We have just returned for our first trip abroad with our 4 year old son. We wanted a child friendly hotel with lots to do, and this ticked all our boxes. Perfect for young children. We found there was so much to do for kids, no chance of them being bored. It's a beautiful hotel, the grounds and pools are immaculate. There are plenty of sun beds all times of the day - the main pool is busy, but the kids pool and new pool always had spare beds. We had a one bedroom bungalow which was basic but very spacious and just right for us. All the staff are hard working, friendly and polite. The reception staff were really helpful, answering questions, booking taxis, even lending us a buggy free of charge. The restaurant staff were wonderful, great with kids, ready with high chairs and plastic cutlery if necessary. There is no mad rush for tables and food - you are shown to a table, give your drinks order, then a buffet meal, but all calm and relaxed. The food was standard all inclusive food - a food variety. There is always pizza and pasta etc, but we found our son bored of this and was soon tucking in to all the other dishes on offer. We didn't use the kids club but our son loved the mini disco in the evening. The entertainment / kids team work incredibly hard, lots of fun and fluent in English, Spanish and German. Evening entertainment is geared towards children which is exactly what we wanted. We had to drag our son to bed each night! We did find the entertainment was geared towards the German and Spanish families, but as the majority of the guests weren't English, this made sense. We found it quite refreshing, and our son made lots of new German and Spanish friends. Overall, incredibly happy and will definitely be returning. Collapse

As the title of my review states the Isabel isn't a 4 star in my opinion. As most state, the bathrooms need and I believe are being upgraded right now so maybe could swing it to a 4* coupled with wifi which was being upgraded throughout the complex during our stay, so have to say the hotel seem to be addressing the main complaints. We had a bungalow which, bathroom aside, was fine right next to the main pool, staying SC. It's a busy hotel attracting many different nationalities, the staff on the whole were very polite and helpful with the exception of the odd 1 or 2 who I found to be a little grumpy. Not 100% sure what the lifeguards do other than hand fresh towels out as I don't think I saw a guard sat in his/her station maybe twice around the main pool all 14 days. Animation team work hard, their daily program is spoken in 3 different languages to cater for the mix of clients and are really friendly with kids/adults of all nationalities. Sunbed dash on a morning is a scramble, pool not supposed to open until 9-30 (the pool actually does) but not the sunbeds which can be claimed anytime from 8-30 to 9-15 depending on what mood the pool attendant is in! Make a rule, stick to it? Can't comment on the food with us being SC and only briefly caught the evening entertainment as we went out in an evening but didn't hear any grumbles from guests about the food nor the entertainment. Complex is clean and very well maintained, cleaners are great and always had a smile on their face and as already said the staff are very helpful and friendly. Overall we had a great time and with a few adjustments here and there it would deserve it's 4* rating. Go enjoy your visit, I'm sure you will, look past the niggly faults as they are niggles not complaints to spoil your overall holiday :-) Collapse
Not worthy of 4 stars

We were a group of 10 adults & 5 children. Upon arrival we were greeted by reception staff in training, not a great start as they couldn't answer our questions. Oh well we were on holiday and everyone has to train sometime. Our room - we were allocated a bungalow down a flight of steps at the back of the complex. The smell of damp hit us as soon as we opened the door on closer inspection our room was tired, dated and the bathroom was in need of replacement and certainly not in a state to be let out to paying guests. Some of the staff serving and placing out the food were very rude and stroppy, particularly one lady at the poolside snack bar who when I politely advised her that there were no burgers left told me "I only have one pair of hands!" The restaurant has two seating sections but only one serving area meaning queues are inevitable, something the majority German cliental at the hotel don't believe in doing, making for extremely stressful mealtimes. Again some of the restaurant staff are extremely rude and arrogant, when asked anything roll there eyes and go off muttering in Spanish and have to be asked several times before actioning the request. The sunbed situation at the pool is a joke there are signs and a chain up saying beds cannot be reserved until 9.30am, this is mainly ignored and for those guests who choose to abide by the rules and wait for the deadline there is then a race & a "punch up" for the beds! The entertainment staff work hard with very basic costumes that they have had to construct themselves out of cardboard boxes etc... and again mostly German speaking. On a plus point the staff do keep the hotel clean and rooms are serviced daily to keep the cockroaches at bay. Would I recommend this hotel? Only if you were looking for a good basic 3 star hotel with a mainly German cliental it definitely is not a 4 star hotel. Investment is required in the accommodation, staff customer service training and a better entertainment program before you would even consider awarding this hotel it's 4 star status. Would definitely return to the resort but would choose a more well known chain hotel where you can rely on standards! Feeling very disappointed. Collapse
Average at best.

Stayed for 14 nights with family of 4 with 2 teenagers... Most staff friendly but some are obviously stressed and can be quite abrupt and rude, evening entertainment is mainly focused around German family's and the kids club is German too. Rooms were cleaned daily but are in need of refurbishment, very basic. I have read that the hotel is in the process of updating rooms but I personally never saw any evidence of this and if the hotel is clearly acknowledging this issue then it should advise guests before they stay. During my visits to reception I was not the only person with accommodation issues. It is not a 4 star hotel, maybe it was in 2012 as they do like to boast but that was 5 years ago. Definitely only a 3 star. Collapse

Went as a family of 14, 9 adults and 5 children age range 0-7. We had booked 3 bungalows half board. We had a 6 am flight and arrived at hotel around midday. The airport is 30 minutes max to the hotel. Check-in was smooth but as we had arrived early 2 out of 3 bungalows were not ready. Couple of hours earlier we were in our bungalows. Staff at reception were friendly and welcoming. The lobby area is huge. WiFi was free and accessible in the lobby and poolside. The resort itself is like a village, absolutely huge. Rooms were great with a little kitchenette with the standard utensils. Being half board breakfast was a definite each morning but the hotel allowed us to choose on a daily basis if we wanted lunch or evening meal. We stuck to evening meal apart from 1 day. There is a supermarket round the corner from the resort where we shopped for the sandwiches, snacks and water we had for lunch. The facilities in the hotel I thought were great apart from the one issue of not being able to flush toilet paper down the loo. This I felt should have been explained at check-in. This is not the hotels fault, it's just because of where the resort sits. There are a few ants about and cockroaches but if u keep it clean enough should be fine. The cleaners speak no word of English so any problems it is worth going straight to reception. The beach is a 10 minute walk down hill and we found a great British pub that did amazing food there, can't compliment it enough. Food did begin to get repetitive but I guess that's the same every where, they do try and change it. vegetarian option is also good as we had a few vegetarians in our group. Evening entertainment we didn't really watch much as most evenings after stuffing ourselves we went for walks. There is a market every Saturday and Thursday, worth checking for fake stuff and try and haggle as much as you can there. Would I go back? Yes but I wouldn't in a rush only because it would be good to experience other resorts too. It's a family resort, so if you are after a romantic getaway, this place isn't for you. Collapse
