Having read the other reviews I am a little perplexed about how people are so positive about this hotel. We had an enjoyable break there as a family (2+2) but wouldn't be rushing to return. We had requested a high chair via our travel agent but when we got there we were told we had to hire one - I didn't on principle and the hotel should be ashamed at hiring an Ikea high chair that costs €16 to guests. A few other pros and cons noted below: Cons: - this is by no means a 4 star hotel regardless of what the sign over the door says. - no wifi other than in reception area - apartments are poorly maintained and very dated - they prohibit guests to flush toilet paper down the toilet - buffet is repetitive and at times chaotic with no clear 'path' to take - they close the indoor play area at weekends as kids club does not run (not supervised anyway so why not leave it open?) - main pool is full of lilos and other inflatable 'toys' making it intimidating for younger children (one day I counted 29 inflatables in the pool including one that 4 adults were lying side by side on) - rules re pool are not enforced by lifeguards (children not toilet trained being taken out of nappies and put in pool naked) - kitchen had ants - reception full of cheap arcade games which cheapens the hotel and puts pressure on parents - key cards constantly stopped working - we had a garden but the only garden furniture was the cheapest and oldest of white plastic seats and a table which couldn't be used as the ground was uneven Pros: - staff are friendly and professional - landscaping is well maintained - pool was spotless on each of our visits - maid was very accommodating as we have a younger child who napped when she should have been cleaning our apartment - cater well for children in the restaurant with high chairs and plastic cutlery Collapse

We stayed in Bungalow 683 from 2 June until 13 June this year. The resort is very large but it is perfectly pitched for families with under 5s. I think older children would get bored here. There is plenty to keep little ones occupied, two pools, indoor play, mini disco, etc. Overall the holiday was very nice as we got to spend quality time together. Staff: We found the northern European receptionists to be very aloof and unhelpful, whereas the locals were very much on the ball. The restaurant staff were a bit hit and miss too and only really were friendly towards us on the last couple of days. The chambermaids were exceptional, very friendly and hardworking. The animation team were hit and miss and seemed to favour blonde, blue eye children (my daughter is a cute brunette!). Bungalow: It was very basic and in need of a refurb. It was unfortunate that we had to climb stairs to access it, especially with a toddler and a pushchair. We should really have asked to change room, but simply could not be bothered due to what I have highlighted about the reception staff. The bathroom really does need a revamp - there is a sign asking not to dispose of loo roll directly into the toilet. If they want this to be followed through then I think a bidet would need to be installed. Food: We stayed full board and found the food to be perfectly adequate. My daughter always ate at every meal, which is a miracle in itself. We had to buy drinks with our meal due to our board level, but got around spending too much by using the HypoDino in the shopping centre next door at the resort. A 3 litre box of wine for 5 euros! The shopping centre also has a nice little bar, where we got a decent coffee each day as the coffee on site was dreadful. Location: It's a ten minute down hill walk to Playa Fanabe, but we favoured Playa Torviscas and El Duque, as the beach at both was nicer (not the black sand though!) and the sea was gentle for little ones. There is a very posh shopping centre near El Duque beach which was nice for an evening stroll. We ate out once for lunch and discovered that eating out in the Canaries is not as cheap as it used to be - one lunch of two salads, calamari, bread, drinks and coffee came to 35 euros. Clientele: There was a mix of nationalities which we liked, During the first part of our break there were several Spanish families which gave the resort a very sophisticated feel. During the second part there were more red Brits obviously on all inclusive, who just sat around the pool drinking all day ... I hate Brits abroad and I am British. My hubby is Italian. We did enjoy our break, but not sure if we would stay here again. We would definitely go all inclusive next time, but we like to have more variety of restaurants when doing so. Perhaps we can save our pennies and stay closer to El Duque next time. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel as a family of three with a teenage daughter. The hotel has three lovely pools and has good facilities such as a small gym and spa treatment area. We did not eat at the hotel as we like to go out and eat but we did look at the food and it did look lovely. There was evening entertainment most nights that was always finished by 11pm so did not disturb. The staff are really friendly and helpful. When we arrived we had a problem with our air conditioning. I went to reception to report it and by the time that I got back to our room the maintenance men were following me in to the room to repair it. The staff are constantly cleaning then grounds and toilets. The hotel is set in a good location only 10 min walk from the beach and the restaurants and a short free bus ride to the excellent Siam Water park. We would definitely stay here again. Collapse

Start with the positives, reception area is immaculate, pool area is great and well decked out, front facing staff were great and very helpful, entertainment is greatly improved from previous years. Now the less than positive points, the pool is full of black muck which appears to be some sort of mould from the grouting which I'd never noticed before as I'd never previously swum in there with goggles on. It's 2017, remember that, there seems to be a policy of a total free for all when it comes to smoking at the hotel pool area, not even 1 small section cordoned off as non smoking, the kids shallow end round the sides is like a flippin' saloon bar, the constant call from the nipper was 'the smell of smoke is horrible'. The bathroom in our room was terrible, no window and no extractor, shower leaked all over the place and the tiles are all falling off, I had to make repeated visits to reception to report faults with the room or to get my swipe key re-programmed, apparantly if you keep the swipe key anywhere near another bank card (according to reception) they will blank out and you won't be able to re-enter your room. In an amazing customer service move the hotel gave me a 40 euro voucher as long as I signed to say that I would have no future claim against the hotel for the shortfalls between what I expected (had paid for) and what they delivered, it transpired though that there was 10 vouchers, each of which could be used against 1 'all-inclusive' i.e. Cheap cocktail, to put this into perspective, my order for a Hendricks G & T , cider and still water, which I thought would be covered by the vouchers became a Gordon's G & T (1 x voucher) 330 ml strongbow for 4.40 euro and a still water for 2.20 euro which I had to pay for. From then on in I completely lost the will to stay and stopped bothering to report the repeated faults with the room. Have had 3 visits, the hotel is nowhere near 4* and is the first hotel I've ever come across which appears to get consistently worse. The self catering provision is laughable, it's your choice if you go, great pool, poorly furnished self catering room and the room so tired it should be laid out to rest. Collapse

We have stayed at the Isabel twice now after our first visit we booked a week later to go again! The food and drinks are fantastic much better than the standard all inclusive. We often ordered bottles of wine on an evening in the restaurant which was very nice. We had bungalows over looking the pool with a huge garden balcony. We traveled as a family of 4 2 adults and 2 children we also traveled with my parents both times and requested to be next door to each other and the hotel happily accommodated us. The poolside entertainment was great and I particularly enjoyed the fashion shows. The only let down some nights was the entertainment but you can't expect shows every night and it would not stop us returning again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Collapse
