaurant is average and overall the experience is not that of a 5* hotel and even less so at Dubai standards. Also, the beach access is by far not the cheapest so I would definitely not recommend this place for a day at the beach and would not recommend it to visitors that I could not accommodate in my home, it even if it's right next door! Méridien, get your act together because in Dubai, prime location is not enough to keep a good repute!! Collapse

I booked this hotel through Booking.com for our 35th wedding anniversary having stayed in Dubai for our 25th and 30th and this was without doubt the best by a country mile. We opted for a club room with sea view and what a great choice this was, more expensive yes, but the benefits out weigh the extra cost. Included in the club room rate were the airport transfers in one of the hotels luxury cars. we landed at 8.30 am and the driver was waiting for us once we got out of arrivals. A visit to the duty free is essential as you cannot buy alcohol in any of the shops and to be honest the hotel prices are steep so 4 litres of spirits later we were off. We arrived at the hotel about 10.30am and went straight to reception, I had already requested an early check in time but thought we would have to change into our beach gear and wait until the room was ready but no it was ready so went straight up, amazing. We were on floor 8 and the views were absolutely stunning of the hotel grounds, beach and sea. I had opted for a king sized bed which was very comfortable indeed. The room was spotless and had everything you needed and in the bathroom there was a bath and a great separate shower cubicle. The advantage of the club room was firstly the free airport transfers but more importantly access into the club lounge on floor 10. Breakfast with a view over the Persain Gulf and marina could not be faulted but the best thing were the free drinks between 6pm - 8pm, the sun goes down early in Dubai so it wasn't a problem being washed and changed for 7.00pm. The hotel grounds were shared with those of the hotel next door, the Westin, so they were enormous, lots of sun loungers on the grass, the beach and by the pools, there were even child free zones, a big bonus for some. The hotel staff were friendly and polite and could not be more helpful. The restaurants at both hotels were first rate and we could not fault the food either. We ate out away from the hotels three times but the taxis are cheap. People have commented on the noise from the Barasti Beach Club next door, which all Le Meridian hotels guests have access to, yes it does go on until 1.30 most nights but with our balcony door closed and aircon on it certainly did not disturb us and generally we sat out and listened to the music with one last drink. We also visited there several nights and the place was rocking in a good way and was definitely the place to be seen for the much younger locals, plus there was a very large TV screen showing lots of football. All in all having stayed in a 5* apartment on the palm and in an hotel on Dubai Creek this was the best location and accommodation we have stayed in in Dubai, we shall certainly be returning. The perfect place for young families

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Meridien, travelling with our 3 young children (under 10 years old). I cannot rate our holiday highly enough. The hotel is 25 minutes drive from the airport, and shares the same site as the Westin hotel. There is no doubt that the Westin is grander, more opulent-looking and generally posher - the Meridien doesn't have the same "wow" factor, (the rooms and bathrooms are smaller etc), BUT make no mistake - the Meridien is an absolutely fantastic hotel. It has a great, family-friendly and personal feel to it. Essentially, it's the staff that make this hotel so fabulous. From the greeting at check-in, to the gardeners, the cleaners, the restaurant and kids club staff, they are all wonderful. Polite, smiling, helpful - they go all out to make your stay first class. For those with young families, it's perfect; we had an interconnecting room, there are kids menus everywhere, and kids choosing from this menu eat free if you are staying half board. The kids club is brilliant - it's free, and you can turn up whenever you want. There is inside space (including arts and crafts, soft play) and outside space (with a playground, areas for football, basketball and badminton). You can stay with the children or leave them and there are a range of activities, especially for those over 8 years old. The staff work so hard - we were particularly impressed with Malik and Keevan. The restaurant staff were also terrific - Sanjeewa (at the Latest Recipe) and Puneet (the lunchtime cafe) provided an awesome service and made a real effort with the children. The hotel shares all facilities with the Westin, meaning you have twice the choice - whether it's choosing restaurants, which pools to swim in, where to sit on the beach. To sum it up, if you want a lovely atmosphere, and a hotel which welcomes families with open arms, while still being classy and of high quality, you could not go for a better hotel. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again! Collapse

There are a few ways in which you can get to the hotel. Either by taxi, uber or rail. We took the rail from the airport which took approx 1hr 30 mins. A taxi would have taken a lot less but due to storms there was a 2 hr wait for one. The rail is very cheap but it is almost impossible to get a seat and it does require a change onto the tram. The tram stops right outside the hotel and provides easy access to the rail which goes to many major stops. There is also a supermarket directly opposite the hotel which is of good value. The Dubai marina is within walking distance and provides many restaurants and boat trips. We found ubers to be more expensive than normal taxis but don't fall into the trap of getting into a lexus normal taxi. These are classed as limos and they charge double the normal price. This happened to us at the Dubai mall but luckily we got a hotel staff member to help us and cut the price down. Zero Gravity is also within walking distance and highly recommended. The hotel is lovely. It is smaller than most hotels but allows access to the hotel next door. If you are half board then this is a must as most restaurants are in the other hotel. It is only a very short distance away and they also offer a golf caddy if required to take you there (but it is not needed). The reason this review is not 5 stars is because 3 restaurants are not included in the half board offer and unfortunately my husband and I were only aware of 2 not being included. Therefore we ate at one of the charged restaurants and had a large bill when we checked out which the hotel were not prepared to change. The restaurants are nice but the buffet proved to be our favorite. We couldn't understand why the price for bottled water was so high as it is provided free in your room. As many bottles as you want but they charge 20 dhs for a bottle at dinner. Also in your room are bath amenities such as body wash, shampoo and lotion. There is also a kettle and fridge. We asked for the mini bar to be emptied so we had room to put our own items in. There is no ice bucket in the rooms but it can be requested from room service and brought free of charge. I emailed the hotel prior to arriving to ask for a high floor room and to inform them of my husbands birthday. We received a room on floor 7 which had amazing views and a cake with a card for my husband. I'm sure you have read about the noise from Barasti. Yes it is loud and if you are a light sleeper you may struggle. There was a festival on for 3 days whilst we were there and the noise was very loud. However the festival was fantastic and as we were staying at the hotel we didn't need to queue to get in. I thought I would struggle sleeping but I did not. Maybe ask for a higher room. There was never an issue with getting sun loungers and towels are provided. The beach and sea are amazing before dinner time. When the tide is out it is very shallow. Later on in the afternoon it becomes deeper and the shells can be a little painful on your feet. Staff walk around with cold towels twice a day and were kind enough to inflate our inflatable for us. There are watersports but they come at an additional cost. Collapse
