We were upgraded from Hotel Cabin and it was absolutely wonderful. We could walk downtown, to the waterfront and restaurants. We took bus tours so was picked up right there. The front desk called us a cab one night. They were very helpful. Enjoyed our included breakfast with a lot of choices. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Iceland. The tours were excellent. My son and I stayed here for 5 nights arriving back today. It is a great location, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. It is modern, clean and the rooms are a perfectly adequate size. Ours had 2 single beds, dressing table and chair and tv. Tv has bbc and itv, which is great. The hotel has a pool table (free), but no table football, but having the pool was great fun and a nice way to end an evening. There is a great space downstairs for sitting and a bar which is open until 10. The breakfast was lovely and loads available, it is cereals/porridge and then bread and meats/cheeses/boiled cold egg. We always found enough. Everything is expensive in Iceland and so enjoy as much as you can. The hotel is close to two supermarkets, kronan which we used and is left out of the hotel and then when you see hotel 22 left and across the street. The other is right out of the hotel then right and a left. Both really close, so great when things are so expensive. Hotel staff were friendly enough, did the job. One of the breakfast staff ( think Italian) was lovely and when we were playing pool was worried as the lights were low, which I thought was sweet. The hotel also left us Easter eggs this morning, a nice touch. Only thing they need to improve is the shower- it has a curtain which sometimes blows in on you in the shower and the tiniest bath towels- not much to cover yourself with after a shower. General tips- do the golden circle tour, it is great. Blue lagoon also fun. We walked to the zoo, More like petting farm, but great playground for kids, the rides were closed when we went, but play area open. Costs less than 1000 for an adult, and some kids free/cost less. Overall had a lovely time and if I was going back to Iceland would stay here again. Collapse

We came to iceland for a few days over Easter and had originally booked to stay in a different hotel which was overbooked so they arranged for us to stay here... and I'm glad they did! The hotel was a short walk to the city centre and we had a decent view of the sea and cliffs in the distance. The Hotel was clean and modern, and the decor was simple but stylish. It made a great base for our stay. We had to go back to the hotel around 5ish the first two days to check if our tours were going ahead so while we waited we tried the bar downstairs, the price was reasonable - 1000isk for a bottle beer which is about average price. There's a pool table in the games room too which was fun. Our tours had been arranged to pick us up from the other hotel but the staff at Kettlur were very helpful in changing our tour pick ups and airport transfer for us. We also wanted to do the Glacier walk which was about 23000ISK each and due to weather wasn't going ahead. however, the receptionist dealing with tours helped us find a similar tour which was only 12000ISK. We were surprised to find breakfast was included and there was a good spread of ham, cheese, eggs, bread and fruit as well as tea and coffee and pastries. Overall we had a great time in Iceland and were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights as well as other great sights. The hotel was great and would recommend to anyone staying in Reykjavik Collapse

Staff is nice, helpful and friendly. For a tropical person as I am, the cold was difficult to bear, but what else did we go for? Loved it. Collapse
