The La Griffe Hotel is a boutique hotel in an excellent location. The staff were lovely & friendly throughout and made us very welcome. Our room was upgraded on arrival and it was very spacious and comfortable. The meals were excellent and the rooftop restaurant was a delight. Most of the sights were within walking distance which was an absolute bonus. We took the Metro to the Vatican and it was easy to use and affordable. We booked our excursions prior to departure & that proved to be advantageous as the queues at the Vatican Museums and the Coliseum were extremely long, and by pre-booking we jumped the queues. The half day trip to the Vatican Museums & the Roman Forum was absolutely amazing and our guide was very knowledgeable. Likewise with the Coliseum trip. The National Monument is an incredible sight - we could see it from the hotel rooftop and explored it ourselves. Don't miss the elevator which takes you up to the very top in close contact with the chariots! We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, needless to say it was not long enough and we will definitely be returning. Collapse

Maybe I didn't see previous comments when I chose this hotel, and I can't agree more how terrible this hotel is considering you are expecting a 5-star hotel quality during your pleasant journey. Four 5-star hotels that I have stayed during my 2-week EU vacation, and this is the worst. For a moment I suspect whether I have chosen a budget hotel by mistake...
Good location? Yes... Good view of Rome for your breakfast? Yes... Some

What a hotel! Not only are the staff attentive, helpful and friendly but the room we had was stunning - split on two levels and really luxurious. Everything is within close walking distance - apart from the Vatican but the metro is easy albeit busy. We did end up walking to the Vatican by chance on another day just wondering around and we found it! The concierge were lovely especially the night one - very friendly, helpful and had a cheeky sense of humour. Fab stay! Collapse

Stayed here for 2 nites with a family of 6, when I checked in, I asked the reception staffs for help but I have not even talk about what I need they sort of refuse to help by saying that they are fully booked for the day and the can't help me. Checked in for the second time after 2 days, I had the same answer for the same situation. I have not even told the reception staffs (different personels) what I need they already said no. I started to think that maybe the receptions staffs are not willing to help at all, regardless what their guests need. Anyway, when I got up to the room, the corridor was dark and sort of gloomy if not spooky. I felt like I was in a haunted mansion. The room was OK, not much to say about it. The breakfast was great though, beautiful scenery coz on the 9th floor. That's all I can say about this hotel. By they way, I paid different amount city tax for the same number of persons and ages, for the first and second stay, I don't know how the calculation but for 2 period of stay, same number of night, person and ages, I supposed to pay the same amount, coz it was only separated in two days?? If you actually want to sleep in your hotel room, insist on a quiet room far away from the pounding bass sounds reverberating from the 9th floor lounge. Of course the reception staff may still ignore you and stick you in a disco room like they did me. Every night I was told there would be no loud music the next night. I was naive to actually believe they were telling me the truth. Collapse

We were looking for a hotel that was away from the main crowds but would allow us easy access on foot. This was the perfect place. We had a reasonable sized room that was clean and comfortable facing the back of the hotel. There was no view but we also had no street noise. We were able to walk everywhere from this hotel as it was within a short distance of all the major sights and main roads. Breakfast was included with our room and it was served in the beautiful room top dining room - what great views over the city. Breakfast was excellent and an all-you-can-eat buffet. we were very impressed with the variety of options and all the fresh fruit and breads. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and all spoke good English. The door man was excellent at giving suggestions for local eating spots depending on our preferences. The rooftop patio was the perfect location for a pre dinner cocktail. would definitely return to this hotel. Collapse
