AWESOME!!! The best of all my hotel experiences. For one thing, it passed my white glove antibacterial wipe test. It was very clean and beautiful. I loved this Marriott. I didn't want to leave. It was pretty cool driving up to the James Bond Dock when you arrived via water taxi. It was the all time best! The Michelin restaurant on the property was the best food and presentation I've ever experienced and I have traveled all over the world!!! Thank you JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa. The Spa was second to none!!! I had the best massage ever!!! That I do not find. I have had many massages and I'm hard to please because I am a licensed massage therapist, but Silvia was the best EVER!!! THANK YOU!!! Collapse

While on a trip to Italy, we spent 3 days at this luxury resort. We wish we had spent the entire vacation there. This resort is located on a private island, Isola delle Rose about 20 minutes from Venice. The hotel runs a ferry service all day long to Piazza San Marco making sightseeing fun and easy. We drove a rental car from Bulgheri which we dropped off with Hertz at the Piazzale Roma. We asked the hotel to arrange a private transfer making for for an easy luggage transfer. It was a spectacular ride in a water taxi to the James Bond check-in dock at the Resort. This is the coolest check-in we have ever experienced. You could also opt to handle your bags yourself and take a water taxi as the dock is just across the street from the Piazzale Roma. Some stairs to climb down so make sure you want to forgo having a porter do the bag transfer for you. A third, more challenging option, would be to make your way to the JW Marriott dock at Piazza Marco. Not an easy task in Venice's narrow, crooked streets. We booked an Uliveto Suite and were surprised and pleased to be given a complimentary upgrade to a La Maisonette Loft Suite. First floor was a sitting area, powder room, walk in closet and minbar. The second had the bedroom, a second closet, a deluxe marble bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. Outside our front door was a heated plunge pool and chaise lounges. The towels and toiletries provided were very luxurious. One of the most stunning hotel rooms we have enjoyed. Thank you Concierge staff. The grounds surrounding the hotel are spacious, extremely well maintained and make for an enjoyable walk. We had the best dinner ever at the hotel's Michelin One Star restaurant, Dopolavoro. It was truly a magnificent culinary experience. The breakfast at La Cucina was part of our room rate and excellent each day. The staff remembered us after the first day and gave us great service. We did not eat at Sagar rooftop restaurant but did enjoy drinks at the bar. It is a very lovely venue. Great bartenders there and in the lobby bar. The Italians know how to mix drinks with style. We were leaving Venice via train and we took the concierge recommendation to use the complimentary boat shuttle to the main train station. The dock was on the same level as the train station which made it very easy to handle our rolling luggage. We were very sorry to leave after only three days. A truly wonderful resort. Collapse
Unsympathetic and ruined my mothers 60th birthday present! Rude Staff

I need to share this experience as it's the worst recovery/assistance/customer service I have ever received from a hotel. I booked at the J.W. Marriott Venice from 23-26 of Sept for my mother as a 60th birthday present. She was travelling to a few cities on her first ever trip to Europe from Canada. I realised about a week after making the reservation that I have made a mistake and booked it for August rather than Sept. It was the 24th of August when I called to explain my mistake and ask if they would be kind enough to move the booking to September and not to charge me a no show fee of euro 429 from the night before. I was told that the dates in September were fully booked and as such they could not change to those days and would not refund me the no show charge, if the dates were available they would have changed it without a charge. I asked to be placed on a waitlist or have the value available for a future stay and they agreed however sent me no email or confirmation of this. I explained that I could not afford the cancellation and another hotel for my mother but there was no sympathy (I know the mistake was mine, but I tried everything to get some help). Thinking I was speaking to the wrong person, I called back two days later to be told that they would have a senior reservation manager get back to me. Never received that call. I tried again a week later and got through to a receptionist who confirmed that due to the night I accidentally booked not being full, they would refund my money, this has not happened and I doubt I will hear back from anyone at that property. I have tried about 4/5 times in total to get in touch with someone at that hotel to help me get my money back or to give me a future credit and not received any proactive help. Overall, my mother had to stay in a 3* hotel for that part of her trip as I waited for help from the Marriott and in that time most other hotels were booked. All interactions with the staff showed that they barely spoke english and did not care about my situation and were not willing to help. A simple gesture would have gone a long way, now I feel its only right to share with others why I will not be choosing the Marriott in future and to be careful when dealing with the team here and write down who you spoke to and when so that you actually get what you are promised and not told that you are wrong constantly. Shame as the place looks beautiful, staff ruin it... Collapse

The hotel is located on an island in the bay and was originally a mental health hospital. The main feature of the hotel is its amazing panorama of Venice from the common outdoor restaurant and pool. Our room had the same panorama but no terrace so I would not again pay extra for the room with a view (of Venice). Because it is located on a island you have to take a free water taxi back and forth to Venice. Dropoff and pickup point is 5 minutes walk from the Doge's palace and trip time is 20-30 minutes. Luxury resort with all the corresponding service and amenities. We ate only breakfast at the hotel which was very nice. Great location to take pictures of sunset on Venice, but during the night Venice is too dark for great pictures. Collapse

We stayed here on 4 day trip thru Italy. Its a beautiful resort providing a quiet secluded location. If you're looking for a quiet luxurious getaway thats close to Venice but not in the middle of everything, then this is it. Its one of the nicest resorts i've been to, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. My only complaint is getting to the resort from the train station. You either have to take a water taxi (fastest and most expensive) to St Mark's square or take the water bus (cheapest/slowest); just depends on whats more valuable time spent or $$. Either way, its a pain to get there with luggage, then drag it around to find the pier with the JW boat. For a resort at this level I would expect a boat at the train station. If you're looking to sight see and make the most of your time then you should look somewhere on the main land as it takes 20-30 mins to get to/from the mainland to the island where this is located. Plus the boat leaves every 30 mins, so you have to schedule your day around that. Its really not a big deal but takes an hour or so away from your sightseeing/activities. For most people thats not a big deal but you'll be frustrated if you're one of those that likes to pack as much into a trip is possible, unless you stay for a week or so. Collapse
