Upon arrival we were given an information sheet with wrong information about the beach towel policy. Result was we couldn't find the towels in the room (as advised), despite searching everywhere, and we didn't have enough cash with us as a 'towel deposit' (normally, all around the world, they have towel registers with towel entries IN/OUT per room, BTW). When we went to the reception to look for the towels Ms. Ana at reception was not only totally unapologetic, but she had a challenging attitude (!!!). When we returned the towels and I asked my husband for room no. (it happens... I couldn't remember the no., just arrived, nothing strange) this same person Ana laughed about me... (ehh??). Now, to be clear: good manners foresee (especially for reception staff) that you can laugh WITH a person/customer, not ABOUT him/her. This was unbelievable/unaccetaple. First time I experienced that. As for the rest: hotel décor is nice, next to the beach (NOT on the beach). But really, you can't treat customers like that. I just wanted to leave ASAP. Collapse

Had a great stay at Las Gaviotas suites. Had a great room, spacious and clean with a nice view over the adult pool. The food was superb, it truly was fantastic. The majority of staff were really nice and always made a fuss of our little boy. Was a good mix of ages and nationalities staying in the hotel, and all were well catered for. It also seemed it was a good class of person, everyone seemed very respectful of each other which was nice. Just a few silly things prevented a 5/5. Arrived at hotel after 2 hour transfer (not hotels fault), but not a very warm welcome from reception. We had out 20 month old and 3 cases, no offer of help to our room. I spotted a luggage trolley in corner of lobby and asked if I could use it, and just received a nod. The pool bar staff left us sitting at a table for ages without any attention on two separate occasions. They also served someone who arrived after us. I got up and got a menu which seemed to get some attention, however no apologies and it was almost frowned upon that I got my own menu. It made me leave and go out of the hotel for some lunch. The restaurant manager always seemed a bit rude, we felt that he valued older guests more and seemed to be polite and talk to them, whereas he was pretty ignorant to us. The hotel bar in the evenings didn't have much life, and entertainment was limited to two nights a week. If it had more life to it then we would have spent time in there, however it kinda felt like a waiting room. Definitely a great hotel and would stay there again. Also really like playa de muro, which is a good base and has a fantastic beach. Collapse

Hotel is modern and very clean, the staff are all very polite and helpful. Its located close to the beach, which is big and fairly clean, about 100 metres away. We had no hot water for 4 days when we arrived, we were not told this on arrival (25th june to 29th june) boiler broken. We asked at reception and reply we got was half the hotel are complaining about this should be fixed by wednesday. Thats it....So cold showers morning and night. No compensation..... The main pool was very cold, the sea was alot warmer though there was no problem getting a sunbed at 10am even though the hotel was 80% German guests lol. We did find the restaurant a little busy at times but the most annoying thing was that a lot of the food was luke warm or cold, also cold plates to start with. Breakfast was a bit repetitive and we did have to wait for a few things to be cooked. eg Eggs Food and Drinks were a little pricey and smaller glasses but you would expect this compared to the local bars. Overall the hotel is good but I would not return here or the resort as its a bit boring after 3-4 days as there is nothing to do once you have walked up and down a few times, a few shops that all sell the same and a few bars.(Also not a very clean resort) I think this Hotel is geared up for the German holiday makers, up market type not many British there. Nothing for children to do except play in the pool, no clubs or entertainment. Collapse

The hotel has a nice area (pools, spa, big and clean rooms) however, a part of the staff falls short. The transfer driver was late and EXTREMELY RUDE to our group and the receptionists could make an effort to be more friendly (they act like you are bothering them and they are doing you a favor for being there and answering to your questions, even during check-out)! Also in our 4 days stay we had to take cold showers during 3 days due to some technical problems.. Collapse

I stayed at Las Gaviotas with some girl friends for a long weekend and it was perfect. We all had our own rooms (no extra cost). The rooms were contemporary in style and simply but elegantly designed with good sized balconies. My daughter and her friend were sharing a room and the hotel upgraded them to a suite. The breakfast was beautiful - plenty of choice including lots of beautifully prepared fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, cheese , good bread selection as well as cooked food. They also had cava freely available which was a lovely touch. The 2 pools were great too with the one set up for lane swimming being slightly warmer for the pre breakfast swim. The hotel had a lovely sense of calm and relaxation and the staff were truly wonderful. Special mention to Adele on reception who was very warm, friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend this hotel. Collapse
