Perfectly located, very close to the subway station and to the city Park, hotel offers impeccable service along with classical interior, well kept amenities, cosy restaurant and very good kitchen menu.

Stayed here for a birthday weekend - had a lovely time! In a city full of beautiful buildings, this one is pretty ugly, HOWEVER, step inside and it's a different story - ellegant and classy! The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We had a corner king size room - very spacious and comfortable. The air conditioning was not great, but the windows can be opened safely for cooler air. Great location - most sights within walking distance (Imperial Palace, State Opera House,St Stephens Cathedral etc.), restaurants, shopping and tram and metro stations. The hotel is opposite the Central Park for a gentle walk and sit in the sunshine!! Would highly recommend! Collapse
Very outdated and not of the quality one would expect of intercon

I stayed at the intercontinental in Vienna for a couple of days, and was rather unimpressed. The hotel, a large concrete block, was probably built in the early 60s, and it shows. Generally the hotel gives a tired, outdated impression. The room I stayed in was subpar, with a bed that had deep valleys in it from frequent use. The walls of the room were very thin, and as a result one could hear noise from everywhere. Also, the housekeeping staff made a lot of noise with slamming doors, yelling in the corridor which made sleep at anytime during the day virtually impossible. The food options that I had in the hotel were bland and unexciting. On the positive side, the staff in the hotel were friendly professional and helpful. Overall an underwhelming experience and not quite what I would expect from intercontinental. I heard some rumors that the building will be torn down - probably not the biggest loss based on my impressions. Collapse

We were really looking forward to visiting this hotel. We stayed for 3 nights. The good points: Good location Beautiful traditional lobby and bar area with a great atmosphere day and night. Brilliant breakfast selection and quality of food/drink. Attentive staff and welcome by lady on arrival-every single morning. Welcome gift for being a member was a pretty selection of cakes and a bottle of water. The bad: There were always plenty of staff in and around the main hotel reception yet for the four days we were there I think we were greeted once, twice max. No one ever says hello, good morning/afternoon or can I help you?! This included bell boys, reception staff and concierge. On our last day one of the bell boys did help us with our luggage down the front set of stairs and asked if we wanted a taxi we had arranged this prior and explained this. he disappeared the another bell boy outside disappeared too knowing our taxi was arriving imminently. He did look At us before leaving, guess we didn't tip the first man so decided it wasn't worth the effort helping us. We were left sorting our own luggage. Thank god the uber man had some customer service skills he didn't hesitate and got straight out of his car to help. It was a €3 fare for him!!! How can he have got it right but the 5* hotel could not?? We were offered €70 per day for the two of us to use the club lounge (this is being a spire elite ihg member) we got this down to €50 but we were still unsure so the receptionist gave us around ten minutes to try the facilities as he was sure they were worth that amount......they were not. Apparently a lovely afternoon tea would be set up was currently served.....it was not. All that was there were mini tea cups with mousse and 3mini shortcakes. We left after 10 minutes thanking god we had not paid. View from the lounge was good but atmosphere was lacking and sterile. I personally think ihg loyalty is on a swift decline. We had been upgraded by one category but that's it. I think it's poor that they do not offer club lounge complimentary any longer. This makes you feel valued and seen as though you have to spend thousands to earn the spire membership status (I spend thousands per month staying at ihg hotels) it surely wouldn't hurt to let you have a couple of bottles of coke for free! We would not return in a hurry to this hotel and has seriously made us question staying for pleasure at the ihg brand or intercontinental hotels. Collapse

The Intercontinental Vienna has a great location. It is next to the Stadtpark station and a 10 min walk from the Vienna Central station. It is also within walking distance from many attractions and restaurants. It has an imposing lobby with beautiful chandeliers and wood panels among which a nice looking cafe offers coffee and pastries. The bedrooms are large and offer beautiful views of Vienna, but are a bit dated. The breakfast is impressive with large sections for American, Asian and local food. The lounge also offers a surprisingly wide selection of local food. The service is impressive. The staff seems to really care about the guests and go out of their way to ensure the guests have a pleasant stay. Collapse
