We booked the Intercontinental in Singapore for 3 nights. Everything was perfect. We arrived late at night and were registered and upgraded to a lovely room very quickly. The hotel is in an excellent location — the hop on bus was accessible across the street and our 2 day ticket was perfect. We could also walk to many of the main sites such as the Arab district and Little India. Staff were all very helpful. Singapore is a beautiful, clean, safe city/country and the Intercontinental provided us with the perfect location from which to explore. Collapse

My first stay at ICH Singapore though I have stayed in some other lovely 5-Star properties in the past in Singers. This hotel has a really nice elegant, classical feel. I am beginning to realise that older more classical hotels are trying to differentiate themselves not by the trendy, stark decor of new hotels but by FABULOUS customer service. ICH certainly delivers. Every single interaction, without exception was polite and professional from housekeeping through to security. Thanks to duty managers, Mohammad and George. Super obliging! Hats off to the Club staff who made me feel special and always had time to chat - it is their job but they do it well. Thanks Genevieve, Vanni, Wai Kit, Nadirah and Anne. I also thought Josiah was an absolute marvel and a real asset to ICH. I was going to list all the staff but the list was getting too big! The Club: Decor is just lovely and very sophisticated. Breakfast was very nice, lots of choice and beautifully cooked and presented. What you expect from a hotel of this type. Afternoon tea was standard fare but nice and relaxing. Cocktails good and the plated canapés always yum! The buffet selection at cocktails needs to be improved. Not everyone likes sushi and other options were limited. Take a lead from ICH in HK or BKK. My biggest bugbear are children in the Club. I pay extra for the Club for the quiet and calm, so I find (most) children attending defeats the whole purpose of the Club. Some hotels have successfully started addressing this, I suggest ICH follows their lead. Room: Elegant Heritage Club room with good amenities. Quite a “bijou” room but perfect for one. The room was noisier than I would have anticipated by people next door and above which was disappointing....but I am noise phobic! Everything else I requested was provided promptly and with grace. Other: Loved it the limo service into the hotel. Totally over the top expensive but what fun and a super nice driver too. I liked the Bugis area. Near MRT and loads of shops and food. Not that I needed food, the Club took care of that. The Pool: The pool was pleasant when I could get seating in the shade. There were at least 4 occasions I did not go to the pool because of no seating or no shade. Using the pool is a big thing for me so it was very disappointing. I hear the pool will be renovated soon so architects do note more seats and much more shade is necessary! My areas for improvement are: - Clean up scuffs, scratches and marks on doors and frames and even the timber on the floor which whilst understandable looks tatty, - Eradicate bathroom grout mould, either bleach it or replace grout/silicone. Currently the mould makes an otherwise spotless bathroom grotty! - Move the flashing smoke detectors away from above the bed. I fully appreciate they are very important but much better located in the room entry. The most important thing to me after cleanliness in a hotel is customer service. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. ICH is a really nice hotel and consistently provides great customer service. On this basis I would be happy to recommend and stay again in the future (provided the pool issues are addressed). Great service as soon as we walked through the door. The hotel is beautiful, service was exceptional - I was very happy with it. Room is small but good use of space and still beautiful. My only complaint was the smoke alarm that was right above the bed with a non-stop blinking light. This was annoying in the night time when you're trying to sleep with a blinking light above your head. Very convenient location - so many shopping centres, restaurants and sites/landmarks near us. Overall, highly recommend - a true 5 star hotel experience. Collapse
