Well our weekend didn't start great even before we had got there! Had a call from Michael (Assistant front office Manager) the day before to say that unfortunately the executive room i had booked was unavailable due to being double booked but that he would make sure there were one or two treats for us in the room in lieu of this mistake. We need not have been concerned though as it was all fine when we arrived the next day. We got there and with our keys the very nice receptionist handed us an envelope which contained discounted vouchers for our stay and when we got to our room we had a lovely chilled bottle of wine waiting for us too. Saturday morning arrives and it seems our bad luck is continuing to follow us.....there's a problem and there's no hot water! So the hotel gave everyone a complimentary breakfast to compensate. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and clean and beds are comfy too, brilliant nights sleep first night but unfortunately the second night we had neighbours that were a bit vocal, the 50 shades kind of vocal if you get my drift! Unfortunately we couldn't get back to sleep after the show! Lol! The hotel staff were lovely, polite and friendly and we were looked after by Michael very well, the receptionists always had a smile and Ryan our Barman,Waiter and coffee shop server was a pleasure to meet. All in all we had a fabulous time, loved it there and Derby turned our to be such a surprise,we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you everyone for a wonderful weekend! Collapse

Had a weekend in Derby for my last hurrah as a single man. We spent the day gorge walking in the peak district before travelling back into Derby. We found the hotel with relative ease and was pleased by the look of the place. Unfortunately things didn't get off to a great start as their car park situated under the hotel was broken (How does one 'break' a car park? In any case, we had two large vans and were advised by the hotel staff that were a number of nearby car parks that could be used. This was somewhat troublesome as there was a ticket happy meter maid patrolling nearby so most of the group had to carry their belongings. The staff didn't seem particularly bothered that they had caused this level of disruption either. Added to this was the car park we used was free until 6am the following morning. However, at 6:01 it would need paying for. But you couldn't pay up front. Meaning one of the group had to get up at 6am (!?) after a stag night out to put a ticket on the car to save it getting fined. That put us in a fairly bad mood to start with. But. The staff were otherwise polite and friendly. The rooms were exactly what you would expect, nothing extravagant but clean and tidy with comfy beds. The bar and drinks area in the lobby was very nice and set the tone well for the night ahead. In conclusion, a very good hotel and i would definitely stay here again, but just this particular trip marred by the parking issues, which in the hotel's defence, couldn't really have been helped. They could, however, have made the situation better. Collapse
