As usual, we enjoyed our stay at Kowloon Shangri-La. Overall service is excellent and professional: from breakfast, housekeeping, to friendliness. On the way back to our room after breakfast, we happened to pass by other rooms being cleaned. The staff really took time to inspect everything and thoroughly clean, including drawers. Ivan at Koi restaurant was very helpful and always greeted us during breakfasts to make sure that we are well taken care of. We wish bakery section is moved closer to the center. On our last day, the Wi-Fi was slow. When we called the Service number, they quickly resolved the issue. Another staff called to make sure internet is normal. During evening turn down, the staff also asked if internet is still working fine. Those extra care mean a lot to us as we have to do a lot of work online. The hotel is showing signs of old age but it is well maintained. Hope they will renovate soon, including more modern toiletries. We hope management also re-enforce the non-smoking rules to all guests. We saw one man was preparing to smoke cigarette as he is walking out the door. When we checked out, the front desk called someone whom later we found out to be Jacqueline Tsang, Front Desk Manager. She apologized for the internet problem, and she waited until taxi came and said good bye. We were given a box of chocolate as a token of appreciation. Again, those little extra service mean a lot to customers like us. Collapse

I visited here with my family for 4 days at the end of a 3.5 week tour across Australia, heading back to the UK. After 3 weeks of tour across Australia and a 7 hour flight from Cairns to Hong Kong we were very tired, but arriving at the Shangri-la lifted our spirits immensely. Arriving at night, our taxi from the airport to the hotel took approximately 30 minutes. If you haven't been to HK before, driving this route for the first time is awesome, the route from airport to the shangri-la has some great sights to see with all the impressive infrastructure and city lights! The hotel is situated right in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, a very popular upmarket area of Hong Kong with lots of bars, restaurants and shopping malls. The MTR station is right outside the hotel and perfect for getting around the city, with the unground walk ways linking to many places such as the Habour city mall and the Penninsular hotel. The hotel has staff everywhere with every single one making sure your stay is fabulous and ensuring you don't even have to lift a finger, they are always on hand! We were greeted in the main plaza area by guest officer Canary. Canary was absolutely amazing, she was so happy and caring and really wowed us. On our journey, it was my parents wedding anniversary and mothers birthday, we emailed the hotel prior to arrival to see if they could do anything special. The hotel and Canary went the extra mile for us! Canary upgraded our rooms, gave my mother a rose at the front desk and took a photo of us all in front of the flower arrangement in reception, which she later printed and gave to us in a card with a heart warming message. They also put champagne, chocolates, cakes and fruit in the rooms. Truly amazing and really made the arrival extra special. The rooms we stayed in were perfect, large rooms, super king beds, very soft and fine sheets and pillows. We really couldn't fault it. The room was exceptionally clean, we had loads of extra towels and a full range of bathroom products just incase you missed packing anything. Waking up at the Shangri-la is even better, breakfast is fantastic. There is a massive spread of food. Traditional western, eastern, Indian flavours and even if your a little warm, you can cool down with some mango sorbet from ice cream stand! On the last day before flying home we used the gym facility. It is a fully comprehensive facility, with a small pool, steam and sauna rooms and a well kitted out gym with modern equipment. In the changing rooms there is large lockers, lots of space, large showers and lots of free products to use including deodorants, shavers, hairspray etc. In the evenings the hotel is a special place to be, there is a cool modern Tapas bar on the waterfront with a DJ and great cocktail menu if you fancy a more upbeat environment or if you fancy a more chilled relaxed drink the lobby bar has big comfortable sofas with a pianist playing gentle tunes on a grand piano. Either way, both are great places to relax in the evenings! We were very sad to leave the Kowloon Shangri-la, the staff are great and the hotel is fantastic, I can definitely be assured that next time is visit Hong Kong I will be returning here again. We recently treated ourselves to a 2 nights stay in a room with a view at the Kowloon Shangdi-La. This truly is a lovely hotel with a traditional feel, excellent amenities and the most charming and helpful staff. They really get it right here: Five-star hotels can have the most fabulous amenities, but the staff here really make the difference! They make you feel welcome and cared for...what more do you need? Breakfast consisted of an astonishing buffet spread catering for Chinese, Indian, European and American/British tastes. The daily change of carpet in the elevator displaying the name of the day ensures you don't miss a day...and it made me smile! Plus the location is great: Easily accessible from the airport by train to Kowloon Station, from where you take the complimentary hotel shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes. The hustle and bussle of Tsim Sha Tsui and the exotic street markets of Mongkok are easily accessible on foot or by subway, as is the Star Ferry pier from where you can take a ferry across to Hong Kong Island. The entrance to the air-conditioned subway is right outside the hotel. A great experience is watching the nightly laser show display over the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon public pier near the old clock tower. It was also lovely to watch the Hong Kong youngsters hang out, listening to buskers here. Collapse

They go out of their way to ensure you are well treated - I had a lovely rose on arrival and we had a photo taken in the lobby which was then given to us in the room. We had complimentary fruit, wine and tea on arrival and the view of the harbour was absolutely breathtaking. The breakfasts are out of this world - if you stay here you won't be disappointed! We always like the Hotel chain Shangri-la, we knew we would not be disappointed in Hong Kong as well, although we find it getting a little outdated in some areas, but well maintained. Its location is excellent, next to the subway station, with good restaurants. Impeccable service, they kindly prepared a cake to celebrate my husband's birthday. Shangri-la's breakfast is always good, have various choices. Collapse
