Only 900 feet from the town's railway station this property is ideally located for seeing the town of Killarney. We had a breakfast included package and it was excellent. The staff is very professional and most of the staff have been here a long time. I must single out for special mention John who has been here over 30 years. He is a pleasure to meet and will take care of your every need while working long hours. If you want to visit local bars and restaurants this is the place to be. We would definitely return. Collapse

I dealt with Nuala and she was absolutely amazing, but all the staff were so helpful also. We hired the function room for our activity and nothing was a problem for them. They set up the room beautifully. We also had afternoon tea for lunch and it was gorgeous. We were all so stuffed. Definitely the nicest afternoon tea I’ve ever had. We also stayed overnight and the rooms were so beautiful and comfortable, plenty of room for girls getting ready for a night out and the bathroom was huge with a lovely double sink. It was the nicest bed I’ve ever slept in. And then breakfast the next morning was also brilliant. I cannot say a bad thing about this hotel. Great value for money too considering it is right in the middle of killarney. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in killarney. Collapse

My family of four reserved two rooms at the Killarney Royal for the night of Monday, March 5. The check in process was easy with rooms available as soon as we arrived. They have a parking lot that they share with their sister property which is a short walk (under 3 min). The rooms were spacious and clean, the bathrooms were also very large. The location of this property was ideal for us as we wanted to be able to walk to restaurants for meals but also be close Killarney National Park. Very nice hotel, would stay here again. Collapse

My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 60th birthdays and we were booked for 2 nights the very end of February. From the moment we arrived after finding that little spot in front of the hotel, we were made to feel at home. As American drivers,, we weren't sure where to park so we pulled into the space out front and ran in. Maura (not sure on spelling) greeted us and said to relax. She told me we could park at their sister hotel (Great southern) that was 3 blocks away so I moved the car while my friend got us checked in. Our room was quite lovely and big for European standards. Plenty of room for our luggage and clothes, the bathroom was large with 2 sinks and it was updated but still keeping to the time of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and lighting was good. We were on floor one so our view was slightly below the street we looked out onto but being on the first floor meant we could take the stairs to easily get to our room. The staff is the most amazing and I wish I could remember more names. Billy is one of the managers and was running the restaurant/bar most evenings and was around most days. He treated us so special when I said it was our birthdays by bringing us glasses of champagne and then a special birthday desert plate with Happy Birthday written around the plate. It was a fabulous way to turn 60. Everyone that worked there was super nice as are all Irish but they went above and beyond. We were supposed to leave the next day but the snow was falling north of us and we didn't want to drive anymore so we returned our car and hoped to leave the next day by train or bus. Well, Ireland basically shut down as it was a huge snowstorm, first in 35 years.. Although Killarney didn't get snow til the following day, everywhere else was closed. They worked with our travel agent to get our accommodations changed and made sure we knew we were welcome to stay. But I can honestly say that I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. We mostly sat in the lobby by the fire which was always kept roaring with coal. We were attended to with offers of tea or drinks, Irish Coffee, we talked with others who also couldn't leave, we read books and made the most of it. The town shops were closed most of the extra days so it was nice to be in such a welcoming place. Whoever was working at the time was always checking in on us and also helping us check for transportation options to get us back to Dublin. After 2 days of thinking the trains would open only to be disappointed again, we determined there might be a bus leaving for Cork at 2:30 where we could then get a bus to Dublin. It was 2:23 when we decided this might be a viable option and Amanda (front desk) spoke with one of the young men working there (whose name I really really wish I could remember) and asked him to help us get to the bus station , about 3 blocks. Without an overcoat, he grabbed our 2 big bags by their handles and we started to run through the slush to get to the bus and he held it until we caught up. I could only hug him and thank him and promise to be back again in better weather. Thanks Amanda for being so fabulous. We were able to catch a 6:00 train out of Cork and made it to Dublin before 10 PM. That wouldn't have happened without the hotel staff. The food was also very good. Breakfast is in a separate room each morning and even when we were late, they served us. Collapse
