My husband and I stayed at the Hotel International for 7 nights recently. This was my first visit to the hotel and I was extremely impressed by it. It's a small hotel located on the busy 'walking street' in the heart of Old Town Benidorm. A perfect hotel and location if you're looking for something quite simple and in the buzz of the best part of Benidorm. The hotel was kept spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. It was our wedding anniversary on the day we arrived and they surprised us by bringing us a basket of fruit with pretty greenery to decorate it and a champagne bucket with a bottle of bubbly. How nice was that! Totally unexpected. Our room faced away from the street which was good as it was quiet and we had the added bonus of a terrace we could walk out on to. The view around us was buildings however you could look down on to the pretty restaurant terrace below. The restaurant terrace was our favourite thing about the hotel. A wee hideaway space surrounded by greenery where you could eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. In the evening it was lit up and was a lovely place to sit. Being such a small hotel, the food selection is very limited however everything we ate was delicious. It also never felt particularly busy which was good. All in all I would definitely recommend the Hotel International. Collapse
small but good

I have given two reviews on this hotel, 2013 and 2014. We have just come back and the weather was exceptional. Again the staff were so helpful and kind. My husband and I are both walking disabled and this year I found the steps leading into the hotel a little difficult but took my time. When we booked in I asked the receptionist, Natalia, for three pillows as I have to sleep sitting up but the mattress was not soft enough for my painful back that I had to put one pillow on the mattress! My husband's was fine. Cleanliness was faultless, the household staff were cheerful and hard working, changing sheets and towels regularly. I have difficulty getting into the bath let alone being to put up the shower, thank goodness for my carer husband! Always plenty of hot water. We had a front facing room no 203 which was brilliant with a balcony and when you shut the door, all sound disappeared. Wifi in the reception area a bit hit and miss but, hey, holidays are for getting away from it all. Now for the only negative bit. We paid for half board. I am sorry to say that the food was awful. I do not eat meat, white bread or cakes. So I had baked beans for breakfast every day. For the evening, the salad was exactly the same every day consisting of iceberg lettuce, unripe tomatoes (the very large ones cut into quarters), green olives, and a mix of gherkins, salad onions, cauliflower and something else I can't remember. According to my husband, his meals were always cold. We gave the evening meal a try for 4 days, two days we left our meals and went to the superb tapas bars in the area. What a shame, this made us very sad as everything else was superb. My husband was really depressed about the whole thing as we booked this to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The only trouble is we have booked to come here again for ten days on the 16th October on half board basis but we are now in negotiations with our travel agent to change this booking to room only. This is for another celebration so we do not want the food to spoil our visit to this really charming hotel. So thank you Internacional, your staff, cleanliness and ambience of your lovely hotel is superb, pity about the cold food! Collapse
Pleasantly surprised !

I went here on my own in June this year and forgot to review it on my return but am getting round to it now. I arrived at 10pm and was warmly greeted at reception and given my key to my room without delay. It was on the 2nd floor with a rear view from a window (no balcony) to a lovely little courtyard below. The room itself was ultra basic but very clean with a functional bathroom en suite. I didn't plan to spend much time in it so didn't look much further than the route to the bed and the bathroom. The central location of this hotel could not be better being right in the heart of Benidorm old town with bars and beaches within spitting distance ! Next morning I went down to breakfast not expecting a very big choice as it was just a small hotel and mostly occupied by Spanish people but I found it to be very good with bacon, beans, eggs and the usual Spanish things. I was on full board (about 3 quid more expensive over the four days than half board) so tried lunch, it too was very good with the added bonus of a good quality bottle of water or the house wine included in both lunch and dinner ! Very impressive ! Overall the food was of good quality and well cooked. The morcilla and chorizo stew was delicious! The staff were very pleasant all over the hotel and always happy to help. The reception staff all had very good English so you will have no problems if you need anything sorted. I enjoyed my stay and have booked again to have a week here with my wife in September and would have no hesitation in recommending the Internacional to anyone looking for a break in Benidorm old town. The Internacional is not the Ritz nor does it charge Ritz prices but it is terrific value !!! Collapse
