My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days, from the 8th of November 2010. We were nothing but impressed at the high standards that this hotel set. Everything was really clean; the staff were really friendly, helpful and always went out of their way to provide a truly excellent customer experience. The room was more than sufficient for what we needed it for, the maid came in daily, made our beds and replaced the towels in the bathroom with fresh ones everyday. The shower was very powerful and didn't change temperature. To run a bath took seconds and the water was always plenty hot enough. Our only worry was the location of the hotel to Belfast city centre. The hotel has a lovely spa. The sauna, swimming pool, steam rooms, jacuzzi and gym facilities are to a very high standard. There is little reason to venture out of the hotel if you want a relaxing weekend away; however, it is a short taxi ride to the city centre which can work out quite expensive. Our taxis cost between £10 and £14 each way and this soon adds up. We went to the city at least every day, but are used to high travel costs with a single bus journey costing us around £5 each at home anyway. When asking the hotel staff about alternative travel methods, they set up a complimentary lift for us whenever and wherever we wanted to go, which certainly goes above and beyond everything I have ever experienced before. Even when setting up for a big conference, they still managed to spare us a member of staff which we are more than grateful for. The staff were very easy to talk to, giving advice and recommending places and things to see. We couldn't have asked for anything more from them. The managing director of the hotel was most friendly and refreshing. He made every possible effort to ensure that his guests had the best possible experience, even if it was just by saying good morning and asking them how there stay was. He was actually the person who set up the lifts for us and made sure that he had personal rapport with as many people as possible. After speaking to the staff, they had nothing but good things to say about him and all of them seemed grateful to be working for him. This reflected in their attitudes and provided a good atmosphere at all times. Collapse

Had our staff Christmas dinner here last Saturday night 9 December what a night!! My friend and I stayed over the room was nice very modern and the shower was great. We had chocolates left in the room which was a lovely touch. The party night was fantastic the foods was great. The service was excellent considering the amount of people in attendance. The group playing were called The All Stars and were fabulous. From the first song, the dance floor was packed. I have never been to a Christmas party when the dance floor wasn’t big enough. Thank you to all the hotel staff brilliant night would book here again. Collapse

3rd time we have stayed here- we will not be back. Service at dinner very slow and food was really low standard. Starter of vegetable soup was awful. Turkey dinner was drowned in gravy and salty. Add to this we were put at a table that immediately we felt very cold to be told yes we find it very hard to warm this bit (windows up to ceiling) they then lit a fire that went out fairly quickly. All in all dinner took nearly 2 hours which for a 4 year old is too long. The room was good size and very clean. However the heating initially was good (large radiator that could be turned up and down) but then next morning no heat so room got very cold. Overall expensive for a very average stay with awful food. Collapse

Firstly we checked in at the hotel and everything was fine to start with, however this didn't last long as on arrival no one had any clue on reception or any information as to what was involved in the santa stay over. After this we decided to go for dinner, in this time we gathered information that the elf would be knocking on our door at 6 0 clock. first impression off the waitress where vey good and helpful. she then took our order and the food came out in good time although we where left sitting for 5 minutes before we where even giving cutlery. On finishing our dinner we had received no service and waited 30 mins before speaking out as we had to get dessert and be in our room for the elf coming, therefore they had took our dessert order, we waited 25 mins on this coming but by this point it was 5 to 6 so we had to leave dessert as we didn't have time as we didn't want to be late for the elf. we then requested to cancel dessert and to pay for the main course as this was a two course meal deal. On the till the waitress wasn't to sure how to go about only paying for one so she called SHARON the manager for assistance, (baring in mind we are the easiest going people and would take a lot for us to complain) but to be honest for the La Mon hotel to have such a big title behind its name it baffles me how they could have such and ignorant, cheeky, rude woman to be manager of the bistro. ( Although we might sound posh we are most certainly not) .Sharon obviously didn't want the hassle to put through the one course as this was awkward on the till and was basically forcing us to take our dessert to the room at least 4 times. I had explained to Sharon about the elf coming and she then rolled her eyes replying to me "fine". presenting us with a 40 pound bill as if she was handing it to a dog. I then made a complaint to reception and they said they would give us a free drink each at the bar later on that evening. As we had our daughter with us later that evening we had phoned reception for a kids meal instead of a drink they were being so helpful on the phone saying we could have anything we wanted they would accommodate us. The woman on the phone offered to bring the menu up which was great. hearing the knock on our door you wouldn't believe who it was. it was Sharon being nice saying she would get us anything we need (although the apology must have been in the post) so she went on her way to sort our food. Hearing another knock on our door we find a waiter presenting us with the food and an absolute joke of a 30 pound bill and he had no clue of the situation or what had happened (Sharon has the biggest brass neck I have ever seen) would you believe Sharon was no where to be seen. and to be honest they must have took the pizza and chips straight out of the freezer and on to the plate, completely raw. I'd say the dog would have refused it. so this morning we spoke with the manager who wasn't helpful in anyway said that all the staff working there are the same and that Sharon is nice, (there must be a few sharons working there and mixed her up with one of the nice sharons) I then asked why did Sharon not come back with the food and why we where presented with a 30 pound bill. she then replied "well in all greatest respect no manager would be delivering room service" I then replied why did Sharon bring our menu to us in the first place if managers wouldn't be doing the sort of role? this is where she pulled the shocked face saying "oh did Sharon bring you the menu? at this point she made a pathetic attempt at an excuse saying oh we had 500 people next door maybe she was distracted. All in all the place is a complete joke and by the way 150 pound for a santa stay over is a bigger joke as you would be safer taking your child to castle court and queuing for an hour and on that note if you get an email in regards to your childs favourite colour/hobby/or favourite toy prior to staying there you would be safer not replying as god knows what they'll get. we are easily pleased people but this whole thing was a waste of time and money. wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I thought they wasted enough of our time and effort for me to waste 30 mins of my Saturday night but I couldn't let that ignorant woman give another family the same experience we had, Merry Christmas ! here's hoping santa bring better attitudes this year! wouldn't go back If it was free ! :) Collapse

This is a lovely hotel on the outskirts of Belfast. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but are just looking a bit dated and my bed wasn’t as comfortable as I would expect. The leisure club is good with a nice pool and spa area, but they seem to have lots of children’s swimming lessons in the early evening, so best to avoid that time! The staff are all really friendly and helpful, on the whole a pleasant 2 night stay. Collapse
