We have just returned from a week on St Martins staying at the Karma St Martins Hotel with our dog. We were recommended the hotel by a colleague who had stayed there and last year whilst visiting the island we happened to call in at the hotel and joined the Karma Club at a discount. We were very lucky to benefit from an offer that was running at that time. The hotel is part of a group of hotels located in France, Tuscany, Bali and Bavaria and members can benefit from offers as well as discounts on food. Having been frequent visitors to the Scilly's we had seen the hotel sadly decline from its heyday but were encouraged when it was taken on by the Karma Group - now in its third season. We had a wonderful time during our stay - the location is stunning, the staff are brilliant especially Pippa, Victoria, Veira, Sam and Fynn. Our room was well appointed and looked freshly decorated, the bathroom was clean but needed a bit of updating, housekeeping work really hard to keep everything spotless and they even provided a blanket and bowl for our dog. The hotel food is not cheap and we felt it got better as the week progressed - they only opened for the season on 12 April. Whilst the islands are wonderful for us holiday makers it's not easy running any business let alone a hotel in such a remote location. But the Karma team are doing a great job and deserve to have a very successful 2017 season. Collapse

Visited Karma on Easter Sunday with friends and family. The hotel has been fully refurbished and with a new management and staff. They could not have been more welcoming! We sat on the lawns in the sun and had drinks before Sunday Lunch. The view from the hotel is amazing and it is well sheltered from the cool Atlantic breeze that can come in. The place was busy and we had more visitors than our booking, but they accommodated us fully. The lunch was a traditional roast, plus specials of local lobster. It was excellent and the service exemplary considering how busy they were. Definitely coming back for a longer stay! Collapse

Took one of our dogs on a break to the Scillies and stayed here for one night. The arrival across from St Mary's is spectacular, and we we were greeted by the manager on the quay. The hotel is right in front of you. The beach is beautiful and the waters are crystal clear. The hotel has been part modernised, our bedroom was great, overlooking the beach. The food was outstanding too, and very well priced, we had half a fresh lobster each and it was less than £15. Very dog friendly too, ours loved it and could not wait to hit the beach at every opportunity. Would definately go again. Collapse

Visited the Karma hotel on St Martins and found it to be fantastic, the service was out of this world and nothing was too much, the attention to detail was sublime. Family really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning.

I’ve been travelling to St Martin’s for many years but since the whole family and girlfriends were over this time we didn’t have enough space in the usual accommodation. I therefore stayed in the hotel for 2 nights with my wife. Overall we had a good experience. The setting is spectacular and I think all of the rooms have a good view. The bedroom was very nicely decorated but the bathroom obviously hadn’t been refurbished and was a bit scruffy which was a bit of a shame. The public areas are fine but nowhere near as nice as the Hell Bay hotel on Bryher (although I believe the rates there are about double) in my opinion. The style and décor just doesn’t fit in as well with the surroundings. We also felt that the hotel wasn’t making use of it’s great outdoor space. There were no bar staff available outside to take drinks orders and the parasols were a bit scruffy (they used to be a lot smarter under the old owners). It’s a great space with incredible views so this could be a real asset to the hotel if used properly. The staff were all very friendly and check in and out was very straight forward. They were also very helpful in moving our bags to our usual accommodation on the other side of the island. We really enjoyed the dinner in the hotel restaurant. Excellent food at very reasonable prices, particularly the lobster! The breakfast however was very disappointing and the hot food was of poor quality (more like something you’d get at a service station). Some a la carte options (like eggs cooked to order etc) would be a good addition I think. Overall it’s a nice hotel and a good place to stay to make the most of the wonderful island. Plenty that could be improved though! Collapse
