Stayed here on a Friday night in August with my mother and baby son. Were given a room with a view as per our request - very refreshing to receive! Beds are super comfortable with a pillow menu and fast service when you order one! We did plan to order room service but couldn't fathom spending $45 on a burger so we got delivery which was very good!! Whilst I realise it's a 5 star hotel and high prices are expected, the only thing I'd suggest would be making the room service prices a little less ridiculous. Each meal was very overpriced and then there was an $8 delivery fee on top of that. I wanted to order a glass of champagne but it would have cost over $20 with the fee. Complimentary water would be nice and again, $10 water is just a bit over the top! Buffet breakfast was just amazing and service from all staff encountered from check in to out was perfect! Collapse

Stayed at Sydney Intercontinental Hotel in August. The Hotel was NOT full but even then they didn't upgrade me even though me and my spouse are both Platinum members. The lounge access either. NADA! What is the point of being Loyal to this IHG hotel group? The front desk rep told me they can't upgrade if I am using award nights! WHAT! They also gouge customers with sky high parking fees. They advertise that the Pool is heated but it was barely warm. The water was not comfortable at all. The Sauna was not turned on. It took ~30min for the Sauna to become hot again and I had to wait for that long. I was going to give 1 star but gave 2 since the location is good and the other folks at the hotel were friendly. But I will not stay at this Hotel since they don't value loyal customers and their fees! Collapse

Seems to me, an idyllic location as the hotel sits a stones throw from Circular Quay, overlooking the magnificence of Sydney Harbour while adjacent to the Botanic Gardens (perfect for that early morning jog). But the highlight of the whole experience for me was the InterContinental Club Lounge on Level 32. This team really have it together. For a start, the physicality of the space perched 32 floors above the city is out of this world. By night , Sydney Harbour glitters, the up-lit Sydney Harbour Bridge stands majestically and the sails of the Opera House glow before you...where else can you soak it all up from an open air balcony with drink in hand??? By morning, Sydney was at its best, a clear blue sky with Sydney Harbour sparkling all the way East to the Heads. Could this get any better? Yes! The Club Lounge team consistently struck that perfect balance between professional and friendly. The service was sincere and really came from the heart. They took the time to engage with me in an authentic way, share a bit about themselves and learn a little about my reasons for visiting. By the second morning of taking breakfast on the balcony felt like I was being hosted by friends - they knew my coffee order, how I like my eggs and preference for gluten- free. I don't think it was just about me...it seemed that the Club Lounge team respected peoples privacy and space but for those guests willing/wanting to engage more, they did. In short faultless. My compliments go to the team and management of the hotel for not resting on their laurels. It would be so easy to sell the space just on view. If you're planning an occasion with that special someone, I wouldn't go past considering the Club Lounge experience - well worth it. Collapse

I stayed here for 2 nights. This is a love and hate hotel for me. The hardware of the hotel is very good. Especially the unbeatable club lounge. I had tried over 30 different executive lounges before. With the best sea view, service and food, it is the best one. But what I disappointed is they give the worst benefit to the member. I booked the club deluxe eastern harbour room. My experience in other hotel ,They will arrange the room in the executive floors (the higher floor of the hotel). But they just put me to the 15 floor with bridge view. I am a platinum ambassador member. I asked if they will upgrade my room. But the answer is "this is already upgraded!" without checking their computer. Compare to other intercontinental hotel, This is not a real upgrade. The welcome gift of the membership is only 4 fruits and without a welcome card. The most angry case is when I go to the club lounge. After I say my room number. The staff seem very strange and let me stand and wait 10 mins until they check my right to use the lounge. But be honest , after they know I can use the lounge. The service is very good and nice. So my suggestion is if you want to stay in this hotel, you don't need to spend $200 to buy the ambassador membership. Of course, the ambassador membership in other hotel like sanctuary cove intercontinental is very well. In this hotel, Just book the club room directly. If you don't want to buy the club lounge access. There are many other choice in Sydney. By the way, the location of this hotel is very good too. You can walk to the Circular Quay in 5 mins. I had tried 6 hotels in this Australia trip. I think many reader would like to know the comparison of the member benefits: (Accor Platinum, IHG Platinum Ambassador, Marriott Gold) Sydney Mercure : upgrade to the best room of the hotel, 1 bottle of sparkling wine, some fruit, chocolate, welcome drinks. Sydney intercontinental: Don't know if it is a upgrade or downgrade, 4 fruits, no welcome drink but give 600 points instead. Fairmont blue mountains resort: a bottle of red wine, a big dish of fruits, a big dish of cheese and snack. free mini bar, welcome drinks. Sofitel Brisbane: upgrade to executive floor, free lounge access, a small welcome cake, welcome drinks. Sanctuary cove intercontinental: upgrade to a suite room, a bottle of red wine, some food and many chocolate, no welcome drink but give 600 points instead. Marriott gold coast: upgrade to sea view room, free breakfast, welcome drinks. Collapse
