Iceland is expensive. So, do not expect a 3-star hotel to be all fancy. This hotel is nice and quite clean, and the staff are also friendly, things you need from a hotel :) We stayed there for 4 nights and had a deluxe room, which is (according to the staff) is bit bigger than the standard room. We request for a crib and they provide it with no extra charge. The amenities were there, but we the cleaning department didn't really refill the shampoo. We were also missing the shower gel and toothbrush pack. The safe is available but were not functioning :( The staff can help you with different kind of tours if needed. The breakfast is pretty simple: bread, salad, jams, oatmeal. If you need to check out extremely early like we did (our transport to the airport is at 3AM), you can go to the dining area to get a simple sandwich. They left some breads, cheese, and ham there, which is nice. If you want to save a little during your stay, there's a Bonus supermarket around the corner. Collapse

Stayed here as part of an Icelandair package, just got in in front of a tour group to check in, where we were informed "Due to overbooking...you have been upgraded"! Obviously a great start to the trip, this got us a more spacious room on the top floor overlooking the harbour/coast. Requests for extra pillows were met instantly, with us being asked what kind of pillows/how many we would like. Breakfast is nothing spectacular, but does the job absolutely fine, the fact it's included is very helpful in the land of crazy prices. With the hotel being included as part of a package tour deal, I was a little concerned before arrival, but I would happily stay here again should I be lucky enough to be back in Reykjavik. Collapse

Stayed for 4 nights in the Klettur as part of an Iceland air package. It was ideally located a short walk from the main shopping and eating areas and many of the sights. The room didn't have a lot of space but as we were only there at night that wasn't really an issue. Beds were comfortable and the buffet breakfast had lots of choice - although if you want a cooked breakfast you will be disappointed. I was very happy with the choices that were available - Porridge, cereals, fruit, skyr yogurt,a selection of breads, rolls, crackers, crispbreads, jams, cold meats, cheese etc. We were collected from the hotel for all of the trips we had booked and dropped back to the hotel or very close to the hotel after each one. I would certainly stay here again if I come back to Reykjavik Collapse

Hotel Klettur was booked as part of a long weekend package with Icelandair and Reykjavik Excursions, very good value in an expensive city for us Brits. Do not be alarmed on arrival - the hotel is built around a huge boulder which has lain undisturbed because it is inhabited by elves. Good clean room, well stocked continental breakfast (with Skyr of course), pleasant reception staff, happy hour at the bar between 1800 and 2000 takes the price of two Gull beers down to 1000 kronur. Our only hiccup was on our last night when we were booked on the Northern Lights tour and the new receptionist gave us the wrong departure time earlier in the day. We missed the trip by an hour. However, the lovely young lady on night duty made every effort to help us (didn't catch her name, she was so apologetic) even down to offering us the use of her own car! She suggested that we go down to the harbour as there was a chance the Aurora could be seen from there - and we saw them! I cannot thank her enough for rescuing the situation (she got a big hug from me), but am still extremely annoyed that this potentially once in a lifetime opportunity had been messed up by poor staff training. We all make mistakes, I hope that lessons are learnt. A lovely stay in a magical country. Collapse
Fairly standard hotel in central-ish part of Reykjavik, popular with tour groups.

Stayed one night at beginning of my Iceland trip and a second night on the way back. Rooms were clean and modern, to good budget standard, beds were comfortable and everything worked. Only complaint was that the heating didn't seem to be on in the rooms when we first arrived (despite being on in the public areas)and it was really quite cold. It was all working however on the second visit 10 days later. Breakfast is a bit of a zoo, though this is mainly down to the hotel actually having quite a lot of rooms, lots of groups of different sizes and most people wanting to eat at about the same time. The actual breakfast itself was average. MY main issue is that although the hotel seems to have quite a lot of rooms, the reception/lounge area on the ground floor is disproportionately small. It gets extremely crowded at times and the receptionists really struggle to cope. They really need to enlarge the reception desk and lounge and employ a couple more receptionists - the ones they had were overstretched and less than helpful/friendly as a result. Collapse
