The hotel overall was good, with only a couple of minor complaints. Breakfast and dinner were ok but nothing more. The room had a pretty good bathtub, which was great, but it couldn't be used as a shower without flooding the whole bathroom. As we were traveling with a young child in a pram, the main problem though was accessibility. You couldn't get in and out from the main reception but you had to go from a back door outside (and only on the way out!), you couldn't go to the dining room without going from outside (maybe in the rain) and even the floors where the rooms were had some small steps. Just barely ok with a pram, but I'd advice anyone with limited mobility to not go to this place. Collapse

We booked to stay for three nights in a standard room however were very pleased to have been upgraded to a Zen Room. The extra space and whirlpool bath was appreciated. It was also noted with pleasure that the hotel not only acknowledged our request for a quiet room away from the lifts but acutally commented on this when we checked in by saying we had been given a room facing away from the road and furthest from the lifts. This is the first time that an hotel has really acknowledged our requests for a room in such a pleasant manner. Room had in room safe, free WiFi, tea/cofee making, coffee machine, mini bar, large TV and aircon. Bed was comfortable, room was bright with two windows one of which could be opened. There was plenty of space for our luggage, Room was very quiet at night on the fourth floor (418?). Bathroom had whirlpool bath with overhead shower (no shower screen so the bathroom floor did get wet),hairdryer. towels could have been larger. Bathroom had sufficient toiletries. Our only issue was the 'drain smell' which at times was very strong in the bathroom as there did not appear to be sufficient ventilation. We did report this to the hotel on departure and although the smell did not spoil our stay it has prevented us from giving the hotel a five score. All the staff were wonderful, spoke good English and acknowledged us at all times with cheerly greetings, a smile and good humored banter. Really great staff. Breakfast was fine with a selection of hot and cold foods. Coffee was self service from a bean to cup machine. Breakfast room had atmosphere and some music. The hotel is used by groups however they did not affect our breakfast as they were largely gone before we took our meal. Did not eat here in the evening. There is a small bar. Hotel has a spar which we did not use Hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from Freedom Square which is where the old town begins where there are many bars and restuarants. Walk is easy and appeared to us fairly safe. There are buses and trams which go past the hotel. Not much close to the hotel however. Hotel is also about 10 minutes walk from a large indoor shopping complex. Taxi from the airport cost us 8 euros during a busy early evening. The hoitel is not in the old town however it is great value, comfortable, an easy walk into town and has very helpful staff, Collapse

We stayed at Kreutzwald hotel to have a relaxing few days and explore the city on 12-15 of July. We chose the hotel due to its value for the money, and the Jacuzzi in the Zen room seemed like a nice addition. Our arrival was very smooth, the hotel is easy to reach by bus and the check in was very swift. Richard who served us was very quick and friendly and all smiles, he seemed like an easy to approach and friendly person, so we knew we could turn to him with any queries we might have during our stay. The room was nice, a lot bigger than we expected which was good since we initially wanted to book the deluxe room but there were none available. The bathroom instead was somewhat small, considering the Jacuzzi took up quite a bit of space. Taking a shower in the Jacuzzi caused the whole floor to flood. The bathroom lock was also broken so that it couldn’t be locked, which wasn’t an issue for us, but fixing a small thing like that shouldn’t be too difficult yet would tremendously improve the overall image. The bed was very comfortable, we especially liked the pillows. The breakfast in the hotel is nice, not too big but that can’t be expected considering the size of the hotel. We love to sleep late, so we usually went to breakfast just after 10 am. On our last morning when we had to get up and eat earlier, we noticed that the selection is much better, if you go there earlier. Later on there wasn’t much variety in bread, only toast and a few pieces of rye bread, and usually the foods that had ran out weren’t replaced, or at least not very swiftly. The water and juices (=all cold drinks) were warm always, which wasn’t too enjoyable. The distance to the old town and central Tallinn wasn’t bad, 10-15 minute walk, and there were buses going all the time. It is also easy to go further away from Tallinn by bus to explore the surrounding areas. Kristiine shopping center was a short walk away, we only popped by there once very quickly but it probably has all the necessary services and shops one might need. On our last night we decided to extend our stay with one night and went down to the reception to ask if this would be possible. There was one customer in the reception filling out some forms. The receptionist (a young female) didn’t greet us or acknowledge our presence whatsoever, we stood there waiting and waiting without any action, mind me, she wasn’t even really doing anything since the gentleman filling out the forms was doing it by himself there quietly. After a while I presume she could see our frustration and managed to ask if we need any help. She got us sorted out with the room, but apparently forgot to add the extra day to our key cards since when we got back the next day the cards weren’t working. Luckily Richard fixed this in less than a minute. This was the only poor experience concerning customer service in the hotel, but it stood out since the whole day we had been rather unlucky with customer service everywhere around the town. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to people who want a comfortable room and wish to stay out of the huge chain hotels. It is a warm and intimate little hotel with good value for the money. Bed is very comfy even for longer stays, location is perfect in case you don’t wish to be in the very heart of the hassle in the town and all our needs and queries were met quickly and friendly by professional staff, excluding the one incident. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to try out the Spa or the restaurant, but hopefully next time we can enjoy those too :) Collapse

We stayed at the Kreutzwald over the weekend 23/25th June. We arranged a pick up from the airport through the hotel for 19 Euros which worked very well. You can probably get a slightly cheaper taxi but this made us comfortable no one was going to rip us off and made sure we got to the right place. Arranging this was very easy and I would recommend it. Upon arrival we were greeted by very nice receptionist (Richard I think) and the room was ready straight away. We were perfectly happy with the room - was clean and had no noticeable issues - wasn't amazing but certainly nothing bad. The hotel is about a ten minute, pleasant walk from the centre of Tallinn, and about a 25 minute walk to the ferry port. Breakfast was very good, had everything we needed. We booked directly with the hotel and on our acknowledgement it said a free bottle of wine would be waiting in our room. When we arrived however the bottle was only free if we had dinner in the hotel. We booked a long time ago, so this policy might have changed since we booked, but if you are bothered by the free bottle of wine, be aware of this! We were intending to have dinner at the hotel on the last night anyway as the weather wasn't great, and the meal was excellent (and we got our free bottle)! We didn't use any of the other facilities while we were there, but the bar also looked nice. All in all, if I stayed in Tallinn again, would be happy to stay at the Kreutzwald. Collapse

We picked this hotel because being slightly out of the city centre, it seemed better value for mone than Old Town hotels. The staff were extremely professional and helpful. There was a good selection of breakfast items and servings times of 7-11 were welcomed for lazier starts to the day. The only negative was that there was no extractor fan or any kind of ventilation in the bathroom which made it feel quite musty and damp. Apart from that it was a great stay. Collapse
