Stayed at the lovely Jerbourg for a long weekend and had an amazing stay. We were lucky enough to have a standard room with a sea view and also pool view. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Tennerfest was available and the 3 course set menu for £15 was excellent. Ideal location if you like walking but also on a bus route which will take you into town. Bus costs £1 which is so reasonable. Lovely place and would recommend this hotel for comfort, food and location Collapse

Excellent, except for limited, half-cold buffet breakfast

My superior room was truly excellent, spacious, with a wonderful seaview and balcony. Breakfast has been mentioned elsewhere on Tripadvisor, but the reviews have not been acted upon. If you judge a hotel's kitchen by its breakfasts, then stay - and eat - elsewhere. The buffet here is greasy, often reheated or microwaved, and half cold. There is no evident fish or other alternative to English breakfast. There is no menu. Service is very slow - on every morning I had to wait almost until I had finished my meal before being offered tea or coffee. There are also pastries, fruit and cereals. I could find no way of getting into the cereal packs other than with my teeth. Coffee is poor. Very disappointing, considering the excellence of the accommodation. Incidentally, the superior rooms do have numbers, but curiously are not referred to by them, but by the names of Guernsey beaches or bays. My room was called "Le Jaonette" on the door, but "Le Jaonnette" on the key fob. Both are incorrect spellings, and French words ending in "ette" are never masculine in gender. Collapse

Following our stay in August I've not written a review until this time as we had been in the process of making a complaint about a few matters which the Hotel and Top Tours now consider have been adequately addressed albeit we don't. All we can therefore do is document for other travellers what we encountered so future visitors can make their own opinions before visiting. The hotel sits in a prominent position at Jerbourg point and enjoys, from the cafe and restaurant and some Sea-View rooms, some spectacular coastal views. We had three nights with Hotel Jerbourg which were booked via Secret Escapes. The hotel itself is in reasonable standard although isn't overly well cared for in parts. The breakfast room both before and during service were messy and we observed on all three days sugar wrappers on the floor (in one case what appeared to be the same piece of rubbish in the walkway at each breakfast time - to the extent that on the last morning I picked it up myself), salt/pepper on tables which were unclean and staff frequently walked passed things they could have picked up or cleaned down and on the whole seemed fairly disinterested in presenting a clean and tidy hotel. Parts of the hotel are in need of a little modernisation and the back stairs down to the restaurant resemble some kind of storage facility for banners, chairs etc and looks especially untidy. This is an area guests are meant to access too as despite them being the 'back stairs' a number of rooms use this passage way. Upon arrival we found that unfortunately Top Tours - Secret Escapes partner - had not passed on the correct details to the hotel and accordingly the hotel were not expecting us until some three days later. Whilst the hotel dealt with this relatively swiftly it didn't make us feel particularly welcome nor special but that must surely be down to Top Tours rather than Hotel Jerbourg. They did have one room left and whilst it was deemed a 'Classic' room which is what we had booked the standard of the room was poor due to: 1 - Interconnecting door between our room and another which was noisy and allowed TV, sleep/snoring and other noise to permeate between. We also were unconvinced if the door was either locked or lockable but didn't like to try in case the people on the other side thought we were trying to 'get in'. Perhaps we could and should have asked but it wouldn't have reduced the noise at all. 2 - a view of the car park and the flat roof over reception. I appreciate there is a difference between a Classic room and a Sea View room at hotels and the Sea View rooms will demand a premium but the view was really quite poor. As we had been unexpected guests it felt very much like we had been given the last room in the hotel (which we had). 3 - the central ceiling light didn't work during our stay at all and despite telling the reception team every morning it remained broken. After our complaint we have been advised that the hotel have informed Top Tours that: "The hotel acknowledge the issue with the light fitting, telling us that replacement light bulbs kept blowing. They say that one of the joys of Islands life is that ordering new parts can take days rather than hours, and they profusely apologise that the client was not kept better informed." We were indeed not kept informed at all. To have been better informed would have been to have said anything to us as each time we needed to raise the issue it seemed like a complete surprise again to the staff. In our experience of staying on Islands in hotels including many hotels in the Scilly Isles we haven't found this excuse before and it merely contributes to the fact that this room wasn't up to scratch. 4 - Our room was considerably smaller than we expected and than is shown on the website. The website uses the word 'Standard' although Secret Escapes uses the word 'Classic'. There was little additional spare room to use and moving around the room was difficult. The furniture was too large for the space and meant that in part some bits of the room were completely lost. Overall we were disappointed with our stay and there are positives to draw such as very good breakfast offering with different food choices and options available, a fantastic cafe with very good cakes and drinks and a restaurant menu which offered good quality food. We have been offered by the hotel as compensation an upgrade to a Superior Sea View room from a Classic Room should we wish to visit again however, I'm fairly sure we won't be taking them up on this offer but we appreciate that they at least responded and tried to do something. As for Secret Escapes they have been involved in raising the concerns to the tour operator and their customer service supervisor Laura has been very professional at getting back to us after one of their colleagues left without passing our case on to anyone. We would probably not look to use Top Tours or Secret Escapes again in this regard either given our experience with them. Collapse

Stopped for afternoon tea before walking around the peninsula. Wide variety of cakes and scones, teas and coffees. Lovely, comfy seating areas outside with beautiful views over to Sark. Only marred by kids shrieking who were using the pool.
