The La Griffe Hotel is a boutique hotel in an excellent location. The staff were lovely & friendly throughout and made us very welcome. Our room was upgraded on arrival and it was very spacious and comfortable. The meals were excellent and the rooftop restaurant was a delight. Most of the sights were within walking distance which was an absolute bonus. We took the Metro to the Vatican and it was easy to use and affordable. We booked our excursions prior to departure & that proved to be advantageous as the queues at the Vatican Museums and the Coliseum were extremely long, and by pre-booking we jumped the queues. The half day trip to the Vatican Museums & the Roman Forum was absolutely amazing and our guide was very knowledgeable. Likewise with the Coliseum trip. The National Monument is an incredible sight - we could see it from the hotel rooftop and explored it ourselves. Don't miss the elevator which takes you up to the very top in close contact with the chariots! We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, needless to say it was not long enough and we will definitely be returning. Collapse

It hurts me to rate this hotel at 4 stars when mostly it should be a 5, but sadly the room experience did detract from our stay in Rome. We were greeted by lovely staff on Reception, and as Accor Members were granted an upgrade to a Junior Suite. Good news right? Well it turns out that the Junior Suite was a two story affair with a glass spiral staircase. The porter, a lovely older man left our bag downstairs in the Lounge Area. There was room for one suitcase up in the bedroom, but not two. We elected to save our backs and joints trying to drag either of the suitcases upstairs, so we ended up usibg downstairs as our dressing room. During the first night of our two night stay I got up to go to the toilet and disoriented as one often is in a hotel room on long trips with frequent hotel changes, fell down the glass stairs that are two foot from the edgebof the bed. Thankfully I caught myself as I was falling and my damage was limited to shock and a severely bruised and scraped kneecap, that both made it painful to walk for a couple of days and even harder to navigate the stupid spiral staircase. I would love to meet the architect of the renovation and ask them what on earth were they thinking? Did they even speak to a hotel guest? Did they think about safety? I don't know how many of the Suites and rooms are two story, but if I were the hotel I would put a gate at the top of those staircases, they truly are dangerous, and are a law suit waiting to happen if someone were seriously injured. I would also suggest that upgrading guests on a long trip with large amounts of luggage is not a good idea. We went up to the rooftop restaurant and bar one night for a drink, and for breakfast on our last morning. It's a nice space. We didnt try the restaurant for dinner. Replenishment of the bacon and scrambled egg were slow 5 minutes + when we were there for breakfast, so I just had Muesli. I do want to compliment the concierge Joseph who took 10 minutes to guide us on how to spend our two days in Rome wisely, givong us a map and drawing routes and great sights to see and places to eat and get Gelato. He is a credit to the Hotel and his profession. I would be happy to return to the hotel, which is in a great location if I could have a King Room that was not two stories. Collapse

This was our first vacation in Rome as a family with a five year old and La Griffe just set the perfect tone for a fabulous time ahead! The staff was very warm and friendly especially Daniel at the front desk, who went out of his way to provide us an upgrade to a junior suite and his recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity. The suite was lovely and spacious with a king bed and a single for the child along with roomy wardrobes and a big bathroom. One small grouch was that the shower area had no glass partitions but shower curtains instead. However because of the slope on the floor,it didn't particularly matter much. And now one of the best parts!!!The breakfast room was just gorgeous with a lovely view through the glass walls, and the spread had a lot of variety (the hot variety, cold cuts/cheese, cereals, fruits and an absolutely lip-smacking array of baked goods). If you're a sweet tooth person, this is the place to forget about calories!! They have an adjoining terrace too, so you can have your coffee outside with the sound of bells of the nearby church. The location is excellent, as it's literally a 7-10 minute walk away from the Termini station(we made it in 10, but we had a 5 year old walking and 2 large suitcases) and also you can walk to the attractions like Piazza De Spagna . the hop-on hop-off bus tour tickets are available at the kiosk on the little piazza behind the hotel and the bus itself starts from in front of Termini . So all in all , extremely happy with our choice and my firm belief in Accor remains intact. Would i go back? totally!!! La Griffe remains my first choice for future Roman Holidays. Collapse
