Was not impressed with hotel. Air conditioning not cool enough. Had to pay extra for tea/coffee facilities. Evening meal, not much variety, all self service so not piping hot. Got impression it was being run on a shoe string. See more

Before you set foot in the Kennedy Nova look at the three wooden benches on the opposite side of the street. They are hard, uncomfortable and a bit smelly. I ask you to you at them because after one night in the Kennedy Nova (Or the hotel from hell, as I affectionately call it.) you will look fondly on those benches and wish that you had not entered the doorway of the Kennedy No-way. The outside looks grand and the name is distinguished but once you set foot inside you see that maintenance is done with a roll of sticky tape. Everything is well past its sell by date. Friendly staff booked us in and even though we arrived at 14:00 in the afternoon we were told we would have to wait for our room. We were hot, tired and dirty from driving and just wanted to shower and rest. Eventually we went to the top floor restaurant. (Snack bar would be a better word) friendly staff and average, very average food. We were told after about 40 minutes that our room was ready and duly marched down to our room. Small square run down furniture and an air conditioning unit that made a noise but little cool air. (The temperature outside was 35 degrees) The taps didn't work properly, the toilet flushed if you pumped it up and down at a furious rate and the room had no natural light. We went to bed. At 03:00 the room was 32 degrees. The air conditioner was blowing out warm air, I was turning into a boiled tomato and my partner was so exhausted she slept. I called down to reception. 'Move me to a room with air conditioning' the receptionist said they would be up. 5 minutes later I was in another room with the air conditioner blowing.... hot air!!!! 10 minutes later I rang reception. 'My patience is growing thin. Move me to a room where the air conditioner works!' 10 minutes later I as in a room with two bedrooms and TWO air conditioners but no remote control. It was broken. The main bedroom was too cold so I slept in the small bedroom. At last!.... but, what? What was that? Water was dripping on my head and my arm. The air conditioner above the bed was leaking down the wall and splashing me. I grab two blankets and went into the big room. I jammed a cloth into the air conditioner vents to make them point upwards and rolled up into bed. It was 04:30 am and I finally collapsed asleep. Checking out, the next morning, I explained my tale of woe in a very slow, methodical and low voice threatening kind of way. My partner said she thought I was going to pounce at any second but I was so annoyed that I just felt like growling. 'Sorry sir' said the very polite staff. My partner said to the receptionist. 'The least you could do is a gesture of good will is not charging us for the lunch?' 'No mam we can't do that.' 'Get the manager out please' My partner said. Out trots the manageress. Explanation given. 'No mam, we can give you the lunch.' She says. Turns out she wasn't the manager. We asked her to speak to the manager. She goes to her phone, has a long chat with the manager and comes out smiling. 'Sorry Mam, we can't credit you for the lunch.' She smiled. We paid the 13 euros for the lunch.... 13 euros! Clearly good will is of no importance the Kennedy No-Way. My advice, skip the Kennedy No-Way and sleep on the benches on the street. Note: this kind of 'joke hotel' is the exception in Malta. Most of them are fine but to read the TripAdvisor reviews. THEY ARE USUALLY A GREAT INDICATOR. Collapse

We booked this hotel for just one night (thank goodness) as I was getting work done to my apartment. Arrived at the hotel tired and exhausted and had to wait until nearly 3pm to get checked in so had something to eat on the hot roof terrace in the meantime. Trouble started when the air conditioning didn't work that night requiring a change of room in the middle of the night. 2 room changes later and the problem persisted leaving us with a sleepless night. We requested a slightly later check out that was granted. On checking out we expressed our disappointment making sure that we were not complaining about the staff who tried their best despite the circumstances. We asked if as a gesture of good will they could waive the bill for lunch €14). The manager who wasn't at the hotel was contacted but the message came back that this could not be done as the manager had refused this request. It wasn't about the €14-a simple good will gesture would have left us feeling more positive about the hotel which although is supposed to be a 4 star hotel is at best 3 but realistically 2 star. I will not be going back and would not be able to recommend it at all. Collapse

I booked this hotel for a last minute trip away, i made the fatal mistake of booking from their website photos and not consulting tripadvisor. the rooms looked nice and modern and i opted for a standard room, big mistake. The standard rooms are worse than basic, the beds were hard and the pillows were disgusting, the bathroom looked fairly clean but extremely old fixtures made it feel grubby. we arrived after mid night so we just went to sleep, the next morning i decided to pay for an upgrade to a nicer room and was told this would be €35.00 per night, we discussed this with the receptionist for 5 mins at 11.55am and when we decided to go ahead at 12.02 she told us all room changes needed to be booked before 12 and nothing she could do today, try again tomorrow. she was extremely unhelpful and anytime we needed to ask her anything she seemed completely put out by our presence. on our third night we paid to upgrade, i feel this is a scam as pictures of the rooms are nothing like the actual rooms, they have 6 superior rooms and these are what are photographed, i estimated around 50 rooms in total, our room was on the first floor and felt like a jungeon, it was completely dark and had no window, the glass door opened to face a wall about 4 foot away, like being at the bottom of a mine shaft. after a few days in our paid upgraded room our air conditioning began to leak, i called reception and she replied with OK, i asked what was OK and she told me she would add it to the maintance log to be looked at, god only knows when, i told her we needed towels or a bucket for that night and she told me she had nothing like that at receptions, again as if my presence was an inconvenience, finally i convinced her i needed towel, when she brought them up i had come from the balcony to let her into the room and opened the balcony door that moment and she told me it was our fault the unit was leaking as we had the balcony door open all the time. apart from one female and one male receptionist the other two female receptionists are extremely rude, the other staff are very friendly, the cleaners and bar staff are helpful. the building work didn't disrupt us too much as we were often out, the pool is small but very quiet, we visited in July and only met a handful of other guest so this may be due to the building works going on. the location is very good, loads of restaurant and nice view, easy access to buses and tour. I would just recommend that if you book you book a superior rooms (Modern but not sea view) or a sea view (old fashion but bright and had a balcony) the photos are very misleading and the two girls are reception really put me off. but it was a bargain for a last minute trip. definitely no-where near 4 stars, maybe 2.
